How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because some day in life you will have been all these.
– George Washington Carver
How the funk are you? Had enough pop politics, pundits and blathering funking idiots? How about we do our own funkin' thing.
I think Friday Funk has been in a music rut. Today the goal is to break out some different funkin' tunes.
I noticed quite a few essays on the current sorry state of affairs. It is funked up, and most of what is passed off as news is funkin' bullshit.
I am liking the funk Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is stirring up.
AOC is making Charlie Brown Chuck Schumer look bad worse.
To all the freshman congress critters, question authority and fight stasis. These funkers are too comfortable. I want to see them sweat.
Do not take no for an answer and persist.
Have a great weekend! The thread is funkin' OPEN.

Good morning, Tim ~~~
AOC is holding her own. She, along with her newly elected "progressive" cohort, is helping expose the "man behind the curtain" instead of ignoring. I read where the freshmen congress critters are in bipartisan workshops (corporate presenters=4, labor presenters=0 - AOC) and Gary Cohen formerly from Goldman Sachs told them they are way over their heads and don't know how the game is played, to which Rashida Tlaib tweeted, "No Gary, YOU don't know what's coming - a revolutionary Congress that puts people over profits." I think 2019 is going to be very interesting as everyone settles into their new roles.
Additionally, AOC has vowed to pay her interns $15/hr, whereas Schumer was soliciting for an unpaid press intern. He quickly changed his tune and offered pay. The ground is beginning to tremble under the feet of some of these dead-weight congress critters! Lovin' it!
Nice new tunes to write a comment by - thanks, Tim!
Have a beautiful day and weekend, folks!

What would really be cool is if one of the new representatives
would give a shout-out to the 99% in France and around the world, by appearing on the House floor and speaking, live on C-SPAN, wearing one of those yellow warning vests.
Yup!
It would be awesome, indeed!

It will be fun to watch

The article goes on to report that student protesters have shut down 200 schools. Furthermore, in a suburb of Paris two students have been seriously injured by rubber bullets shot by the police.
Updated to add what’s ahead for this weekend, according to Zero Hedge citing Le Figaro:

Updated again with tweet from France24 reporting that the government is dispatching armored vehicles to Paris.

Rubber bullets against peaceful high school demonstrators?
Too typical of neoliberals and other members of the right. (Yeah, I said it: neoliberals are rightists, and perhaps not even among the best rightists. I'm done with misleading euphemisms like "centrists" and "center right." The are rightists with a lot of rules about what is and is not politically correct languaging. Meanwhile, behind closed doors, they use the N word.)
In honor of Tim's funkin' Friday open thread, I'll add funk 'em, though in any other venue, I'd say fuck 'em twice.
I wore a hoodie during summer in solidarity with Trayvon Martin's family. I can sure wear a damned yellow vest in solidarity with kids being abused by funkin' neoliberals.
Was thinking the other day about cops/pigs,
Then I thought of stuff like this and how they're ALL on the other team. They ALL do the dirty work for the rich, just like the military. So the excuse that most are good people just doesn't cut it.
Cops think they are special citizens.
Many businesses think so too, because the cops protect them and not the people. Cops go around breaking laws all the time in the name of "pursuing enforcement!" (my term.). Many of these people are returning vets who think everyone is the enemy. I have no use for cops. I have no use for the military. They are all the same - not in our favor but in the favor of the elite they choose to protect.

The Hague should have been the judge of both Blair and 43.
But most of all, of the Clintons because they took Blair from liberal to neoliberal, just as they did with many Democratic politicians and politicians in other nations. Remember when Blair was called Clinton's poodle
For all the misery that eventuated from this, I hope there actually is a hell. From and the Clintons sure are suffering enough in this realm. And, nol, Hillary's losing to Trump and low ticket sales on the Clintons' speaking tour don't feel like no ways enough.

According to tradition, Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas) visits folks’ homes on the evening of December 5th.
None of this “do not open until Dec. 25th” nonsense
Christmas (“Kerst”) will still be an occasion for big family get-togethers, feasting, sacred music, and spiritual reflection, but in the Netherlands and Flanders the great gift-giving season
all pau awreddyis already over.P.S. The “Dad” or “Papa” (Edwin Rutten) in the video is exasperated by his kids’ unrealistic gift wish-lists and is singing: “I’m not Santa Claus, you know! I don’t have a money tree in the yard! My net worth is negative! If banknotes start sprouting from my back, you’ll be the first one I’ll tell.”

Good morning Funkmeister Tim and everyone!
I wish the best for AOC and the other 'younguns' who are coming into the House. The corporate/fascist corruption has been going on for so long, it's institutionalized and brazen. If we're to have any chance to combat climate change, the corruption has to be targeted and cleaned up fast. Rec'd!!
Talk about funky.

Snow this weekend here in western NC
It starts sometime tomorrow after raining all day and then is predicted to continue until Monday morning. Our street is a main cut through so it does get plowed early, but I probably will not be walking until at least Tuesday, depending on ice. Predictions are 8-13 inches. The dogs should have a ball playing in that stuff.
I was skeptical about AOC and how she would be once she got to DC, but I am very happy about how she continues to shake things up. I hope she can maintain fighting the system. We need a lot more like her.

Hey, NCTim!
In 2007-08, Obama re-taught me a powerful lesson I thought I'd learned much earlier: Wait and see. As to AOC and the other allegedly progressive Democrats elected in 2018, when campaigning like Sanders 2016 was "a thing," I'll wait and see.
Have a great Friday and weekend, Caucusers. Meanwhile, this goes out to
