A bad month for the DNC

Let's do an inventory.
Just short of a month ago the DNC did a purge of progressives.

"This doesn't bring the party together, it deepens the divide at a time we need all hands on deck," James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute and prominent Sanders supporter who was ousted from the DNC Executive Committee, wrote on Twitter Thursday.

A week later it turned out the DNC helped fund the Trump dossier.

How big a deal is this? Well, the motives of the investigation, which was—and is—transparently aimed at finding anti-Trump information, are important to factor into to any assessment of the dossier. To that end, ever since news of the dossier broke, it's been taken with sufficient grains of salt by just about everyone. It’s opposition research; it’s unverified.

Then the DNC had to finally deal with it's inability to raise funds.

Emily Mellencamp Smith, the party’s finance director, was let go in a shake-up of the party’s senior leadership designed to energize the party's fundraising.

And then a few days later the Brazile bombshell.

Former interim DNC chair Donna Brazile released an excerpt from her upcoming book in which she wrote that the Democratic primary had overtly favored Hillary Clinton over Sen. Bernie Sanders, writing that her campaign was helping prop up the DNC's finances beginning in mid-2015, which gave the Clinton campaign the ability to influence the DNC.

Finally, Democratic poll numbers hit all-time lows.

Only 37% of Americans have a favorable opinion of Democrats, down from 44% in March of this year. A majority, 54%, have an unfavorable view, matching their highest mark in polls from CNN and SSRS, CNN/ORC and CNN/USA Today/Gallup stretching back to 1992.

You might think that after a disastrous month like that someone would lose their job.
How would a responsible political party react?

Fresh Faces

Schumer, played by Alex Moffat, quipped that Democrats had not "felt this confident since the day before Trump won!"
Kate McKinnon's Pelosi said that during last week's local elections, Americans had embraced Democrats' "fresh new ideas delivered by fresh new faces" like herself, Feinstein, Schumer, and Kaine.
Pelosi is 77, Feinstein is 84, Schumer is 66, and Kaine is 59.
... Pelosi said that the party had learned its lesson from the last election and that it couldn't appeal just to "coastal elites."
"We need mouth-breathers from Wisconsin," McKinnon's Pelosi said.
"And window-lickers from Ohio as well," Strong's Feinstein said.

In just more casual reading election results, it seems thee most dramatic victories were by candidates who got no party support. Shit, Neera "no $15 min wage" Tandem even disparaged Tim Carter in tweet responding to David Sirota.

This is certainly not good for the party as it is covering up the corruption and ineptitude of establishment democrats. Kyle from Secular Talk cautioning democrats as a poll of actual voters from the last mid term indicate a statistical tie between dems and gopers.

heard the term "mouth breathers" uttered. And that was at TOP.
Of course that was pre edict.
I find the term as offensive as "superpredators" or "white trash".
And everything between.
An accurate portrayal by Mc Kinnon. This is how most of us are viewed by the DNC elite.

Establishment Dems are like suicide bombers. They would rather divide/sabotage the party than to risk an insurgency from the left being able to unify the party and gain power.
Republican fiscal policy is more beneficial to centrist Dems than what's coming from the left. Stuff like Medicare for all, Medicare negotiating for lower drug prices, tuition-free college (the transaction tax on Wall Street) would be costly to big party donors, along with the 401Ks of centrist Dems that rely on the profits of Big Pharma, health insurance co,s, and Wall Street etc.
Establishment Dems would rather lose to republicans than to risk an insurgency from the left being able to unify the party and gain power

donors. Those people aren’t paupers. It will cost THEM too. THEIR taxes would go up.

Bottom line: They lose their donors and get a tax hike if they do the right thing. Now these people could still lead comfortable, safe, secure lives if they did do what was right for the people of this country, but that’t not how it’s done anymore. Politics has become a good way to make a lot of money. Ask the Clintons, the Feinstein, the Kerry’s. (Although Kerry’s wife is very rich herself.)

But seriouly,, does anyone here really believe they’d go without a few bucks of that sweet bribe money? Wait! DONOR money, not bribe money. DONOR money. I misspoke. Lost my head got a moment. Silly me. Why, without their donor money they’d have to get by on their meagre salaries, all those little perks, and money made in the stock market because they know things are going to happen before the rest of us do.

@Mike Taylor

They don't care if we know this either. They showed us that during the latest election when they refused to help any candidate that were running on the same issues that Bernie did. Carter is one example when he called himself a socialist democrat.
There were a few others that they didn't help out financially, but they didn't just start doing this in this election. They have let republicans run unopposed instead of running a candidate that didn't have their values.

The polls showed that Bernie had a better chance of beating Trump than Herheinous did, but they did not want him to win. Period. This is so obvious.

Good comment, Mike

@snoopydawg
Like I said I somewhere, I hadn’t been to bed all night and judging from some of my typos it is quite obvious there was a short circuit somewhere. I was almost afraid to go back and read the responses to my post because I was worried about how many mistakes I made. (It wasn’t as bad as I thought.) All I have is this stupid iPhone and I get so frustrated sometimes I just feel like throwing it across the room. Like right now.

I think we’re lucky. There are so many great posters here, you being one of them, that it really helps me to understand what’s going on in this crazy world. Because as time goes by and the world gets crazier, I need all the help I can get trying to understand what is going on, what to expect, and eho’s going to put the screws to us next.

(But I still haven’t quite figured out what’s up with Donna Brazille. But i’m working on it.)

Freaking iPhone turned that sentence into “But I’m twerking on it”.

**sigh** I cannot imagine anything funnier or more ridiculous than the words ‘I’ and ‘twerking’ in the same sentence. What a sight that would be.

@Cassiodorus

I dunno, do you really think that Biden'd do anything much different, or just less bombastically? I suspect that he'd have 'got more done' more quietly for the Psychopaths That Be seeking Global Dominance by now - as would have occurred with the Clintons, covered over in the media - and it wouldn't be good.

More industry-convicting information vanished from the internet under Obama than with Bush 2 - a lot more of the most telling stuff - and Google became fused with Obama's government during his administration, among other things. Would we have heard as much about this as we did if we'd been under his Vice President Biden, as President himself?

The Plan seems to unroll further with each administration no matter which corporate/billionaire candidate gets in...

There is no justice. There can be no peace.

The DNC is doing everything possible to create the conditions for the formation of a new party. The symptom is clear, they have given up on being inclusive, and instead are circling the wagons and shooting the unfaithful.

There are lots of possibilities, from the Greens to the DSA, but I'm afraid that a small outsider party will not have much chance of succeeding. The DSA's membership has tripled lately and that's a very good sign. I think that middle America would have a hard time with that, just because of the label.

In some other countries the formation of a new dominant party is normal. But it is usually formed around a well-known leader. That happened in Italy- Berlusconi and in Russia- President Putin. The movement to a new party has a much better chance of reaching early critical mass with a popular figure at it's head.

I think that Bernie could do it. And he would draw some of the best progressive minds in the country to his support.

If you agree with me, I suspect that most here do, contact Bernie and let him know that you want him to form a new party.

Capitalism has always been the rule of the people by the oligarchs. You only have two choices, eliminate them or restrict their power.

@The Wizard @The Wizard

Dunno, but I suspect he may be waiting until it's closer to the general - or until he gets blacked out of the corporate media again.

Nobody else in politics at this level is often on the corporate media saying to those restricted to it that the very basic living wage, public higher education, universal health-care, etc., notions of a government working in, rather then against, the public interest, is entirely possible, despite the flood of corporate-political propaganda of those ever-more-rapidly draining the richest country in the world for their own destructive purposes of global dominance.

Nobody else dares to speak out about corporate interests and billionaires (which Dems are now forbidden by at least one billionaire to even mention, on pain of having their allowances cut) on the corporate media. And censorship is being heavily exerted on the internet as well, of course.

Ideas are dangerous to TPTB, and TPTB are dangerous to those with the courage to publicize such ideas.

I think Bernie will do whatever he can to keep in a position to continue this reminder to Americans of what government should and could be, as close to the next general as he can manage when, I have no doubt, the media black-out and smearing of him and his ideas will appear.

One problem is that the internet may not be viable at all by that point, and a lot of volunteer shoe leather will be needed. But somebody has to be on corporate media to Keep America Awake - they snooze, we all lose.

Edit to add two words I missed the first time, lol. Sigh...
