But these words people threw around - humans, monsters, heroes, villains - it was all just a matter of semantics. Someone could call themselves a hero and still walk around killing dozens. Someone else could be labeled a villain for trying to stop them. Plenty of humans were monstrous, and plenty of monsters knew how to play at being human.

Do the bloviators think we are all fools?

Are there good fools? I do not see redeeming qualities among the accolytes.

Take a look around, fools.

Oh well, life goes on.

Yes, indeed, they think we are all fools because we are not stopping them in any serious way. Why? Maybe because we're waiting for our turn at the millionaires trough, watching TV, eating bonbons, shopping for that next great item to distract us from reality. We have been conditioned to be fools.

This fool is leaving on the red-eye jet plane to NY tonight. Off to help my son move to Boston, although all I can do is supervise (aw, poor me) because of my foot, which is safe in a massive boot. At least I can walk unaided! Looking forward to being in Boston - maybe we'll be there for a Red Sox victory parade. Quien sabe?

Have a beautiful day and weekend, folks! Pleasantry

It's raining steadily here, so no walking this morning. Tonight is the monthly gallery walk and we have several out of town friends coming. It is supposed to rain through the evening, so that is a bit of a spoiler for gallery walk but we are planning to go out to dinner anyway.

Tomorrow is one of the biggest holiday celebrations, the HalloweenFest, here in Brevard. Brevard is located in Transylvania County, NC and people here celebrate Halloween big time. Most houses in the downtown area are elaborately decorated for Halloween. Tomorrow will be the Halloween parade where whole families dress up in costumes. There is also a pumpkin carving contest and in the evenings during the month of October, there is the PumpkinFest, a scary walk through the grounds of Silvermont mansion. Like everything else in this town, there will be plenty of music at these events.

On Halloween proper, two in town neighborhoods are completely closed to vehicular traffic so that the children can trick or treat in safety. My walking partner lives in one of those neighborhoods and they expect at least 350 children to come by. Every year the decorations in these neighborhoods become more elaborate. Meanwhile, I live only 1/4 mile away, but we never get any trick or treaters due to our being on a very busy road with no sidewalks.

I hope everyone has a great day. And maybe the rain might just let up for gallery walk tonight.

@gulfgal98 The taverns, on the main street of town, are throwing a Halloween party tonight. As the townie DFH, I am obligated to make an appearance.

...at least it is wet here. Two inches overnight. I guess it was fairly dry because there's not much run off. And the roads didn't wash either.

Glad we got sweet potatoes dug before the rain. Lots of winter projects ahead. I'm rebuilding our garden fence and adding some warm frames / compost bins. Gonna use the compost heat to buffer cold frames. After 25 years our windows fogged up. I replaced them a couple of years ago and will use them on my project.

Have you gotten any color? We're just starting to see some. Seems every year the color change is later and later.

@Lookout is late this year, due to the lack of cold weather. From what I am told, we have to have the cold weather to stop the chlorophyll production in the trees. Normally, the third week of October would be peak leaf peeping time, but not much color anywhere, except in my back yard where the rhododendrons are prematurely blooming. I am guessing next spring will be pathetic for the rhododendrons since they would have already bloomed this fall.

Anyway, the guy that annually predicts fall color for this area is rating this year as a 2 or low 3 out of a possible ten. Sad

@Lookout Color change and bird migration primary factor is the amount of light in the day, meaning secondary factors like the frost date and season are having a significant impact.

here, but mostly SOS. It's like everything is on hold for a while. Nize tunes, lost in the Ruf playlist at the moment, but might have to pause it just to hear the rest. I do have to do something today, but I forget what at the moment.

@enhydra lutris I pulled out a guitar the other night. It has been a long time and I should have restarted after Sue died. I am finally back to 3 or 4 gym visits per week. The rain has me fighting the urge to nap and arrive at the Halloween festivities ready to be a bad influence.
