Yes, Russia is Connected to Charlottesville
Russia is sowing division here and in Europe to weaken the West. Make no mistake, Russia’s fingerprints are all over Charlottesville.
Consider, for example, the chant that was caught on local television footage as it was shouted by several dozen torch-carrying protesters who rallied against removal of a Confederate monument in a Charlottesville, Va., park last Saturday. "Russia is our friend!" they shouted. "Russia is our friend!" What, many observers must have wondered, did Russia have to do with the Confederacy? www.chicagotribune.com/...

thanks yeah, that meme still makes me LOL. Didn't this place start out with dogs? I kinda remember when I joined c99, there were a lot of dog avatars. It is why I have a squirrel, no dogs at home.

I know what this kind of luck is like as well.
I never would have thought I'd be a millionaire just by owning a house in the hood. Or stumbling into an amazing job. I don't take a lick worth of credit except for avoiding crime, the all too common route for folks where I come from.
Being a one percenter...all of it is sheer unadulterated luck. Some people think its because of something they did but its purely about being at the right place at thr right time.

They both effing admit it was luck made them wealthy, hard work yeah, sometimes. But without luck and "knowing somebody" dreams die fast. You have to be a boot licker to get ahead, it is what separates the classes. It is why society gets really messed up with too much wealth in control of everything. They're not very smart, they're vicious. Not the kind of personality you want in charge of things.

I am seriously curious as to the CT they're using to connect the two. Dear gawd! Who wrote it? Armando? BBB?
Maybe someone will go grab the money shot and post it here. I just can't bring myself to go there, more so than even Facebook, and I despise Facebook.

There's a small contingent of clowns on the extreme left who sympathize, to one degree or another, with Putin. But they are neither prone to violence or particularly compliant. I doubt Putin has much use for them aside from having his trolls saturate them with anti-Dem propaganda in hopes they will promote it (e.g. C99's promotion of the bullshit Seth Rich CT).

Admittedly, we still do not know just who killed Seth Rich or why; the crime is still under investigation.

The Kos Kids are going so far out on a limb here, I'm beginning to fear for their mental stability. Some sort of mass psychosis seems to have gripped the community, a paranoid hysteria concerning all things Russian. It's as if Vlad the Impaler were at the very door of Western Civilization, threatening to tear it down and slaughter us all in our beds. Rob us of our Heritage, and undermine the Democratic Values we all hold so dear. The cad! The villain! The filthy fake-newser!
This kind of partisan gibberish and fear mongering wouldn't be so bad -- it might even be comical -- were it not being simultaneously promulgated by neocon warhawks and neoliberal interventionists, who happen to be arming themselves to the teeth with nuclear warheads pointed directly at Moscow. They are positively itching for a fight.

elsewhere, Netroots Nation pretty much lost that designation back in Phoenix, at NN15. If not Detroit the year before. The one thing that got me, during my very first trip to Netroots Nation at NN12 in Providence, RI, was the total lack of interest by Markos in our effort to set up the initial broadcast of "Daily Kos Radio" with KagroX and Armando manning the mics. Granted, we were just working stiffs, "The Help,"as far as Daily Kos was concerned, but it would have been nice had Markos walked the 12, 13 feet to our dinky "radio booth" and said hello. That's all. A simple hello. But, nope. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Look rubes. The Democratic party doesn't actually stand for anything but winning. So just run on whatever you think will sell to whoever's voting for you.
So the Democratic party has no national strategy or national goals. That's fine. I get it. I'll NEVER get any sort of populist action out of them. I heard her loud and clear. That simply makes me think we need a new party... an effective one with an actual agenda that I want to get behind.

sure have lost a lot of elections since 2006-2008, when America wanted to make its voice heard against Bushco, Middle Eastern wars, the Patriot Act, etc. Maybe if they tried standing for a few of the things Americans so obviously need and want, they'd do better than if they continue to stand for nothing much. (Values, I learned elsewhere long before Democrats pretended to invent them. What hubris to think they are going to do better on values than families, religions, philosophers, etc! And, even if they could, that's not what they're getting paid for.)

He was in the House from 1991 to 2007, or sixteen years, when he became a Senator. So, he's been a Senator for ten years. Total, both houses, twenty-six years.
Practically upon arriving in the House (teensy exaggeration), he formed the House Progressive Caucus, which he chaired for the first eight years of its existence. I don't know what else he accomplished during those sixteen years. In the Senate, with McCain, he did write and get passed a veteran's bill. In the Senate and/or the House, he also wrote and got passed three significant amendments, one of which added a huge chunk of money to Obamacare. His amendment record is often spoken of in hyberbolic terms but, if you drill down, it's only about three significant amendments. I don't know how many of the amendments he wrote during his years in the House how many during his years in the Senate, though the amendment to Obamacare was obviously during Bernie's Senate years.
Anyone who comes up with more legislation with bill/amendment names, numbers or descriptions, please let me know. I looked very hard during the primary and about two other times. And let me underscore: I don't need articles referring to amendments or amendment kings without giving specifics. Been there, do that, got the eyestrain.)
To me, that is not an overwhelming record for ten years in the Senate and/or twenty-six years in one house or the other of Congress. However, everything is relative. For the US Senate in general, Bernie's record leaves surprisingly leaves many in the dust. Hillary Clinton, for example, wrote and got passed zero substantive bills or amendments in eight years in the Senate (after eight years as FLOTUS and eleven years as FLOTSA-twenty-seven freakin' years, plus her years as wife of Arkansas's AG). Same for Elizabeth Warren, Rand Paul and many others. (And elected officials have the temerity to talk about other people who live off the public teat? Please, someone, pass them a mirror!)
I wish someone had made that point to the Dembot, especially about Hillary. Then again, actual, specific facts only get in the way of bloviating.

The Library of Congress maintains complete records on all members of Congress: their entire voting record, all bills sponsored and co-sponsored, committee assignments, remarks in the Congressional Record, etc.
Here's everything Bernie Sanders has done since arriving in D.C. in 1991. The information can be sorted in a number of ways.

"specific info would be welcome" How about Sponsored/Passed?
@HenryAWallace I know what you mean about that "amendment king" buzz it was kinda content-free. A quick search turned up this site for info: Legislation Sponsored or Cosponsored by Bernard Sanders
I selected "Became Law" and checked the box for "Passed", sorted by Date of Intro. 210 co-sponsored or sponsored bills became law. Only 7 of the last 100 are Post Office related, I didn't look at the other pages.
My conclusion is, pretty pretty good for a life's work. ...
But then HenryAWallace made me go back and look again. 3 bills in total is what I saw, not very impressive.
How 'bout you give a list of bills passed by Bernie from your link? Because I am too lazy to recreate the wheel again. I could be wrong, am willing to see a better view on legislation that has actually passed and is doing well for the masses right now. Thanks
good luck

I give you props, though. A lot of people would have remained in denial. Don't say I made you go back and look, though. I may have questioned you, but you went back because you are intellectually curious and open to truth.
I think you must have seen one bill and two amendments because I don't think Bernie wrote more than one entire bill that became law--the one he did with McCain on veteran's health. However, I found three substantive amendments that became law, so maybe you missed one or I imagined one. The amendment to Obamacare was yooogee, too.
I will stress: Sadly, this record is by far not the worst in the Senate or the House. Apparently, that incredibly costly outfit we call the federal government accomplishes very little. I guess we support that behemoth so that they can work continually on feathering their nests and showboating for the C-Span cameras to impress the folks back home. And shame on me for not getting that so fully before 2015. I kinda knew, but it hadn't hit me so har.
On another board, during the primary, I intended to do posts on how little Hillary accomplished in the Senate (which I knew from a KOS post) and then show how much Bernie had done. I made the post about Hillary, but never did the one about Bernie. I kept hoping I'd turn up more.

That's a good resource. I can't remember if it's one I've already checked or not. I looked at quite a few in the past, especially during the primary.
If you've looked and found more than one substantive bill and three substantive amendments that he wrote or co-wrote (not merely co-sponsored) between 1991 and now that became law, please let me know and I'll amend my post on this thread and on another thread where I made a similar comment. Anyone can err, of course. However, barring specific info to the contrary, I'm confident in my prior efforts.
It's a good link to bookmark to research others, though. Thanks, again.

thanks I couldn't let this go, want more details for my own gratification. I think Bernie is a good guy, I am cynical. Not sure what Centaurea plans but I already saved locally the page that returns those 207 bills, Sponsored & Co-Sponsored, Passed. I am trying to reduce it to a more readable format, and then start comparing to others, and maybe tie in opensecrets to see the real sponsors.
Just for fun, there is nothing more I can do without money since Citizen's United. Thanks Clinton. It is busy work and I wish I were smarter, grabbed a better education when I could've. Shoulda woulda coulda. At least I learned how to read well, that is the R in RTFM so ... It's the comprehension that's challenging, trying to keep the hippocampus from further shrinkage. Good exercise.

Not blue, not red, not green, not purple, not pink. wtf color am i? Not orange! Black and white are not even colors, so not those. Not yellow/red, that combo is (TM) Resistance can't afford it. I am sure of that as well.
I'm not sure the followers even care anymore.
Not the ones who post, anyway. Whatever the Democratic politicians do or fail do, the posters just keep rationalizing and clapping louder.

This is on the rec'd list. No, I didn't bother to read it.
Please read it, so we don't have to lol
I am seriously curious as to the CT they're using to connect the two. Dear gawd! Who wrote it? Armando? BBB?
Maybe someone will go grab the money shot and post it here. I just can't bring myself to go there, more so than even Facebook, and I despise Facebook.
I put a larger outtake above.

They both effing admit it was luck made them wealthy, hard work yeah, sometimes. But without luck and "knowing somebody" dreams die fast. You have to be a boot licker to get ahead, it is what separates the classes. It is why society gets really messed up with too much wealth in control of everything. For any of us with iron guts or in need of ipecac substitutes, the Daily Kos article "Yes, Russia is Connected to Charlottesville" can be found here.
I made it about one-third of the way through the article before deciding I could take no more!

Here's my contribution to the conversation...

As I've said here
elsewhere, Netroots Nation pretty much lost that designation back in Phoenix, at NN15.

So the Democratic party has no national strategy or national goals. That's fine. I get it. I'll NEVER get any sort of populist action out of them. I heard her loud and clear. That simply makes me think we need a new party... an effective one with an actual agenda that I want to get behind.

For a party that doesn't stand for anything but winning, they
sure have lost a lot of elections since 2006-2008, when America wanted to make its voice heard against Bushco, Middle Eastern wars, the Patriot Act, etc. And, even if they could, that's not what they're getting paid for.)
btw Bernie has not been in the Senate for 30 years.
Sanders' record
Here's everything Bernie Sanders has done since arriving in D.C. in 1991. The information can be sorted in a number of ways.

thanks for linking to source. Here begins the back and forth discussion we had last year:But then HenryAWallace made me go back and look again. 3 bills in total is what I saw, not very impressive.
How 'bout you give a list of bills passed by Bernie from your link? Because I am too lazy to recreate the wheel again. I could be wrong, am willing to see a better view on legislation that has actually passed and is doing well for the masses right now. Thanks

Amazing to have assumptions challenged isn't it?
Thanks, Centaurea.
It is the same source for both. Working on it.
Just for fun, there is nothing more I can do without money since Citizen's United. Thanks Clinton. It is busy work and I wish I were smarter, grabbed a better education when I could've.
