Las Vegas Massacre
Stunning. Shocking. Sadness.
Over fifty people killed, their lives ended. Many more likely to follow from the over 400 that were injured.
It's too early to tell much about this but I initially found myself relieved in a sense, is that the word, that it wasn't some muslim terrorist claiming to be with ISIS. Is that wrong? It certainly doesn't make me glad it happened this way. I worry about the police state expanding, the war OF terror expanding, our lives becoming more and more restricted, our liberty destroyed in the name of "safety".
Then again, what does this say? This may not have been an Islamic terrorist, but it was clearly a terrorist act. What does this portend? A 64 year old white man opened fire from a hotel overlooking a concert? What the hell. What do you do about that? Does this change anything? Doesn't it have to change something? It doesn't really matter why he did it, what his ideology might be, it grossly illustrates the fact that you could die when attending a concert. Anytime, anywhere. We already knew that in a way, this makes it more clear. Very clear.
Is this life in the 21st century? There are so many questions, not just about Stephen Paddock. The death toll isn't even set yet, but it's hard not to wonder what comes next.
Comments
this is the meanest and dumbest comment I will make
just to demonstrate how futile, dangerous all our conversations are. It should be said beforehand that I do this only show you how easy it is to cause harm to individuals.
Big Al told me jokingly in a comment a couple of days ago that he was right now in Las Vegas to win the lottery and use the money for the revolution. And I joked back, he should try out the German Klassenlotterie, and if he wins should use that money for the revolution.
Now, don't you wait just for an idiot like me to "connect the dots" and say "Big AL must have lost a lot of money in Las Vegas"? And relate that comment to the one above?
That's how fucked up this media and technology is to cause a lot of chaos.
With apologies to Big AL, of course I don't mean it, I just used haphazardly a comment that someone else could use to cause harm to Big Al. And apologies to all of you, this damned thought just popped up in my mind, beause I remembered Big Al's comment.
Big Al, never go to Las Vegas again. I want you alive and well.
For You, Big AL:

Understand mimi and thanks.
P.S. not a gambler, that was a joke. I'll have to find money for a revolution some other way.
sorry, Big Al, I knew it was stupid to say something like it
I never know what it the right thing to do, to take the responsibility for one's stupid comments or to redact them.

Ah you're fine mimi.
I just read that
In my opinion, the NRA and their enablers in Congress are murderers. They take all the lobbying money and then when someone commits murder with their weapons, they send their "prayers." I am so done with their fake praying when real action could be saving lives.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

Didn't you hear Sarah Huckabee Sanders at today's white house presser?! She says "This is not the time to talk about gun control". Not kidding. She actually said that.

Of course she said that. This is the time that they always
say that. You could set your watch by it.

I agree
that it makes no sense.
People that shoot their ex-spouse and their whole family? At least comprehensible.
People that shoot their boss and coworkers? At least comprehensible.
Motives, if poor ones.
Someone that decides to shoot 400 people that he didn't know and never did anything to him? It simply makes no sense.

I had this talk today with a gun owning Republican co-worker, we talk through a lot of things and agree on most. Her husband is a private gun dealer. He is outraged that background checks are not more thorough. And she and I both agree that stronger regulation and not selling military grade weapons to civilians should be implemented. And while the NRA fights like hell over that, I think a lot of gun owners would agree with that.
I think there are simply too many guns to ever get them all either. Whenever I hear someone on either side say they should all go or that someone is going to "take" them, I just want to ask how in hell do you do that? There is no logistical way to do that, even under our current police state. It will never happen. So meanwhile, even IF we ever tighten up the laws, it won't stop the nutters. Hell, they can just use a car now anyway.

9/11 changed everything
That worked pretty well for TPTB. The difference is now, when they’re not brown skinned furriners, they’re “lone wolfs” who were disturbed and that’s all the farther it goes. You can’t ask why or suggest less guns would help because you’ll be accused of “politicizing” the event.
And so it goes. Another day, another senseless killing. At what point does the public say enough?

Yeah, the audio of the shootings sounded almost like Iraq Invasion footage, except the concert and people screaming parts instead of the return fire and cannons from the war.
The brother seemed perplexed as well when they interviewed him. We may never get the real reason a retired cruise taking, online poker playing man got his hands on full blown weapons for warfare and turned them onto a concert crowd, Just what will fit a narrative for the Oligarchs
What has been seen is he smuggle 10 weapons into a major hotel, paid for a high end room, and opened fire as if her were in a war-zone, that shows premeditation, why did he want to kill a large mass of people?
