jb and I still don't know how our many friends and relatives, from San Antonio to Austin to the coast all along will fare. Will they survive? The VERY elderly parent and elderly uncle. The baby boomer cousins and friends their adult kids.
Recovery talk will be important.
But even more important will be honest talk about the long term imo.

Let's do this
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
I've been looking for somewhere to leave this
and this seems as good a place as any.

big brother too
I'm sorry for your worries of whether you family and friends
are okay. Hopefully you will hear from them soon.
The pictures I've seen of the damage and how deep the water is are incredible. And sad. This is going to have far reaching consequences for our country. The main concern is for the people who are experiencing this. I can't imagine 60 inches of rain. Can you imagine if this was snow? Wowzer!
I've read that the storm is going to move back out and then in again. I'm hoping that the forecast has changed.
Keep us informed and if you hear from them.
Our family has a list of out of state contracts for when members are in states that are having natural disasters and they call and let us know if they are safe or at least try to check in.
I have family in California and I lived there when the Lima Prieta quake hit SAN Francisco. I got nauseous before I heard the film in my darkroom and I looked to see what was happening and the filmstrips were bouncing. Then I felt the movement. I was 90 miles from the city and we got a big jolt.

GOES-16 was called GOES-R during testing phase, why it's called the Pirate Satellite. It goes arrr!
and the weather pictures are stunning compared to what we had before. California uses it to warn about Atmospheric Rivers, our new normal. I think it is why Jerry Brown said "we'll launch our own damn satellites" when feds threatened funding, maybe.
Please make disaster planning primary to the conversation, the climate has already changed our weather patterns significantly. No one is very well prepared, as far as I can tell. The infrastructure is not built for rapid response. Thanks.
i have Ziggy fingers
that's what I meant

the Gulf. They've been thinking of succession anyway.

Let Tejas go? Nope!
Bernie is thinking of healthcare for years and years, so STFU? Nope! He is campaigning for MfA in Trump territory right now, trying to change the conversation. I'm for letting people think as much as possible, not letting them slip away.
peace
My Houston cousin and her family are
OK .... But they have many friends with water in their homes.
