Only the Star Wars series has had a similar effect -- the fact that what was once a joke played on UK, Australian, and NZ census statisticians has grown into the Jedi Religion, whereas V for Vendetta eventually became Anonymous, Occupy, and eventually the Sanderista political revolution.
