Sad in Texas
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has called a special session, largely so he can push once again for the removal of transgender people from from participation in human society (i.e. Senate Bill 6).
Tristan Reyna is 8 and wants Texas legislators to know just how much they would be ruining her life.

Tristan was 2 years old when she discovered she was a girl. At age 8, she is an average, active student who enjoys acting and going to the beach.
She played Nala, a female lion, in the play Lion King before school ended. Prior to that, she played Alice in Alice In Wonderland. Tristan and her grandmother Elizabeth Watson are asking lawmakers for equality.
As intelligent people they can come up some simple solutions. Especially if there are not documented crimes committed by [transgender] people.
They have needs and one of those needs is going to the bathroom.

Sadly, it's not so much that Abbott is stupid, it's that he knows what got him elected.

How about we just let them have their little, Big Gov't Personal Infringement law, regulating where people use the fucking bathroom?
Everyone, abso-fucking-lutely EVERYONE, is required by law to carry your goddamn birth certificate if you need or simply want to go to the fucking bathroom. And, every fucking person entering a public restroom is required to present it in order to enter said bathroom.
Hell, I won't even get into the visual inspections - but hey, you can't be too sure now days with them, there sneaky trans folk, am I right? If you have nothing to hide, and whatnot.
Now, in order to enforce it, we create Toilet Monitor positions for every single fucking bathroom available to the public. BUT, since the vast majority of businesses do not support the idiot law, tax money will be used to pay for all those new government jobs and the benefits that go along with them.
Don't have your birth certificate? Too bad. And don't even think about going outside - you'll end up arrested for indecent exposure and forced to register as a sex offender or, as a cis Houston man recently learned - you could end up with an off duty cop egging on her Neanderthal husband to use a lethal cop "choke" hold on you until you're comatose and eventually dead.
All this goddamn horrible shit because of power junkie assholes playing babysitter over where the hell people use the bathroom - and they're the ones who use the term Nanny State .
It's all maddening!

Abbott is not only a fascist, he is smart. Incredibly smart. I have friends who have gone up against him in court, or watched him in action.
Given how afraid of the Devil those elected officials are, I expect this bill to pass, and go all the way up to the Supreme Court before it is overturned.
And you and I and other Texas taxpayers will cover the costs.

Not the best odds
Thing is, there is no guarantee that it would be overturned. By the time this issue is before the Supreme Court, there may be more Trump appointees than now. Hell, I have no faith in them even now.
If the Court would not hold such a law invalid, laws mimicking the Texas statute would quickly pop up in the majority of states.

My paralegal showed me a SC ruling last week that was truly astonishing in its' fairness. I think the ruling about warrantless searches of cell phones was a positive. Whether that extends to a fair ruling on where to pee is certainly not a given.
But I guarantee Abbott is ready for it to go all the way.

Yes, I'm also convinced that Abbott, Patrick, and whole sick crew intend to drive this bus all the way to the top. I hope I live long enough to see them kicked to the gutter and swept to the sewer where they belong. They wear their false morality on their sleeves, yet they are the most immoral - read that as most unchristian - bunch around.

I know that you know about him winning a substantial, personal injury lawsuit (which I frankly believe he deserved), and then fucking over other people who sue for their own injuries (tort reform), but not everyone does, so I'm repeating it.
He's a conniving, slime ball, hypocrite.
