Happy All Hallows Eve folks! Spooky times indeed. Nothing but pumpkin heads on MSM. More tricks than treats. On the other hand, you can find mind candy here for a song. The C99% house is a safe place to be. So enter if you dare, take off your masks and share scary stories if the spirits move you.

Good morning, QMS ~~

My government is scaring the hell out of me and has been long before All Hallow's Eve arrived - or have we had nine months of Halloween? Actually, it's been Halloween in DC for decades but the masks are finally beginning to come off. Wish I could help speed up that process!

We don't get trick or treaters - I live rurally and there are no kids in my area. We have a large entertainment pumpkin patch in the town where the kids spook the residents.

I do believe in ghosts. I've seen them. Boo!

After 21 years, Elvira says this will be her final live show at Knott’s Berry Farm

The Mistress of the Dark has announced this year’s Knott’s Berry Farm live performance will be her last.

“I just decided that, you know, doing live shows is really difficult and it takes up a big chunk of time every year,” Cassandra Peterson, 66, who grew up in Colorado Springs, told The Gazette. Her plans for the future include completing an autobiography and working on an animated series.

No tricksters at my house

Halloween is a huge holiday in this town and everyone decorates to the hilt. Some houses and yards have been elaborately decorated for three weeks.

Sadly, because we live on a very busy street with no sidewalks, we have never had a single trick or treater. We quit buying candy a couple of years ago. But my walking partner lives just two streets away in a great area for trick or treaters to walk safely. People from all over town bring their kids to her neighborhood. She is expecting around 300 tricksters (or more) tonight. Yesterday, a woman in a van with some kids was stopping by houses in her neighborhood to drop off bags of candy to help the residents out when the children arrive tonight. I thought that was incredibly thoughtful, but then in this town something like that is not at all surprising.

Edit to add: I believe in ghosts. And all the spooks are in the CIA.

@gulfgal98 Being rural, we haven't had the little goblins show up for years. Remember as a kid all dressed up with my siblings, knocking on the door, crooning trick or treat to the elder occupants into their cups. One said to us: tricks! We looked at each other not knowing what to do? With some coaxing they got us to sing a couple bars of row your boat, or some such. Chuckles

On November 6 and 7, 1917 (or October 24 and 25 on the Julian calendar, which is why the event is often referred to as the October Revolution), leftist revolutionaries led by Bolshevik Party leader Vladimir Lenin launched a nearly bloodless coup d’état against the Duma’s provisional government.

Civil War broke out in Russia in late 1917 after the Bolshevik Revolution. The warring factions included the Red and White Armies.

The Red Army fought for the Lenin’s Bolshevik government. The White Army represented a large group of loosely allied forces, including monarchists, capitalists and supporters of democratic socialism.

The White Army was created and supported by the US, UK, Austria, Germany, Turkey.... They wanted the nip socialism in the bud. It's been the capitalist approach ever since.

I was watching a clip of the Keiser report where Max had an interview with Russell Brand. The conversation was about the grand scale thievery that took place in '08 and Brand said something along the lines that the thieves don't know how to be human. So yes, as you all have said, the very scariest among us are those non-human humans primarily of the 1%.

Spooks? We Got EM!! We spew them forth to cover the globe, like unto spores from a giant puffball hit with a 5 iron and their toxins infect and leach into the very soul of the citizenry of earth. They are well and wisely feared, and here at home as well, but, more often than not, portrayed as good guys on the omnipresent propaganda box in US living rooms.

And convictions? My twisted little mind said "depends on what they're for and who you are and what you wish to do in life." Many have found that convictions, in both senses of the word, make it difficult to get employment. And, of course, convictions as in priors get one added attention from the "enforcers of the law" at every turn.

Priors have long made employment an interesting proposition for many but so have ordinary convictions, as in beliefs. I recall great consternation as a youth contemplating what career might exist out there that was not part of and would not further the war industry. What, in fact, could never further the war industry, the way that vacuum tubes, transistors and the like wound up doing. Beyond that, how to also eschew the promotion of bourgeoise culture and values, consumerism and the like, and, of course, injustice, discrimination, intolerance and all forms of irrationality. Also no direct wrong-doing, be it outright theft or marketing. This is still a serious dilemma, there just aren't that many such jobs, surely not enough to go around, not in the mainstream economy.

Ah well, so the kids they dance and shake their bones ...

The grandkids had a ball decorating the Italian squash.

At least we found a use for some of them.

Two of the grandkids were born on Halloween. It's a special time of year for the whole family.
