Root Causes and Why They'll Never Be Addressed (And why social media isn't helping)
So there's an uptick in pedophilia arrests since God Emperor Dipshit and his gaggle of corporate goons took office. None of those dickheads deserve any credit whatsoever. Why? Because none of this shit will actually mean anything as long as the root causes of child trafficking (and human trafficking) are ignored.
The main one should be obvious: Poverty. Income distribution worldwide has never been as bad as it is right now. In fact, the current economic paradigm makes the Roarin' 20s look like The New Deal by comparison. A few families own more than most of the human population for fuck's sake. And according to Shark Tank's Mr. Wonderful, that's fuckin' fantastic.
It also doesn't help that we're bombing entire regions of the planet into the stone age in the name of corporate profits a strong national defense. That sort of thing is bound to encourage human, and especially child trafficking considering we've killed hundreds of thousands and displaced millions more. But hey, at least a bunch of kids from /pol/ can virtue signal brag about how they exposed a trafficking ring in DC and that their God Emperor Dipshit Trump and his gaggle of corporate goons took token action at best to stop said ring, right?
After all, it wasn't too long ago that the Republican faction of the Corporate Party were embroiled in scandals involving pedophilia themselves (Congresman Mark Foley being the most publicized), so maybe it isn't so hard to fathom the Democratic faction of the Corporate party doing the same from a pizza joint.
Until the root causes of this shit are addressed, nothing anyone does or says regarding human and child trafficking means anything. And honestly, considering where we are now, I'd say we're all fucked. No doubt the hyper-partisanship between the right-wing and their centrist enablers will prevent any real conversation from being had, but that's just how 'Murica operates.
As for me, I'm taking myself out of social media conversations regarding politics, or anything else for a while (save for posting here), if not for good. As has been seen over the last few years, it's impossible to have a conversation about anything because the trolls dictate the conversation, at least online.
Last year I deleted my Facebook account after the Democratic Primary. This year? I deleted my google account. I might lose access to a few small purchases on Google Play, but that's fine if it means I can say goodbye to the cancer that is youtube.
I'm also thankful I never got into Twitter. That pile of garbage did more to ruin conversation than even Facebook. Just look at President Fall Guy's tweets and you'll see what I mean.
I've tried letting go in the past, but given how toxic the environment has become, I don't think I'll have any trouble because I'm too old and too tired for this shit.

Honestly, I think the only way the so-called alt-right are going to learn anything is if their policies come back to bite them in the ass. Hard. Be it through natural disaster, economic disaster or both. Not because I wish them ill will, but because in my experience and based on history, people won't do the right thing until disaster they can no longer control forces them to.

I took a week off for mental health reasons, as all this monstrous nonsense overwhelmed my defenses. But my political addiction soon overcame my lingering morose mood, so I have jumped back in the swamp. Happy to swim with you, Aspie.
