(The great unraveling begins?): Republican Senators Raise Possible Charges Against Author of Trump Dossier
I bet the conversations at the Clinton abode are pretty damn interesting. It’s sure got old Di Fi upset. She’s still demanding everyone focus on RUSSA! RUSSA! RUSSA!
Republican Senators Raise Possible Charges Against Author of Trump Dossier

WASHINGTON — More than a year after Republican leaders promised to investigate Russian interference in the presidential election, two influential Republicans on Friday made the first known congressional criminal referral in connection with the meddling — against one of the people who sought to expose it.Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, a senior committee member, told the Justice Department they had reason to believe that a former British spy, Christopher Steele, lied to federal authorities about his contacts with reporters regarding information in the dossier, and they urged the department to investigate. The committee is running one of three congressional investigations into Russian election meddling, and its inquiry has come to focus, in part, on Mr. Steele’s explosive dossier that purported to detail Russia’s interference and the Trump campaign’s complicity.
The decision by Mr. Grassley and Mr. Graham to single out the former intelligence officer behind the dossier — and not anyone who may have taken part in the Russian interference — infuriated Democrats and raised the stakes in the growing partisan battle over the investigations into Mr. Trump, his campaign team and Russia.
Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, said she had not been consulted about the referral, which she called “unfortunate.”
“It’s clearly another effort to deflect attention from what should be the committee’s top priority, determining whether there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the election and whether there was subsequent obstruction of justice,” she said

ToP is unreadable on this
They are elevating Steele as a hero, ignoring the possibility that he's a complete fraud, meanwhile they're claiming that Graham is being blackmailed for being gay. The place capricious, crazy and amoral.

Red State...
and Orange State... just a little yellow being the difference.
Convinced crazies revving each other up.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
Not just for being gay
They have accused him and other republicans of either being blackmailed because of the information from the RNC hack or because they too are in Putin's pockets. The mind twists they are able to do is amazing. If one idea doesn't pan out then they come up with another one. It's quite frightening to see so many people taken in about this.

You can't build another deck on this ship of fools.
The entire situation is built on a hoax. Bullshit search warrants, pretend hackers, and paranoid denial.
These attempts to take the work product of that psychosis and criminalize it is just as idiotic. Opposition research is not obligated to be the truth and nothing but the truth. It's a dirty world and it comes in raw, threaded with insinuation and rumor. The campaign analyzes it and decides what, if anything, can be used. It's up to them to vet it — if they decide to smear the opposition with it — because there is risk attached if the leak cannot be proved.
If you give it to the FBI (which is beyond the pale and a twisted smear in an of itself) then it is their job to investigate and see if anything that his not clearly preposterous needs to be verified. The FBI that I know would never even consider an obvious piece of crap like Steele's dossier.
This latest kabuki, proves beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the entire congress is utterly corrupt and/or stupid. Probably both.
There is only one crime that was committed here, and they are pretending they do not see it.
Who is going to answer for the FBI and the Democratic Party intentionally terrorizing the American people over the past 18 months with a potential nuclear war with Russia — with not a shred of solid evidence that legitimately proves that this entire affair was not a deliberate hoax? There have been serious damages and ignorance is no excuse for it.
Those people will own that crime forever. It's smeared all over them. And everybody knows it.
Opposition research only applies to one of the parties
when Hillary did that by paying Steele, a British citizen, it was opposition research. When Don Jr. did it with the Russian woman it was collusion. Why the difference? Because... reasons.

@snoopydawg Well obviously Hillary
Well obviously Hillary was in collusion with the Brits
Yep. And the Saudis and Qatar and....
every other country that donated to her foundation. How people can not see that what she did with her foundation during her tenure is.... words.
The republicans say that they are going to reopen the investigation into her foundation during that time, but does anyone believe anything will come from it?

The answer depends on the limits of Trump's patience.
