Russiagate crosses the Rubicon

This is scary.

Really?!? Congressional subpoenas for comedians?!?
This is insane.
But not insane in a funny way.

this is going in a direction that is close to what happened during the McCarthy days. Congress has spent a year investigating this propaganda and I'm just amazed by how many people are buying into this. This whole thing has been made up by the Clinton campaign and the FBI. Don't the people who are buying this wonder why the FBI wasn't allowed to see the DNC computers?

Great point about the things Obama did. He got a complete pass for what he did by the people who were out in the streets when Bush did them on ToP. They don't have anyone who is writing about what's happening in the Middle East. I guess those people went off in disgust when they were attacked if they did write about it. I know that joe used to do this and he got hammered for it.
I did too whenever I wrote anything that didn't make Obama look good. Sad

I remember when the Pokémon BS started. I haven't heard much about it lately.

by pathetic Dems gets more and more insidious.

Was just checking this out while laying down for a nap, but fell asleep from exhaustion early into it. Am listening now...but may have to come back to check in later (kids, cars to move, etc.)

He's one of the last vestiges of radicals in the media. Has a show on WBAI, has been a long-time activist for prisoners' rights, does really funny voice impersonations and is well connected to other radicals, including Julian Assange who has been an occasional call-in guest to his show.

And then there's the station we listen to him here in NYC, WBAI, the heritage Pacifica Radio station of close to 60 years. Wanna talk about an imperative radical voice so important right now? They're under siege from a greedy landlord who own the tower above the Empire State Building from which they broadcast. Wonder if this is part of a full scale attack attempting to knock them out once and for all. Funny, WBAI started off after the election depressingly as sort of part of the McResistance by giving airtime to mostly anti-Trump activities. However, they quickly saw the error of their way and resumed the radical voice they remain, attacking capitalism and corporatism, and giving precious and powerful-reach (60+ miles in all directions) air time to all kinds of activists local, national and international.

This goes straight to the heart of one of the most important aspects of all of this. Our voices, through independent LW media, are always under siege. From the Red Scare destruction of anarchists and socialist publications and meetings by the fascist FBI, to the infiltration and shut-down of soldier-run cafes during the Vietnam War ("Sir! No Sir!"), to the barbaric state beatdown and MSM marginalization of the Occupy movement, to the demonetization and Neo-Red Scare witch hunt today of radical progressives on YouTube. WBAI is a clarion voice in the wilderness of mind-numbing consumerist and RW fascist radio. But WBAI has to be in constant fundraising mode begging for money, while mega RW monolith monopoly mouthpieces Fox News, Sinclair, Clear Channel lavish fortunes on racist bigots who spew divide and conquer bile to the gullible. One of the most valuable things I cherish is a hard drive that WBAI offered for a donation pledge, the contains rare interviews and speeches done in the Pacifica studios of everyone from James Baldwin, Bob Dylan, Malcom X, George Carlin, Howard Zinn, Aldous Huxley, MLK, Tom Haydn, Alan Watts, etc. It's truly amazing.

I hope Credico goes in there and gives them a fucking history lesson on propaganda, upturns their fantasies and embarrasses this pathetic ruse, through comedic wit and lifelong activism.

And speaking of the these Dem partisan experiencing collective Russian Red Herring Mania Meltdown, this is worth checking out, "Open Letter to Morgan Freeman."

Let me just say what we've all come to appreciate: Jimmy Dore is doing some of the best and most important stuff right now, in nightly exposing the fraud of this dying system besieging us. Let's not forget all the other fine folks doing regular shows too, such as fellow comedian Lee Camp, and Tim Black, the Humanist Report, Sane Progressive, (pick your favorites).

@snoopydawg
Only knew him from his show on WBAI, where it was evident he possessed an impressive range of knowledge and activist experience especially when he was speaking with guests or riffing on something. Also impressive was the range of guests he would bring on, such as former top CIA operative Ray McGovern, Assange, Cindy Sheehan and Frank Serpico. But I had no idea.

So Jimmy Dore mentioned in that clip that there was a film made about Credico called "60 Spins Around The Sun." Watched it last night and was blown away.

Like other great comedians who are at peace with their conscience such as George Carlin and Bill Hicks, he committed to speaking about social injustice and political corruption. But Credico, who never reached those heights (probably for making a faux pas on the host when appearing on the Holy Grail of the Johnny Carson show), instead became a staunch activist against the War on Drugs™.

Using all of his celebrity contacts along with an indefatigable work ethic, he picketed court houses, printed up flyers, galvanized the families of the unjustly imprisoned, did interviews, called friends in the media and became a spokesman for a movement to end the harshly punitive drug laws, especially NY's infamous Rockefeller Drug Laws. Part of that even included traveling to a small town in Texas, in which corrupt law enforcement rounded up almost the entire black population (1/10 were arrested and imprisoned under false charges) for drug possession and sales, and becoming a prime mover in turning over the cases. Brought national attention to an isolated fiefdom wallowing in racial injustice. Incredible stuff.

Man, he did some great impersonations of people too. Definitely an unheralded truth seeker of our tribe. He deserves to be better known nationally by the 99%.

Looking forward to him going to Congress and upturning little Adam Schiff's farce. Dore says he'll have him on afterward.

for posting that doc on Randy. So powerful! Makes me feel like I'm standing still. The reason people feel uncomfortable around him is because he speaks so much truth and people see what it takes to have anything happen, which will involve an intense commitment that they might not be inclined to give. We need many more Randy Credico's pushing us to retake America. I'm inspired.

@Raggedy Ann @snoopydawg

Reminds you that so much of life is just about being driven and not defeating oneself when faced with setbacks. Difficult to do; takes a special kind of person.

It was pretty much through his perseverance alone that he was able to get all those folks out of jail who were so unjustly persecuted by a corrupt justice system and law enforcement. What is the Margaret Mead quote again? Then there's the reminder, "if you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.”

Credico at OWS:

On a personal note, I'm fine here - thanks for asking Snoop. Not much time for anything else but constant responsibilities to the two little ones. Do a lot of reading along at C99, but that's about it. And thank god for Jimmy Dore and ilk - they're keeping us sane.

Love this immediate reaction to Maher at one of Dore's live shows:

Evidence again that there are probably so many more who are of our mindset than there are of the Neoliberal Dem partisan zombies trolling social media and the pestilent cesspool at DK.

Problem is we sometimes think we're outnumbered, in context of the MSM barrage. But remember, more than half don't vote, are highly suspicious of both parties and frankly have distrusted mass media for a very long time.

the local rag (Mpls Star Tribune) reported, breathlessly, just about everything to do with 'Russiagate'.

They've become rather quiet over the last few weeks.

I would hazard a guess that there's a lot less to this than there seems.

against De Blasio when De Blasio won his first term. As I recall, Credico had some not very diplomatic things to say about De Blasio, called him a tool of real estate interests, or something like that. There may be some pay back involved here.

Now if De Blasio were to round up and repatriate (or jail) the Russian gangsters who are reported to have funded T-Rump's RE deals...that might be a public service.

The danger sign for me is that even some establishment republicans are buying into the imaginary Russia-interfered-in-the-election-brainwashed-the-voters schtick. When both party establishments team up on something, look out.
Just like the 'terror' schtick, it will be characterized as a 'national security threat' to justify sacrificing the rights of the American people (censorship, surveillance etc.), to 'keep us safe'.
If republicans are dumb enough to buy into the surveillance schtick for 'fightin' terror', then democrats are probably dumb enough to buy into the censorship/surveillance schtick to protect us from those dreadful Russians.
I actually think democrats are dumber, because their Russian propaganda 'theory' is the same as saying that people are too easily brainwashed and can't think for themselves (which might be accurate, especially if everyone goes along with their Russia Russia Russia thing).

@Mike Taylor

It's just that the Russian propaganda crap has so many different objectives. The first one is to clamp down on the alternative websites that are telling us the truth about what is actually happening.
For instance, joe posted a video on how slavery is happening in Libya after Obama and the Clinton creature destroyed it. If net neutrality is revoked, this type of news isn't going to be seen.
Check it out in tonight's EBs. It's absolutely disgusting what this country has done to Libya and of course many others.

The second reason for this is so people will be okay with the war with Russia that has been planned for over two years now. NATO is on board with this and this is why we keep hearing that Russia interfered with the elections in Europe.
