, in this neck of the woods. We're mostly at the mercy of the weather gods. And, to be fair, twenty years ago I wouldn't have even blinked at this weather, but the older I get the less I like driving in it. I'm pretty sure I've run out of my winter driving nine lives, having too many close calls to count, one I'm sure involving divine intervention. Hell, my car ended up on all four wheels, and I walked away without a scratch. But, I'm pretty sure I've used up those nine lives.
#3 It's so beautiful up where y'all are. I have been there multiple times (there's an Irish Lit conference at Cortland).
But I imagine the roads are treacherous under winter conditions. It's pretty hilly/mountainous.

was looking dim. And I have a brand new car battery this week after multiple jump-starts. My duaghter had a pre-dawn ride into work the other day with no evidence of overnight plow activity. She ended up with one set of tires on the rumble strip to stay on the road! I think Cortland schools are closed tomorrow as well.

I was so looking forward to the fried oyster sandwich but the weather really turned ugly this morning. Now 15 degrees with 30 mph winds, gusting to 44, and I'm flying through the wood pile. Starting to look around appraisingly at the furniture. I never really liked that drop leaf table, but it's walnut which burns like paper. I love NY!
