Peter Strzok is No Hero (text and video)

The Neolib Centrist orgasm over disgraces FBI agent Peter Strzok's testimony yesterday inspired me to do another video: [video:https://youtu.be/v1VanYk8xfg]

Just a reminder that Strzok not only was biased against Trump, but also against Bernie Sanders, as his texts with his then FBI girlfriend clearly showed:

Recently reassigned Mueller team member and Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”) Agent Peter Strzok slammed former Democratic presidential primary candidate Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in recently released text messages.

And so did his alleged mistress, Lisa Page, an FBI attorney.

Page wrote, “I just saw my first Bernie Sander [sic] bumper sticker. Made me want to key the car,” to which Strzok replied:

He’s an idiot like Trump. Figure they cancel each other out.

Strzok was involved in both the shoddy investigation into the Clinton email server scandal, and was also assigned to work on FBI's investigation into alleged collusion between Russia and Trump campaign known as #Russiagate, an investigation that has produced little if any evidence of either actual collusion with Russia, or evidence that Russia's actions had any impact on Hillary Clinton's loss to Trump. Yet, this disgraced FBI agent, who was removed from the Mueller investigation once his biased texts about Trump came out, is a hero to Centrist Democrats. Why? Because he out-shouted a bunch of GOP members of the House Intelligence Committee yesterday.

Yet the bias he displayed toward both Trump and Sanders was unethical. He should have recused himself from both the FBI's Clinton and Trump investigations. The Inspector General's report of his conduct was highly damning.

More importantly, his description of Sanders as an idiot like Trump is deeply disturbing, as it shows bias favoring Clinton likely existed at the time he was involved in the investigation into her use of an external server to send, receive and store emails regarding official State Department business, including those that contained classified material. An investigation so shoddy and compromised that FBI director Comey, not Attorney General Lynch, took it upon himself to shut down by announcing he would not prefer charges against Clinton. A reminder, that event came shortly after the infamous Bill Clinton meeting with Lynch on the tarmac at the Phoenix airport.

Sanders' accomplishments speak for themselves. Perhaps the most significant one occurred during the Obama years. It was his successful campaign to get Obama to drop his "Grand Bargain" with Speaker Boehner, where Obama was willing and adamant about cutting social security benefits. An achievement so significant that by 2016, Obama reversed his position and came out for expanding benefits, something Clinton was also forced to do.

[Bernie] mobilized a wide coalition or organizations, including veterans, women’s rights groups, and labor unions to oppose chained CPI.

Under this intense activist pressure, the White House was unable to convince its own allies in Congress that this change was worth the political costs. The next year, the chained CPI was quietly dropped from Obama’s budget proposal.

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton’s evolution on the issue could also be traced to Sanders. Clinton initially shied away from the question of expanding the program, issuing only noncommittal statements on the issue. But after being directly challenged on the Social Security program this past February by the Sanders campaign, Clinton tweeted, “As always, I’ll defend it, & I’ll expand it.”

Bernie is no idiot. On the contrary, he's that rare politician who has inspired a movement within and without the Democratic party to elect progressives. The rapid increase in Democratic Scoialist organizations would not have been possible without his camapign in 2016. In a country run by the wealthy elites this movement is our last best hope to regain control of our government from the duopoly party system, parties that are both owned and controlled by billionaire oligarchs, like the Koch brothers.

On the other hand, anyone who thinks Peter Strzok is a hero is definitely either an idiot or a shill for the neoliberal/centrist wing of the Democratic party.

Every single time people notice, they keep trying to pull out the "Savior" narrative. How many times is this now?

Ugh... We know the game.

I guess Crowley must be a woman in drag because not supporting a woman candidate...

Rather hear the Dems trash Tulsi Gabbard to make the distinction between war and no war a little more sharper... The Dems are now the new "war party" - it sickens me how we have been thrown overboard in hopes of bringing in votes by the "YouTube Antifa dolts" into voting Democratic - which they will be "no shows"...

@fakenews

Oh sure they liked to act like they were against them, but since 9/11 and after they voted for the AUMF they have voted to continue funding every war. Plus they stayed silent when Obama started taking drones into countries that had nothing to do with 9/11 and the original AUMF. This also named Al Qaida as the terrorist organization that was responsible for the attack. When new terrorist groups were created Obama should have had to return to congress for authorization to fight them. Just forget that inconvenient fact that it was this country and allies that created them in the first place.

But since Trump was elected yes it does seem that it's the democrats who are putting up roadblocks to peace. Starting with North Korea.

So my comment here is based solely upon the hour and a half I did see and may not reflect the entire tone of the hearing. After just an hour and a half, I felt the compulsion to take a very long hot shower to remove the detritis that might have gotten on me from watching the hearing.

First, there were no heroes. Everyone looked bad as both the Republicans and the Democrats used the hearing to try to make political points instead of actually asking questions of Strzok that might have shed some light upon what is going on. It was a circus sideshow as far as I am concerned. The public does not want to hear political statements by elected officials which is what most of the Democrats did. The republicans were not much better although some did actually ask questions of Strzok. Of the bunch that I watched, both Democrats and Republicans, Goodlatte came off the best.

As far as Strzok himself, he came off as an arrogant SOB. I had difficulty watching his facial expressions which reeked of self importance and hubris. Heck, even Rod Rosenstein came off more likable than Strzok. What I saw in Strzok was the outward manifestation of the arrogance of neoliberalism.

Yet the bias he displayed toward both Trump and Sanders was unethical. He should have recused himself from both the FBI's Clinton and Trump investigations. The Inspector General's report of his conduct was highly damning.

The question that I asked of myself was were we actually learning anything from this hearing?

It was obvious from the information released that Strozk and his girlfriend Page that they were so biased against Trump and that they should have been removed from both investigations.

The IG report (that was swept off the news by the child immigrants) and now that hearing with congress's behavior that we have been being played to believe that anyone who breaks laws at the higher levels will never be held accountable. What the Obama justice system did with help from the party's candidate was worse than some 'burglars' breaking watergate. But back then congress had some sense of dignity and held public hearings on the investigation into it which saw a president resign in disgrace. But we are seeing that Obama's actions in the FBI and others trying to entrap the people in the Trump campaign being rewarded with $400,000 an hour speeches and Hillary's donors are still sending her money to possibly run again. But even if she doesn't they are spending money to help her make sure that the DP doesn't move too far to the left.

Meanwhile people are hurting because neither party gives a damn about them.

@gulfgal98 I actually watched hours of that debacle and was embarrassed and angered by the whole spectacle. I thought Trey Gowdy did a good job of doing his job, but I miss the simple and profound eloquence of Barbara Jordan. We citizens need to tear down and replace more than just the FBI. How did things get so bad, and on our watch?

@gulfgal98 the repubs didn't look good, and I was hoping they would clearly make the point about abuse of power for political reasons.

The repubs didn't need to be so obnoxious, for example, asking strzok to repeat his texts out loud over and over was just gratuitous.

Then that idiot repub decided to bring up Strk's affair, and the repub sounded like a drunken idiot when he was speaking - almost like Maxine Waters.

And 10 hours of testimony??? Give me a break. That is abusive in and of itself.

The repubs probably should have delayed Strk's public hearing until after they talked with Paige; now she can provide testimony congruous with what he said.

I tested my objectivity - would I want BO or HRC to be subject to an investigation by an FBI agent who had texted the contents of what Strk did? No, I wouldn't. As much as I dislike BO and HRC, the animus displayed is just too much to think that any fairness existed.

Most of us on this blog don't believe that Russia interfered with the election or did any of the things that they are accused of doing. Why are we able to see this for the farce it is?

Why do the people who do believe everything that the intelligence agencies, congress and others tell them do so? Is it because they think that it's the only way that Her could have lost to Trump? Most of the people who do believe in Russia Gate not only used to be skeptical of what the intelligence agencies told them, but they were against the war on terror because they knew that Saddam didn't have WMDs and the Iraqi invasion was for oil. But when Obama said that the country had a right to protect the civilians in Libya from Gaddafi's troops who were attacking his citizens and raping women and giving the troops viagra they believed him as they did when he said that Assad gassed his citizens. Most of us saw threw those things too. Was that because we saw Obama for who he was?

Also there was once a time when they wanted to bring our troops out of the bases in countries across the pond and put the money spent on them into this country and its people. But when Trump suggested that he wanted to pull the troops out Germany they freaked out because they think that if that happens then Putin will immediately attack Germany. I'm not kidding. I've seen people saying this just this week.

So why did we take the red pill and why are others even considering taking it? Anyone know the answer to this? Is it because blind allegiance to Hillary and Barry? I commented yesterday that Obama is considered to be the greatest president in our lifetime. Even after all the deaths he caused, letting war criminals off as well as the economic criminals.

Good to see you again, Steven.

@snoopydawg Yah, that is the proverbial $64,000 question how intelligent people could go back on their previous beliefs, and people who were skeptical of authority, or just skeptical of inconsistencies of fact, etc. could passionately believe in the whole Russiagate hoax.

From some organizations I think it is now a matter of money/profit. I am convinced that TOP, TYT, major media outlets and pundits like Maddow going full bore Russiagate paranoia is a conscious business decision. Reporting and instigating is profitable. I think even an outlet like The Intercept has gone there by bringing on Risen and some other pro-imperialist writers. (I don't think those are Glenn Greenwald's decsion.) In the case of TYT not going Russiagate mad would have lost them viewership. And so these outlets stoke fear and tribal hatreds and loyalities.

I highly recommend reading this article about how bad things got in Syria after Obama started trying to overthrow Assad. One tidbit from it.

While arming rebels threatening the massacre of Alawite civilians in Latakia, US planners were at the same time welcoming the potential massacre of Syrian civilians in Damascus. The Syrian capital was on the verge of falling to the Islamic State (ISIS) in the summer of 2015 after ISIS, with the help of Nusra, captured all of the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp in the southern Damascus suburbs. The New York Times acknowledged the ISIS threat to Damascus at this time, observing that “By seizing much of the camp” ISIS had “made its greatest inroads yet into Damascus,” while the Washington Post noted that “Their new push puts [ISIS] within five miles of the heart of the capital . . . even as they are on the retreat in Iraq.”

In a private meeting with members of the Syrian opposition, Secretary of State John Kerry acknowledged that US planners had actually welcomed the ISIS advance on Damascus, in an effort to use it as leverage to force Assad to give up power. Kerry explained that, “the reason Russia came in is because ISIL [ISIS] was getting stronger. Daesh [ISIS] was threatening the possibility of going to Damascus. And that is why Russia came in. They didn’t want a Daesh [ISIS] government and they supported Assad. And we know this was growing. We were watching. We saw that Daesh [ISIS]was growing in strength. And we thought Assad was threatened. We thought we could manage that Assad might then negotiate. Instead of negotiating, he got Putin to support him.

Apparently Obama and Kerry didn't have any problem putting ISIS in charge of the Syrian government. Guess that isn't surprising after they installed neo Nazis into Ukraine's government. Best president my ass!
