(Gadzooks! In the Washington Post no less): Hillary Clinton’s and the DNC’s puzzling half-measures on Harvey Weinstein

Now this is almost laughable. The Clinton Creature and the DNC will take money from ANYONE, this is a given. But of all the people/organisations that have donated to them THIS is what’s going to trip the WP’s trigger? The WP calling out the Clinton Creature’s greed or the DNC’s pathetic financial condition openly is another surprise considering that usually its first reaction is to pretty much lie and obstruct when it comes to Clinton/DNC shenanigans.

We all know the Clinton Creature is no friend to women or (12-year old) girls. But one would think that, just for APPEARANCES sake, she and the DNC would act as snowflake pure just as they demand of the Great Unwashed and give the money back ALL of it. And not to special interest groups that support the Clinton Creature and Dimocritic Party, but back to the predatory skunk that gave it to them in the first place. But then again, when one of the founders of the Turd Way Neo-liberal Koch-Brothers-finance ‘New’ Democratic Party is a liar and predator himself, I guess not even the APPEARANCE of ethical behaviour will help much. Plus now the DNC is finding out what happens when they tell a big chunk of their supporters to ‘go away, we don’r need you’

Hillary Clinton’s and the DNC’s puzzling half-measures on Harvey Weinstein

*

It's all extraordinarily hard to read (and listen to), and it's got plenty of big-name Democrats donating to charity the money spread around by Weinstein, a the top Democratic donor and fundraiser.

There are a couple big exceptions, though: Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee. And both are handling the situation in rather puzzling ways.

*

The DNC's response is a real head-scratcher. Two of the three groups it chose to donate to — Emily's List and Emerge America — expressly support Democratic candidates. The third, Higher Heights, is technically nonpartisan, but since it supports African American women running for office, you can bet that the vast majority of that money will help Democrats.

It's understandable why the DNC wouldn't be donating the full $300,000; after all, right now that would constitute more than one-tenth of its net funds (i.e., cash on hand minus debt), which stood at just $2.8 million at the end of August. The DNC has had money problems for years, and it's basically bleeding cash right now.

*
Clinton's decision not to donate is probably more justifiable, given that the campaign is over. But she also only took $5,000 from Weinstein in her last campaign, she's still got $1 million in the bank, and that amount of money is a pittance to the uber-wealthy Clintons. Why not just do what other Democrats are doing and unload it? Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) said Monday on CNN: “I think any of us who received donations should [donate them to charity] and use it to support the cause of combating sexual harassment.”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/10/10/hillary-clinto...

I have an idea why she dudn’t consider giving the money back. Maybe because she’s married to, and covered for, a guy just like Weinstein (and Trump and Epstein) she doesn’t think this behaviour is really that out-of-line. When you’re a BFF with Henry Kissinger, predatory sexual behaviour must seem pretty tame.

But back to the really funny part. This is the WASHINGTON POST, the media outlet that whored and lied for the Clinton Creature and the DNC in order to put her in the Oval Office. Dead children on beaches, a corrupt family slush fund, 30+ years of lies and pandering to the 1%. and THIS is what the WP gets all social justice warriorie over? A common everyday ploy used by TPTB in every walk of life? Well, good for them. I will (begrudgingly) give the WP for finding an ounce of ethics. Too bad they didn’t know to do that when the Dimocritics were deciding who should run for the Oval Office in 2016. Or, at the very least, didn’t decide that to lie and cheat yo help grease her way into the Presidency was pretty damn sleazy in itself.

EDIT: Ival/Oval and deleted an extra ‘and the’

Malia Obama, 19, landed an internship at the Weinstein Company right after her dad left office earlier this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Working in the New York City office, she was doing more than fetching coffee—TMZ reported that Malia Obama was "ensconced in the production/development department," tasked with "reading through scripts and deciding which ones move on to Weinstein brass."

That muffled sound coupled with an occasional **snort** was just me and my credulity-factor’s amusement at what an amazing ‘internship’ she was awarded. Just like any other arts student...

SIDE ISSUE: is the formatting function boinked again?? All my stuff is coming out in ‘bold’ typeface. It’s indistinguishable from the regular type. (It started yesterday. At least I noticed it first yesterday.)

Could it be because I updated to IOS 11.0.3 (whatever) on my iPhone yesterday?

She's already 30+ years defending against right wing attacks and you want to continue attacking her for not returning money donated to her by a sexual predator because she's married to one?
Good job! Keep it up.
Rumors are that she too flew on Epstein's jet to his island and she also went to his parties at his apartment.
And given that she and Bill are good friends with Trump, does anyone believe that she wasn't aware that he was a sex hound dawg?
People were aware of the people who went to the Epstein sex parties, that Cosby was a sexual predator, as is Woody Allen and others.
Harvey has sexually abused many of the well known women actors who had to stay quiet about his abuse or they would never work in Hollywood again.

@snoopydawg
There have been NO reports of predatory sexual behavior by Woody Allen in twenty years. He got married, he settled down, he has a couple of adopted daughters, and he has by all accounts been behaving himself.

Clan Farrow has never forgiven him - and never will - for getting involved with Soon-Yi Previn (now his wife) while still nominally "involved" with her adoptive mother, Mia Farrow. That was both cowardly and caddish, but it was a long time ago (and yes, she was legally an adult, and no, she was not his daughter by adoption or any other way). Mia took cruel and underhanded vengeance on both of them, driving away and publicly libeling the daughter she had once wanted so much that she had gotten the US Congress to change the laws about how many children of foreign origin US citizens could adopt, and conducting an ongoing campaign of character assassination against her "ex" (they were never married, but had had a semi-stable relationship for over a decade). It was every bit as nasty and ugly as the most vicious infighting between a divorcing married couple with children - because there was an actual custody battle being fought. Mia Farrow won the battle (by fighting totally dirty), but destroyed her career in the process.

Serious investigation into the matter - going much deeper than the salacious pop-zine articles - gives a completely different perspective on what (may or may not have) happened.

In almost every case, I don't care about a person's personal life unless they have done illegal shit. But isn't the relationship of Bill and Hillary in some ways perverse. When she was Secretary of State Bill was essentially her pimp. For a fee, Hillary would deliver up services for talking fees and contributions. I am surprised that there are no Wikileaks revelations where some super rich contributor didn't also demand head from Hillary at those prices.

what they accomplished in Haiti was that rich people got to make a $hitload of money off the misery of the Haitians and their playground was rebuilt better than ever.

Instead of hiring the Haitians who were unemployed because their work places were destroyed, the corporations that got the contracts hired people from other countries.

Bill took farmland from hundreds of farmers to build a low paying jobs factory that was supposed to hire thousands of people, but it only hired between 300-600. What happened to the farmers and their families after they lost their farms? I'm sure that Bill, Herheinous and their many friends never asked.

This is what Trump and everyone who has stayed quiet about what's happening in Puerto Rico are doing. Let the people die of starvation and diseases and they can build a new playground for the rich. Trump will be able to build his golf course that he stiffed Puerto Rico for $3 million. Interesting that he got away with this and stuck them with the debt.

He needs to be held accountable for every person that dies because of his blatant neglect.

And that they stole billions of funds that was donated by people from all over the world. Their foundation was again in the middle of this and not one person from our government or from any of the agencies that received money to help rebuild Haiti.

up something I’ve been wondering about, how did this hearing turn out and is this guy still ‘officially’ suicided, but I can’t find anything.

Haiti Official, Who Exposed The Clinton Foundation, Found Dead In Miami

Klaus Eberwein, a former Haitian government official who was expected to expose the extent of Clinton Foundation corruption and malpractice next week, has been found dead in Miami. He was 50.

Eberwein was due to appear next Tuesday before the Haitian Senate Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission where he was widely expected to testify that the Clinton Foundation misappropriated Haiti earthquake donations from international donors.

According to Miami-Dade’s medical examiner records supervisor, the official cause of death is “gunshot to the head“. Eberwein’s death has been registered as “suicide.”

All I can say regarding the tweet about handing Puerto Rico over to the Disaster Capitalists Clinton Fundation is, as they used to say 'That's rich!'

What was that quote about seeing PTB-targeted countries 'as an opportunity' to be milked dry?

Oh, right!

http://www.ibtimes.com/campaign-2016-hillary-clinton-pitched-iraq-busine...

Campaign 2016: Hillary Clinton Pitched Iraq As 'A Business Opportunity' For US Corporations
By David Sirota @davidsirota AND Andrew Perez @AndrewPerezDC On 09/30/15 AT 8:37 PM

When then-U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton voted to authorize the war against Iraq in 2002, she justified her support of the invasion as a way to protect America’s national security. But less than a decade later, as secretary of state, Clinton promoted the war-torn country as a place where American corporations could make big money.

“It's time for the United States to start thinking of Iraq as a business opportunity," she said in a 2011 speech.

The quote was included in an email released by the State Department on Wednesday that specifically mentioned JPMorgan and Exxon Mobil. JPMorgan was selected by the U.S. government to run a key import-export bank in Iraq and in 2013 announced plans to expand its operations in the country. Exxon Mobil signed a deal to redevelop Iraqi oil fields. JPMorgan has collectively paid the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation at least $450,000 for speeches, and Exxon Mobil has donated over $1 million to the family’s foundation. ...

...In the aftermath of the Iraq War, the Bush administration pushed to privatize wide swaths of the Iraqi economy. Many prominent political voices charged that the conflict was not about national security or a humanitarian mission against a dictator but was instead an attempt to use military force to open up Iraq’s closed economy to foreign corporations -- including oil giants like Exxon Mobil. ...

...In the email that referred to Clinton’s portrayal of Iraq as a business opportunity, the Clinton-run State Department called Iraq a “market where your companies can make money,” and said that in meetings with corporate executives, “U.S. government officials returned to the theme that the U.S. government stands ready to help U.S. firms operating in Iraq.”

The dispatch also noted that Clinton’s deputy, Tom Nides, hosted an event “on investing in Iraq with senior executives from 30 U.S. companies and senior representatives from the U.S. and Iraqi governments.”

Keeping the Clintons and their ilk out of Puerto Rico and other devastated (or on an infamous list as targeted to be devastated) countries is a humanitarian effort in itself.

being critical of Hillary. I said at the time: are they cutting her loose? Is the establishment--or at least part of it--going to turn Hillary heel?

A few months later, that seems certain. Though the Clintons have enough resources that there is now actually a fight up there over whether she's a wonderful person or not.

To think that we once had debates over whether a particular war was worth fighting or not.
