Is Joe Lieberman's terrifying nightmare coming true?
Back in 2016, right after the election, former Sen. Joe Lieberman gave what he probably considered a dire warning.
To the Democratic Party in particular, which not only failed to regain either chamber of Congress but also lost the White House, Leiberman said he thinks there will be a "real attempt by the left-left" to take command of the party.
"It's not the party I worked so hard for when Bill Clinton was president," Lieberman said on John Catsimatidis' radio show "The Cats Roundtable."

It turns out that Lieberman's nightmare is beginning to come to pass.
So in response, in order to save the Democratic Party, Lieberman wrote an op-ed in the anti-Dem WallStreetJournal, calling for the defeat of the Democratic Party candidate.
"Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s surprise primary victory over Rep. Joe Crowley seems likely to hurt Congress, America and the Democratic Party. It doesn’t have to," Lieberman wrote in an op-ed published Tuesday in The Wall Street Journal."Because the policies Ms. Ocasio-Cortez advocates are so far from the mainstream, her election in November would make it harder for Congress to stop fighting and start fixing problems."
Lieberman noted that Crowley's name will still be on the ballot as the nominee of the Working Families Party.
“Thanks to a small percentage of primary votes, all of the people of New York’s 14th Congressional District stand to lose a very effective representative in Washington,” Lieberman wrote. “Fortunately, Joe Crowley and the voters in his district can prevent this damage.”

Lieberman's concern for the Democratic Party didn't extend to 2008, when he endorsed McCain.
The former Democratic veep candidate beat Democratic primary winner Lamont in 2006 in no small part by becoming the de facto candidate of the state’s Republican Party.
Lieberman then went on Fox News to double-down on his stand against progressive values.
"When I see somebody who really says she's a socialist -- she's a very captivating, charismatic candidate -- when you look at those policies, those policies will not be supported in many places across America," former Sen. Joe Lieberman told Fox News."If her win makes her into what Kellyanne Conway called the new face of the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party's not going to have a very bright future," Lieberman said.

I suspect they don't hate Tulsi Gabbard for any of the reasons they gave (She did oppose same sex marriage in 2004, but so did Obama in 2008, and they both evolved on this issue in following years). They just have a beef with her questioning Queen Debbie's decision to limit the debates in the 2016 primary, and her support for eliminating "superdelegates," which by their very name reject democracy.

1. The incumbent advantage.
2. Republicans fell just short of campaigning against the Republikcan candidate.
3. High-profile Democrats, such as Obama and Hillary, shredded Lamont during the primary, in an effort to help Lieberman defeat Lamont, then did not give Lamont full-throated, high visibility support during the general. (Democrats are hostile to primary challengers.) To repay Democrats, Lieberman went on the campaign trail in favor of McCain and against Obama, who won handily despite Lieberman's betrayal.
Oh, and honest people don't typically refer to a clear majority of primary votes as "a small percentage of primary votes."

Actually he could. All it would take is for him to change his voter's registration from New York to Virginia, where he's owned a home for the past 14 years and where he, his wife and kids live.
But he doesn't want to "move" from New York.
With very few exceptions, the WFP has been just another
way of voting Democrat. Oh, and the very few exceptions of which I am aware involved the WFP running the Republican candidate instead of the Democrat.
Intentionally or not, the WFP has served as the political party equivalent of a stalking horse or sheep dog candidate.

As if a Democratic candidate cares if you vote for
him or her via the Democratic ticket or the WFP ticket.
Also, you always vote for a candidate, never for a party per se. Therefore, the WFP is not giving anyone another "place" to go, just another way of voting Democrat--a classic example of a distinction without a difference.
Obviously, I am among the some who would say "What's the difference?" between the Demlicans and the Republicrats; and, I think the Green Party is far better than both.
Well, WFP is the same
as Greens in terms
of "party status." Both are parties, and at least in NY you need a certain percentage of votes to remain one. So... in one sense, at least, one indeed is voting for a party (as well as a candidate). Otherwise why would candidates seek running on various party lines? And, if enough voters voted on the WFP line instead of the Dim line, the Dim party in NY would cease to be. Exaggerated example but true. So, WFP is as relevant as Greens or any other 3rd party - and more relevant in my opinion.

Warren should be called the Empty Dress senator. Sure she gives fire and brimstone speeches that make the bank CEOs quiver in their boots, but nothing comes from them. She votes with the democrats on just about every bill that both parties want passed, she voted to confirm most of Trump's cabinet picks including the brain dead Ben Carson.
But now that she has admitted that she is a capitalist it makes sense that she didn't endorse Bernie during the primary. Never forget that she used to be a republican before she decided that she looks better as a democrat. She has company as a capitalist. Pelosi said that she is one too. Guess that's something to be proud of.
I doubt bankers shake in their boots because of
Warren's speeches. Unlike many voters, bankers understand the difference between a public position and a private position. They understand that Warren is a Senator from Massachusetts, so she has to speak, at a minimum, "left-ish." However, they also know that not a single bill she has authored has become law.
