Bezos is getting into the play school business

Bezos to launch network of preschools: 'The child will be the customer'

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos on Wednesday announced a $2 billion philanthropic fund to finance a new network of preschools and contribute to nonprofits assisting homeless families.

Bezos said on Twitter that the schools would be located in underserved communities and would be operated by his new Bezos Day One Fund.

“We’ll use the same set of principles that have driven Amazon,” he said in his statement. “Most important among those will be genuine, intense customer obsession. The child will be the customer.”

Not everyone is being fooled by this kind gesture of the 163 billion dollar man. Jeffrey could have gone along with the Seattle plan to help fund the homeless there where people are being driven out of their homes because of rising housing and rental prices and because he doesn't pay his workers a living wage.

He and his wife, MacKenzie, recently made their first major political donation, giving $10 million to a super PAC dedicated to helping veterans in both parties get elected to Congress.

As the second tweet states, Bezos could have paid the Seattle tax with one hour of his income which is $11,000,000. After this generous donation Bezos is left with only $161 billion- $10 million.

and the "Bezos Day One Fund".

Dystopic words from a sociopathic (psychopathic?) mindset.

Translation: "Get 'em from Day One, right out of the womb, and they'll be mine for life."

He doesn't see people as human beings, but as things, whose purpose is to serve him. We are customers and consumers, and for those unlucky enough to be employed by him, replaceable and expendable cogs in the machinery. Not humans, with an intrinsic value apart from what we consume and produce.

Bezos makes the perfect poster boy for the global oligarchy. Maybe that's why Bernie is going after him. It's not just Bezos, but what he represents, the system that's devouring us.

There's this scene from Jim Henson's movie "The Dark Crystal", where the evil Skeksis have captured the Gelfling Kira. The Skeksis take him to their science lab, hook him up to some machinery, and start to drain his life essence from him. Drip, drip, drip ... you see his life essence as golden liquid draining into a flask, to be ingested by the Skeksis, who believe that imbibing the life essence of "lesser" beings will make them immortal.

That's what the global oligarchy reminds me of.

Turn your youngest, unformed, uninformed, not-yet uniformed kids, whose consciousness and sense of self is just beginning to coalesce, over to Big Bezos.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. /s

I saw him at the US bookseller's yearly conference in the mid-nineties in New Orleans. The panel on that conference was somewhat foggy about the idea how to sell books online on the www. They didn't get what that rather short man told them about it. It will be a revolution for the bookselling industry, he said, you better watch my words, he said.

Back at that time I was not sure, what I was more upset about, the little short man, or the Books in Print and Baker & Taylor database sellers for all books on the market to have given the little short man a license to publish their data that was exclusively tailored to the little short man and excluded all other booksellers for getting the same license. So Besoz could be the show-off big guy and trumpet out his over a million and then three million book titles you could order from him online. He was online around four month earlier than I went online. He worked on his warehouses, I shut down my online site after six weeks or so, understanding that there was no way to compete online.

I got that information about the exclusive license from Baker & Taylor directly over the phone, when I asked for a license to publish their data. They said they could offer me a license for only 300 000 book titles and when I asked why, they explained the exclusivity for ALL books in print that Bezos got. I just don't remember the year, but it must have been shorly after 1994. It's history and I have no interest to look it up. Besoz developed his website at the same time I did mine. He was a Wall Street guy and I was a dreaming, dumb blond housewife and immigrant in the US, working in the early eighties in one of the finest independent scientific bookstore in Washington DC as a little shelving mouse. It was my first job I had in the US, as to work in my field of education from Germany, I needed US State Departments approval.. and they work very, very slow. So, I ended up in a scientific bookstore (That bookstore also didn't survive. The kids took it over, but not sucessfully. These days even all the big bookstore chaines like Borders and Barnes and Nobles are closing or closed down at many, many places. The island of Maui has no bookstore anymore, it used to have Borders and Barnes & Nobles. The only store left there is the College bookstore)

Can't help it, it was still a nice little job at the Washington DC scientific bookstore, though the Jewish owner couldn't quite surpress his opinion of what he thought about German blonde housewives. But I mean you get used to everything and I could empathize with him ... so no biggie.

they do in their pampers.

He bought his license to post more than 1 milion booktitles on the web, by bribing the booktitle database providers to give him the exclusive rights to do so and excluding any other bookseller to do the same.

Now he bribes millions of mothers to sell off their kids to his network of day-care centers.

What do you call people, who have no shame for anything they do? This guy has an obsession for kiddos? ...
He better take off his hands of mine.

Ok, I am biased, one of the rare people I can not forgive for what they did.

for Germany's brick and mortar booksellers. Lately I bought Chris Hedges latest book and I bought Bob Woodward's book (despite people saying here to not give him money for his book). In my little town of may be 45 thousand, we used to have three independent bookstores in the early sixties. They competed against each other and could survive.

Today there is only one and a pretty boring one, not many titles on the shelves. Another one is within a store comparable to an independet little 'Kaufhaus for everything', which works amazingly well for over six decades.

I asked them how and from whom they order the books for their customers and if they do it over Amazon's distribution system. The lady bookseller laughed and said: 'no way, we order from our distributor directly and they have those in their warehouses. They could get the book within one to three days.

As books are so expensive, I used Amazon in the past for buying used books. Nowadays I don't do even that anymore. I ask an independent bookseller to find the book for me, making sure they are not working with Amazon's distribution network. You may have to wait a little longer for the books to arrive, but I don't mind.

"The child will be the customer.”

This is totally disgusting to me. A child is not a customer in any shape or form. A child is a human being who needs love and nurturing, not "customer service."

I suspect Bezos' form of customer service is turn children into little bots to be used for whatever purpose Bezos deems fit in order make him wealthier and more powerful than he already is. It sends chills down my spine to think this predator is now in the child care business.

Today is the day I'm supposed to close my bank account since I've opened one at a credit union.

Amegy Bank recently changed their fee schedule on checking accounts. For the kids, and with one account type, you pay a certain fee if your balance falls below a certain amount in a month. For the other kids checking account, you'll pay a smaller fee if you use your debit card a certain number of times during the month.

They're encouraging kids to spend, not save.

My son, before he had a driver's license, received a check from the American Legion, or some similar org, for a summer program he was awarded. The check was from a bank in the next small town over. He couldn't cash it at that bank because no state ID. So, I had him endorse it over to me and took it to my local Amegy branch. The teller said she'd do it this one time, and "allowed" me to deposit it, and w/d cash in that amount despite having much more than that amount in my account to cover it if it bounced. She said he needed to open an account. I said he didn't like the thought of paying fees to have an account. She said, "He's going to have to, eventually."

Slave makers. Between the banks, the ads, and movies/social media, our kids are being taught the wrong things regarding money. What on earth will Amazon schools teach kids?

about a wealthy bastard who was in cryogenic stasis. Science had found a cure for what had killed him, but during the time he was frozen the trust that was handling his estate had achieved a monopoly on the entire world. Now the directors had the question, should they turn over coltrol of everything to someone who is satanically evil, just because a will says that they have to?

Amazon has just announced "content guidelines" for its book department. So far the only books banned are books about Demexit (well, a similar movement that I don't remember the name of but has been denounced as a Republican front)

Curious, I went to see if they allowed Mein Kampf to be sold on the site, and there it was. FeeBay quit allowing the sale of Nazi "memorabilia" years ago.

I wonder how many books I'll be allowed to keep once my prime membership expires and can't be renewed because I removed my bank card some months back, and actually closed the bank account less than an hour ago. I've downloaded them, but will they disappear when my prime membership expires? We shall see.

But the point was that they are selective, and the only thing they are selecting is anti Hillbot literature, without explanation. What's next, a biography of Beernie Sanders?
You do know that Mein Kampf was published in America to expose Naziism, right?

@doh1304 This is why you can't have freedom of expression without, if not socialism, at least some restraint on capitalism. You don't need a government to ban a book if Jeff Bezos can make the book hard enough to get.
