All you need to do is follow the Dems
Best viewed if you play Pink Floyd while reading.
Ooooh you can’t impeach me now
Ooooh no matter how you try
Goodbye working class it’s over
Walk on by
Now that he’s elected, gonna build his wall
Waiting for the Dems to come
In perfect isolation, here behind his wall
Waiting for the Dems to come
Waiting to cut out the deadwood
Waiting to clean up big guvmint
Waiting to follow the Dems
Waiting to put on a black shirt
Waiting to weed out the weaklings
Waiting to smash in their windows
And kick in their doors
Waiting for the final solution
To strengthen the strain
Waiting to follow the Dems
Waiting to wage war on terror and kill some brown people
Waiting for the queers and the coons
And the Berniecrats and anybody but the Jews
Waiting to follow the Dems
Would you like to make America
Great again, my friend?
All you have to do is follow the Dems
Would you like to send our latin neighbors
Home again my friend
All you need to do is follow the Dems.

These two private organzations controlling our government
for the oligarchy need to be challenged. This year would be a good year. Good as any. There's an election coming up, in case people didn't know.
The Democrats, a story in 4 chapters
This story has been approved for literacy by the Hillbot Educational Foundation
The real truth:
Surprise!
Seeing the light:
Taking action.
Nope & Noper
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
the thing that irritates me
on both sides, is impeachment does not automatically equal removal from office. Come on, it wasn't THAT long ago we impeached a president, but he stayed in office.
This shit is bananas.
Yep
If the House votes to impeach, then it goes to the Senate. The Senate holds a trial -- a formal legal proceeding -- in order to decide whether to convict the president of the charges set forth in the impeachment. It's a process, in which formal procedures have to be followed. It takes time, and as in a regular trial, the accused person (in this case, the POTUS) has rights that must be protected.

"If you want revolution, be it."

But now we have settled law in impeachment.
Some crimes can be fast-tracked.
For example, now when a President lies about a blow job, the House can fast-track the trial. Why waste time. There is a precedence. Guilty.
America can be proud to see "the rule of law" in action.
the full impeachment process
The full impeachment process does "equal removal from office". But no President has ever had the process taken to the point of conviction. Nixon resigned; Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were both beneficiaries of failed conviction votes. (Johnson by only one vote!)

We also let one quit
And then he was pardoned and the rest is history. Would things be different if Ford hadn't pardoned Nixon? We'll never know. But war criminals have never been prosecuted either.
BTW, Bush is saying that he wasn't so bad after all, was he? Hell yes he was. His saying that is like saying that Hitler wasn't as bad as Stalin or some other rotten bastard.
The message echoes from Gaza back to the US. “Starving people is fine.”
To be fair,
Idolizing a politician is like believing the stripper really likes you.
I was creeped out by your fifth cartoon.
“Brave enough to kill our babies. Too cowardly to kill our enemies.”
Really??? Ewww!
"The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?" ~Orwell, "1984"
I was too.
I almost said "me too."
But that has become so convoluted, which I was remind of from Dave Chappelle's great bit on #MeToo and stopped (if you haven't seen his Netflix specials, “The Bird Revelation” and "Equanimity," you're missing one of the best comedic social commentaries in years).
Yeah, that is a very typical, vile RW meme. An attempt to engender fealty to tough guy, he-man Republican Party bullshit war propaganda, while also maligning LW stances on a women's right to choose. The irony of it, of being pro war and against abortion.
The singular power of the abortion issue is so great that it turns malleable, not very bright, mostly self-professed religious people into obsessed one-issue voters, manipulated to blindly vote R every time (but not realizing they've just pulled the lever instead for business deregulation and tax cuts for the rich).
One of the best skewers of the American abortion battle:

Best line in that Dave Chappelle special
Was comparing Trump's presidency to finding a crack pipe in the back seat of the uber car you just got into.

Ha! Yeah that was a good one too, zoebear.
There were so many, that I began transcribing some of the bits that struck me hardest for a possible essay on radical comedians who challenge the status quo.
Ever see this? It's the first part of four of a sit down interview/film he did with Maya Angelou (you'll want to watch it all):
There were at least a few times in those Netflix special when I perceived the spirit of Maya to be coming through him...
"If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph:
THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED
FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
WAS MUSIC"
- Kurt Vonnegut
Powerful stuff.
You almost got the feeling they forgot they were being filmed at certain points of the interview. Especially when she talked about people having a line that they won't cross for any amount of money. The look they gave each other in that moment showed an understanding and a connection that was palpable.
I was also struck with Angelou's re-telling of her meeting with Tupac (when she didn't even know who he was).
"Has anyone told you how important you are?"
An amazing woman. That story brought tears to my eyes as well.
But I think the take away quote from that interview was her wisdom about courage and love. Without either one, it will be impossible to accomplish anything else of value.
Such humanity. Thank you so much for sharing this video!

The story he told about Emmett Till
And the white woman who confessed on her death bed that she lied about her encounter with Till. Yes, I agree. Maya's wisdom had permeated deep in his bones. A moment of grace, you might say, to witness him re-tell that gut wrenching part of our history and excavate the humanity out of the ugliness.

It was more about the white flag
And now I have.
what happens to you when all the comedian's
cartoons and messages and videos don't work to relieve you from your own desperation anymore?
Are you serious?
