And there is this

I'm truly ashamed of some folks here.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/6/22/1674438/-I-m-truly-ashamed-of...

You know where this is going...

Seven years ago, I launched a campaign to thank Nancy Pelosi for her amazing work in shepherding the Affordable Care Act through the darkness and manage, against all odds, to get it signed into law by President Obama.

On the Wreck list. Nearly 1K wrecks.

My comment way down the bottom

Care to name those you are “ashamed” of?

Seems you have nearly another 1k wrecking you up.

Come on, tell me who they are so they can be purged.

Is this the end?

Stay tuned.

Okay, so I clicked the GOS link -- forgetting that I'm presently running my Windows 7 installation on my dual-boot Mac. Damn. It automatically logged me in to the Orange nuthouse. And what a nuthouse it is. Once all the comments (slowly) loaded, I decided to read a few. I mean, hell, I'm already logged in...

My gawd, what a mess! These poor deluded people are going to get the coup de grâce in 2018. They aren't going to see it coming any better than they did with the election of Trump. They've lost - what? - five legislative elections in a row since Trump was elected? And they still cannot seem to pick up even a whiff of the stench coming from DNC headquarters? Well, the American voters smell it, and it's unmistakable. Thomas Frank (undoubtedly persona non grata these days at Dkos) got it 100% right and the Dkos minions absolutely refuse to open their eyes. I suspect that their eyes will need salve after 2018.

It's almost unbelievable to read those comments. I couldn't log out fast enough.

I don't spend nearly as much time there as I used to (not out of protest or anything- it's all just so redundant and boring now!).

Every time I sign on I expect a bojo or another time out. Not because I've violated any site rules as I understand them, but just because.

There's at least one admin (or mod, or whatever she is) who already has it in for me, so I know it's just a matter of time.

I saw some nitwit flag a diary challenging Nancy Pelosi's leadership position today. The flag was because the diary says something about Pelosi being past her "use by" date (I know that's pretty extreme and shocking, I almost didn't want to repeat it here in case there are innocent children reading...).

Bob Johnson wrote a diary yesterday that I think nailed it. Kos doesn't care that site traffic is tanking, he only cares about building that email list to make the site a fundraising juggernaut and himself a kingmaker. Sounds about right. Sad.

@Dopeman

It gets worse over there by the day.

I don't spend nearly as much time there as I used to (not out of protest or anything- it's all just so redundant and boring now!).

And their wonderful new platform and cloud-based architecture..... gaaaaakkk!! Scrolling takes for fucking ever, other transactions still longer -- but those ads sure keep loading on time!

Our beloved JtC dances technical circles, stars, and curlicues around that crap!

And now for the only kind of ad you see here on c99:
Folks, if you can, please CONTRIBUTE MONEY to keep c99 the great place it is today!
The previous has been a Public Service Announcement. I don't know if it qualifies legally, but it is in the public interest!

@Dopeman I saw Bob's diary, he was spot on and I really expected to see him banned because of it. I guess Bob brings too many clicks to the site for Mooselini to ban him.

I also saw another, now deleted diary by Walt starr, that was a tribute to just how delusional those that remain there have become. The diary was titled "Bernie Sanders needs to SHUT THE F*(% UP AND SIT THE F*(% DOWN!!!!!!!!!" The diary may be gone but Walt starr's comments will live on infamy.

https://www.dailykos.com/user/Walt%20starr/comments

They have completely jumped the shark over there. They don't even begin to realize how completely out of touch they are. Demolosers can do no wrong! It doesn't matter what happens, it wasn't anything that a Demoloser could have done. They've become as delusional as Trump.

I'm ashamed to admit that I ever had anything to do with that place.

@dkmich @dkmich Edited to correct Bob, I hope. Upthread mentions the Bob Johnson diary. I always think of him as the original BoJo because he gets away with being a dick since the beginning. I liked him, heh, when I used to "like" people over there. Cheers.
Bobswern finally got bojo'd. I don't know where to find him now, haven't looked yet. Here is his last comment over there, under the "Dear Burnie -- Shut-Up or Put-Up" diary:

Another typical diary that reminds me of the Facebook-ization of Daily Kos.

I’m sure if this place tries harder it can/will become even more dumbed-down than the pathetic state it’s in, today.

90% of the posts here—including those on the front page—are little more than status quo Party propaganda, these days.

Essentially, as far as this diary's concerned, the "lede" (Hah!) is: “The Party needs more lemmings that do what the status quo tells them to do.”

This strategy has worked out so well for us over the past decade, hasn’t it?

@Arrow I hope he does, too. I learned so much from reading his diaries, you know, back when TOP published stuff worth reading.

My last several years over there I had my comp set to not show the FP but rather go straight to diaries. The FP was nothing but juvenile snarking about Repubs. If you didn't read the articles, you'd have thought it was a site for Repubs b/c pictures of them were everywhere. If I wanted to look at goddamned McConnell or Paul Ryan, I'd be a goddamned Repub.

Unfortunately, I read rather quickly. I'd moved down several pages through the comments deifying the petrified prune of California, the head dollar-snatcher of the DNC, before I realized the comments had exceeded 11 on the barf-worthy meter. I was lucky to get out to there when I did.

Bush was president, the same people gave Obama a pass when he continued PNAC's goals in the Middle East. Drones. War on whistleblowers. Expanded the spy programs. Record number of immigrants deportations. Killed Gaddafi for doing the same things that he was doing at home. (see video below) Lectured government leaders for doing the same things that police in America were doing. Everything on the table energy policy. All the rest of the things he did or didn't do after promising that he would do or what he said he wouldn't do.

Now people are saying that people are being mean to Pelosi for asking for new blood to change the direction of the country after seeing so many seats lost at the state and federal levels and losing the 6 special elections since Trump was elected...apparently, any criticism of her is just more sexism, ageism and the rest of the 'isms that Hillary supporters accused people who criticized Hillary for what she did or didn't do during her time as secretary of state.

The alt left is too demanding for asking for policies that would help people who are falling further and further behind and who want this country's march to global hegemony to stop.

These are some of things that people on that site used to be for or against.
Apparantly, the new kids on the block didn't get the memo on the issues that the DP used to stand for until the Clintons threw away the policies that FDR, JFK, RFK and MLK stood for.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

mimi's picture

Those of you who want new blood, please realize that it takes time to learn the rules and customs of government, and to make the relationships needed to influence people and get things done. Politics requires compromise, that is the way our system is set up.

Never challenge the system? It's the argument and accusation to someone being outside of "Realpolitik", I guess. I hear similar similar arguments here in Germany all day long.

There are compromises the conscience some of the little people sometimes in their guts' feelings don't want to make. That's the point were some, who can do it without repercussions, don't hesitate anymore to force others to make those compromises and it ends up along the road in a system where torture rules behind the curtain and in secret prisons.

In a digital mode that's what is developing online. Other than your mind nothing and nobody gets killed and everybody survives... it is said. I guess the next experiment is to watch how your mind being tortured online skips over to torture in the physical world. I remember comments where the nerd coders, who make a living of coding, deny vehemently that what they produce with their codes (games, violence etc) doesn't jump over into the physical world and isn't harmful or dangerous to the innocent "consumer". I don't believe it.

The US PTB have long been there, at home and abroad - and that is not the end, just part of the fascist expansion. The billionaires and corporations, as well as their puppets, must be removed from politics and policy on a global basis, if we wish to survive. Don't ask me how...

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

Diary author ka-ching reminder. No shame there, he is just doing a public service and all. Still trying to "fix" the "Patient Protection Act", even as the framework collapses (Supreme Court shrug), while Ds offer intangible values to vote for instead. double meh

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, was passed in the senate on December 24, 2009, and passed in the house on March 21, 2010. It was signed into law by President Obama on March 23rd, 2010 and upheld in the supreme court on June 28, 2012.

From his FAQ:

Are you a professional statistician or analyst?
Not at all. I'm not doing actual analysis or true projections; I'm just plugging a bunch of data into a spreadsheet and adding it all up.

Are you a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, orderly or other type of healthcare industry worker?
No. I'm a website developer in Michigan.

Are you an insurance company employee or any other sort of healthcare industry expert?
No. I'm a website developer in Michigan.

UPDATE 11/2/15: Well, I'm still not a medical/healthcare industry professional, nor have I ever worked for an insurance company, but after doing this for 2 years and being cited as an expert/guru/what have you by media outlets/writers ranging from the ideological left (Paul Krugman, the New Republic, Vox.com) to the ideological right (Investor's Business Daily, the Daily Caller and even the CATO Institute), I think it's safe to say that I've more than proven my credibility when it comes to Affordable Care Act data analysis.

Are you a paid political operative? Do you work for a political party or advocacy organization?
No. I'm active in the local Democratic party, but purely as a volunteer.

Cannot find the phrase "dailykos" anywhere on the page, although it's a major outlet for what he spews. Moar page views. Make of it what you will, I think PU.
