We need the sweet pain of anticipation to tell us we are really alive.

Oh boy, I am revved up and ready to roll.

I have stuff scattered all over the house, ready to get stuffed into dry bags and strapped to the motorcycle.

I plan to buzz US250 from Stauton, VA to Ashland, OH.

I plan to hit the road, Wednesday, and I am looking forward to a couple days of fast riding, followed by a weekend meet up and camping with old friends. The venue has quite a good vibe.

It will be great to hang out with old friends.

That's funkin' it!

Have a great weekend!

@HenryAWallace @HenryAWallace I was having some anxiety about riding back roads from Wake Forest, NC to Fairmont, WV in one day. I decided to scoot up to Roanoke, VA, on the 4th, shaving 2-3 hours off of the ride to Fairmont.

I have family arriving today from three different states until the 5th. Can't wait for the party to start. I've needed the company and the break to lift my spirits.

Have an awesome time with your friends!

Have a beautiful day and holiday, folks! Pleasantry

@Raggedy Ann I know I shouldn't, but I love grilled hot dogs. NC all the way is chili, slaw and mustard. I like PA all the way. Chili, onions and mustard.

Enjoy your company!

Have a great fast Holiday Run. You stay safe, too. May the Biker weather gods smile upon you! Smile
I saw an article about a protest called "The Water of Life." It made me think of this tune which Jobim wrote about life but called "The Waters of March." I have always been a fan of classical Spanish guitar music, and Latin Jazz. Trite as this cliche sounds, Antonio Carlos Jobim is definitely one of the giants of jazz.

To my fellow Progressives and c99ers everywhere--have a great and mellow Fourth of July!! Rec'd!! Smile

(I've got that James Gang tune on the original vinyl. Great music picks as always! LOL.)

@orlbucfan Thanks for the reminder. I am a big Latin Jazz fan. I know, big surprise, huh? One of these Fridays.

I have a gnarly route planned. Especially, Roanoke to Fairmont.

Man you channeled me. First Joe Walsh and Funk 49...then what has to be the first ever motorcycle racing on c99p...top that with a blues guitar legend (too bad he drank too much) Rory Gallagher. Rory played at a dive bar in PA in front of 50 people including me.

Fave Rory song (which I will find and insert here later) is 'Going to my hometown'.

Been there once. overnight, with my boyfriend. How that passed muster now escapes me. I saw a Can-Am there. Up and coming drivers, one of whom was killed at Indy a few years later.

Have fun, stay safe.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

@riverlover The worst tragedy, during Vintage Days, was the time a Norton Commando had a circulation problem and died on the track.

Debate: Is Putin a Threat to Democracy?
Atlantic Magazine contributing editor Jeffrey Taylor and former White House Clinton counselor Bill Curry debate the proposition that demonizing Putin is justified

If it's too dry to listen to, TRN have a transcript, those good guys.

There's a news story that is breaking, sort of breaking. BBC reports the following, "NATO defense ministers are reviewing progress in what's known as the alliance's 'enhanced forward presence,' it's deployment of troops eastwards to reassure worried allies and deter any Russian move west. NATO has dispatched four battalion-sized battle groups, one deployed in Poland, one in each of the three Baltic republics: Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. The US has also begun to bring back heavy armored units to Western Europe." It's also been reported by AP that President Trump will meet President Putin at the G20 next week. So this feels very much like the old days of the Cold War

Gimme a break. Not in my neighborhood (ie Hamburg), please. Can you all go home and leave us alone? It's really fun to read German newspapers these days and all that G20 stuff.

For the third time Kathleen Vinehout is testing the waters for a gubernatorial run. I get her news letter and she's always talking about real, practical solutions to real, actual problems that constituents are enduring - real people. I don't know if she's gonna run an economic populist campaign - I hope so but only time will tell. All she's said so far is something like "Democrats should run as Democrats." Reading my own bias into that - a foolish thing to be sure - I get the impression that she's saying no R-Lite. If she does that, she'll be up against the staunchly neoliberal/corrupt Martha Laning(state chair) and the WisDems machine and whatever corrupt, neoliberal drone they hand pick to lose in the general (2018).

Interestingly, the folks down in Florida took note of this too. I don't know what to make of that.
