Breaking: New Info on Seth Rich - Wikileaks Connection UPDATED
Caitlin Johnstone tweets that Fox News is reporting tonight that a private investigator hired by his family that Seth was communicating with Wikileaks:

Rod Wheeler, a private investigator hired by the Rich family, suggests there is tangible evidence on Rich's laptop that confirms he was communicating with WikiLeaks prior to his death.
There are juicy suggestions of a coverup. Click the link to read more.

Fox News has a more full report this morning:
A federal investigator who reviewed an FBI forensic report -- generated within 96 hours after DNC staffer Seth Rich's murder -- detailing the contents Rich’s computer said he made contact with WikiLeaks through Gavin MacFadyen, a now-deceased American investigative reporter, documentary filmmaker, and director of WikiLeaks who was living in London at the time.
The Democratic National Committee staffer who was gunned down on July 10 on a Washington, D.C., street just steps from his home had leaked thousands of internal emails to WikiLeaks, law enforcement sources told Fox News.

44 thousand emails with 17 thousand attachments. Worth clicking to read the rest.
The scope of this assertion from the article is a bit broad:
“My investigation shows someone within the D.C. government, Democratic National Committee or Clinton team is blocking the murder investigation from going forward,” Wheeler told Fox News. “That is unfortunate. Seth Rich’s murder is unsolved as a result of that.”
Other tantalizing tidbits include that he was alive for two hours at the hospital and that apparently nearby security footage may show two individuals following Rich.
Had to throw this in - InfoWars wants to know about the timing of Seth's evening:
Rich visited Lou’s City Bar on the evening before his death and began drinking heavily. He left at 1:45am and headed to another bar called Wonderland, which closed at 2:30am that night. No other bars are clubs were open after this time.
The one mile walk from Wonderland to Rich’s Bloomingdale home would normally have taken around 30 minutes, possibly a little longer if he was drunk.
However, police didn’t hear the gunshots that led to his death until 4:19am, leaving a gap of nearly two hours between when Rich would have left Wonderland and when he was shot dead.
What was Rich doing in the time between leaving the bar and walking home?
They don't have any answers, either...
I believe the Fox piece has evolved in the past couple hours - these two paragraphs appear to be in contradiction to one another:
But a spokesman for Rich's family on Tuesday said Wheeler was not authorized to speak for the family and called assertions Seth Rich sent emails to WikiLeaks "unsubstantiated." Brad Bauman said even if purported emails were to surface, it would not necessarily mean Rich had helped WikiLeaks.
and
The revelation is consistent with the findings of Wheeler, whose private investigation firm was hired by a third party on behalf of Rich’s family to probe the case.

Whoa! Thanks for posting this
Whoa! Thanks for posting this - darned unfortunate that I'll have to wait to listen to the videos, due to thin walls and sleeping roommates in adjoining rooms, though...

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
I wonder if the DNC offered a reward.
@HenryAWallace Nice.
Even if they didn't have him killed, he's apparently just riff raff, so not worth the trouble to solve the mystery. Murder, schmurder.

The DNC did, after all, dedicate a bike rack to him.
That's impressive, isn't it?
The 'what' may still be on Rich's laptop.
One obvious question: If Seth Rich was truly killed in a botched robbery attempt, why would the police want to impound his laptop?
Another less obvious question: Why would the FBI be involved at all?

Here's something I'd never listened to before
It's a podcast - an interview with Donna Brazile that was broadcast sometime in February of this year right before the DNC held their convention in Atlanta where Tom Perez was chosen as new DNC chair.
Start at about the 2:30 mark.
Donna Brazile was talking about how when she was chosen as DNC Interim Chair after DWS resigned, she was having a really good time and then she got that phone call. And the phone call she was talking about was the one in which she told that Seth Rich had been murdered.
She says that Seth's death really turned things around. She also said Seth was part of her department along with two other staffers. Seth had developed a lot of the the technology that the DNC was using to help citizens register to vote.

Wow! Thanks for letting me know.
I don't have a twitter account, but I'm glad some people who do are getting the story out.
That reporter (Brook Hines) did SUCH a fantastic job.
Facebook too....
It is also at the top of our FB reach.

Thanks I just now saw it
I only go over there about every 3-4 days.
That's a great catch, LSM. Brazile praising Seth Rich...If so,
that he was so instrumental in developing DNC voter technology, then why wouldn't they have offered a reward for his death, as Wikileaks has (and according to this RW meme, the DC Police also). Perhaps they didn't want to call any unnecessary attention to a former, crucial employee serving them with a lawsuit charging them with fraud.

We all were
thinking that Seth was the DNC leaker. Russian hack, my backside! Now, where did the order for this hit come from? That's the only real unsolved question about this sordid affair. Really, a robbery where nothing was taken. SMH.
But something was taken,
"Obama promised transparency, but Assange is the one who brought it."
But look! A squirrel!
A Russian squirrel!
Kinda like this?
Yep. That's the squirrel I was thinking of, all right.
That arrow is to the left...

people on the streets get robbed every minute of
every day. They rarely get killed in the process.
I can't imagine the lap top being impounded since it was not stolen, should not be evidence, and even if it were evidence, the victim's family could seek to get a copy of the hard drive by court order.
When I got robbed, the police most certainly did not take my computers.
I have contacted the FBI numerous times to help investigate things, such as white collar crimes, or fishy government activities. Their rule is that if the state police is investigating it, they will not. Only when the locals will not investigate will they start up.
Nothing about Rich's death is a normal, every day attempted robbery.

I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.

It could easily be simply by coincidence,
but the chief of the MPDC, Cathy Lynn Lanier, resigned from her position just five weeks after Rich was murdered.

Here's the rule of thumb for me.
Occam's Razor...
The simplest explanation that fits the facts is that there is a reason that this person was murdered that has nothing to do with a robbery, since nothing was taken.
Assuming that the perpetrator freaked out, took nothing, (and yet IN that state of panic, managed to perfectly cover up the crime) then it was essential for the police to confiscate equipment, and the fact that this person was in contact with many folks who were in position to do serious political harm to people with the ability to assassinate this person...
Too many variables. Simplest explanation is most likely. He was giving info to the political enemies of someone with the motive and ability to kill him. That person also has a proven network of people willing to lie and obfuscate on any crime, no matter how serious. Hell, these people cover up mass murder overseas. What's ONE death in the spirit of "National Security"?
And that's the part that makes me the most crazy. They actually think that by killing people, they're doing good.
Edit: added another layer of complexity which I had forgotten.

COINTELPRO reprise? McCarthy redux?
What would it take to pry Rich's laptop
from the iron grip of the FBI and DC police? Plenty of juice, would be my guess. They've had it for ten months now, and not a word about what's on it.

If they ever turn it loose,
"Obama promised transparency, but Assange is the one who brought it."
I doubt they'll ever turn it loose if it was in fact a coverup
murder. It will end up in the same place they keep JFK's brain.
Heh, GTMA. The government having lost track of JFK’s brain
Yep. Us pussy-grabbers tend to think alike.
@lotlizard
If only they'd actually used it! It would work so much better than so many others despoiling public office since.

Thought today that the deep state is behind the Russia hysteria.
Making people scared for a coup. Hell with rule of law. Make a big scary monster to bring back the cold war and now with the new fanged information tools, this empire can control the masses, unlike other empires where the peasants revolted.
But this time, The New Climate Regime, which has been the major political actor on the globe for the last 30 years shows without a doubt that the modernization project -- everyone having US life style -- is a lie, so time to grab and kill and run the world.

We didn't have politics until Bernie shook the logs from the people's eyes. Easier to defeat him in an election than to take him out.

Irish history is literally the history of conspiracies, their failure and their success. All of the bizarre conspiracies you've ever read in fiction have happened in Irish history alone, I'm sure they happen everywhere else too.
So it is important to remember that once a civilian deals themselves into "the game" they make themselves eligible for targeting by any other secret group or agency. Rich may have been murdered by a non-Clinton/DNC group if they figured out he was the Wiki Leaker. It is less likely than a Dem conspiracy but this is the hall of mirrors now and rarely is anything quite what it seems. I think of John Le Carré's George Smiley in these situations.
The Seth Rich murder was suspicious from the start, the Shawn Lucas death and the delay in releasing the autopsy is also suspicious. The Chandra Levy murder is another one that reeks. The way it played out that weekend on local news, and how it was used immediately to take down Gary Condit was all odd, jarring and suspicious. They found a scapegoat to convict, conviction overturned later.
Remember House of Cards is an exaggeration. The people involved are nowhere near that clever or competent.
Isn't it already
being floated today that Russia killed him because he was their intermediary to Wikileaks?
Anything's possible, right?
No doubt some are.
