DNC asks for Trump's help in suing Russia

The Democrats have gone off the rails.
The DNC's Russiagate lawsuit was always unenforceable, and now we've arrived at a logical conclusion.

The Democratic National Committee is seeking a court order that would essentially force President Donald Trump’s administration to aid the group’s lawsuit accusing Russia of interfering in the 2016 election.

Enlisting Secretary of State Mike Pompeo through a provision of the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act "is the only means available to the plaintiff" to formally serve Russia with the complaint, the DNC said Friday in a filing in federal court in Manhattan. Russia generally refuses to accept U.S. legal complaints in the mail, according to the filing.

The group also wants the State Department’s help in serving the complaint on the GRU, Russia’s military spy service, and the GRU operative using the pseudonym Guccifer 2.0, who had claimed to have hacked the DNC’s computers.

The DNC sued Russia, the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks in April, claiming hacks on its computers inflicted “profound damage” on the party by undermining its effort to communicate “values and vision" and by creating internal discord. The suit could force Trump’s 2016 staffers to answer questions under oath about campaign activities. And evidence gathered by the DNC could be made public in court filings and at a trial -- in contrast to information obtained through Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.

So they want the Trump Administration's help in a lawsuit in which Trump is himself named in.
And if the Trump Administration refuses, then what? What if Trump correctly argues that we shouldn't make foreign policy via domestic political lawsuits?
Will they scream that Trump is colluding?
Been there, done that.

And how exactly did Russia 'undermine its effort to communicate “values and vision"?' That would require the Dems actually having "values and vision" to begin with.
What values did they have except female genitals?

At the same time, the Senate Dems want to know why the Trump Administration isn't belligerent enough toward Russia.

A trio of key Democratic senators is calling on agency watchdogs to investigate why the Trump administration has not fully implemented mandated sanctions on Russia.

The lawmakers sent a letter Friday asking the inspectors general of the State Department, Treasury Department and the intelligence community to examine the administration's failure to impose the financial penalties on Russia.

There's no need to investigate. I could answer their questions.
a) the sanctions aren't working
b) we are undermining our standing with our allies for being sanction-happy.

Republicans, don't blow the midterms by scaring off the working class

Building on a strong base of working-class voters, Trump ushered in a national industrial agenda for America. The preservation of his agenda will rest largely on maintaining a legislative majority committed to re-industrialization after the midterm elections. Most importantly, this will depend on union and working-class Democrats understanding that President Trump’s job-creating industrial agenda is what’s really on the ballot.

It will also depend on Republican candidates avoiding frightening working-class voters with threats to repeal legislative protections on the books since the Roosevelt era. Republican candidates hinting at the repeal of the Davis-Bacon Act, the Jones Act, or the passage of a national right-to-work law will lose local elections and all but guarantee a negative outcome for industrial workers.

Industrial workers understand that the progressive leadership of the Democratic Party is not the party of John Kennedy, Scoop Jackson, Warren Magnuson, Hubert Humphrey or Sam Nunn, all of whom understood the relationship between a strong industrial base and America’s national security. Local unions know that, if progressive Democrats win, industrial workers will likely lose their jobs. But they also fear that if anti-union Republicans win, they could lose their union.

IOW, Bernie Sanders' agenda is bad for the GOP.

long enough to thoroughly alienate any remaining allies who might conceivably help the US accomplish something, somewhere. It's only by diplomatic isolation that the US might be able to break its addiction to oil and wars.

It prolongs the investigation. Course, it will turn up NOTHING, since Russia certainly won't accept American Sovereignty over their citizens... Which will result in a lot of saber rattling and talk about war, or NEAR war... Resulting in another couple of years where nobody actually has to actually talk policy.

So, yeah, I think I already know what's going to happen. At least the gameplan. These assholes do tend to repeat themselves.

Entering Russia would become a “military nightmare” for any army, according to a rating of the hardest countries to invade compiled by Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.

Military might, the size of territory and the difficulty of terrain are among the key factors that determine the country’s defensive capability, the paper wrote.

Based on these criteria, the Swedish journalists pointed out that “whoever considers the idea of invading Russia must be prepared to handle all kinds of terrain.” The enemy would face desolate mountains, impenetrable swamps, frozen tundra, turbulent rivers, and dark forests in Russia, they said, adding that hot summers and chilling winters would also pose a challenge.

“And then we have the Russians themselves, who for thousands of years, having participated in both large-scale wars and guerrilla warfare, gained a lot of experience,” the article said.

The conclusions made by Svenska Dagbladet are backed by Russian history itself, as the country has never been conquered since the creation of a centralized state in Russia in the early 15th century. The Russians have thwarted all attempts to invade their land, defeating among others the armies of French Emperor Napoleon in 1812 and Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler in 1941-45 – who were both considered unstoppable at the time.

Switzerland and New Zealand also made it into the paper’s rankings. Despite having a rather small military of just 150,000 troops, the Swiss state remains a hard nut to crack due to it being surrounded by the Alps. It also has a lot defensive facilities, as well as bridges and roads, which could be blown up to hamper the aggressor’s advance, the article read.

Conquering New Zealand would be problematic from a logistical point of view, the authors said. The island state is located more than 2,000km from the nearest large landmass, Australia, which would make supplying the invading troops with arms and necessities “almost impossible.”
