Russia Must Be Stopped!

I think I speak for everyone when I say that Russia must be stopped at all costs!

Just look at this international poll of who people think poses the greatest threat to world peace.

threat.jpg

Even Australia thinks Russia is the world's biggest threat to peace.
And they should be scared.

Russia dropped more than 26,000 bombs on seven different countries last year alone.
While at the same time, Russia has put its troops in 70% of the nations of the world.

Special_Forces.jpg

That graphic is horrifying. A violent, aggressive, militaristic, and heavily-armed nation that is putting its troops all over the globe.
Plus Russia has a long history of overthrowing democratic governments, and even supporting terrorists.
No wonder everyone is afraid of Russia.

And it doesn't stop there.
Russia is one of very few nations that still kill their own people. Even their own children for Gawd Sakes!

juvenile_dp_in_modern_world.png

While at the same time, Russia imprisons its own population at the highest rate on the planet, while its police shoot down civilians in a manner "reminiscent of the past racial terror of lynching."

Map_of_incarceration_by_country.gif

Based on this overwhelming evidence, is it any wonder that Democrats are terrified of this distant, external threat?

It's amazing those crazy Russians haven't nuked themselves.

Look at how they kill their own people. No civilized nation is on this list.

@gjohnsit I think Russia would come in a bit behind the Clinton Crime Family. I don't see either of them on the map.

I am sitting here swearing at the TV. I am watching Elizabeth Warren on Bill Maher. She is in the first segment being interviewed, and she is using Bernie's agenda and words and acting like she's got something to do with them.

Putin would fit into C99 quite well. I can't possibly summarize the entire article here - there's just too many valid points.

Putin’s New World Order
Is Vladimir Putin the most popular Russian leader of all time?
...
The Munich speech was delivered a full four years after Washington launched its bloody invasion of Iraq, an invasion that Putin bitterly opposed. The speech shows a maturity of thought on Putin’s part who, unlike other world leaders, isn’t quick to judge or draw hasty conclusions. Instead, he takes his time, analyzes a situation thoroughly, and then acts accordingly. Once he’s made up his mind, he rarely wavers. He’s not a flip flopper.

Putin’s opposition to unipolar world rule, that is, Washington dictating policy and everyone else falling in line, is not a sign of anti-Americanism, but pragmatism. Washington’s 16 year-long rampage across Central Asia, North Africa and the Middle East, has only intensified crises, fueled instability, bred terrorism, and increased the death and destruction. There have been no victories in the War on Terror, just endless violence and mountains of carnage. On top of that (as Putin says) “No one feels safe.”
...
The most interesting part of Putin’s Valdai speech is his analysis of the social unrest that has swept across the EU and US resulting in the widespread rejection of traditional political candidates and their parties. Putin has watched these developments carefully and given the matter a great deal of thought. Here’s what he says:

“With the political agenda already eviscerated as it is, and with (American) elections ceasing to be an instrument for change but consisting instead of nothing but scandals and digging up dirt…And honestly, a look at various candidates’ platforms gives the impression that they were made from the same mold – the difference is slight, if there is any. …

Especially this.

No American can vote against the interests of Goldman Sachs.

Even if their own interests demand just that.

that's how it looks today.

Even Sanders is weak on this point.

All usa troops on foreign should assume defensive positions only until they can be withdrawn.
bases closed, etc.

let's try that and see how the world looks.

Lol, so Putin's Russia is, comparatively speaking, a bastion of democracy against the US Democrats/Republicans - no wonder they want him removed!

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

Alligator Ed's picture

@CB Putin is a man who can put together a series of coherent thoughts in blocks of paragraphs totally evaluating a world view. If only we had a Putin-like leader, in the sense of understanding the world, self-reflection and an apparent desire to seek political solutions. Okay, I'm a Russian troll, I suspect. But tell me who in the West has been able to articulate the issues better? Trump? Obama? Killary? David Cameron? Merkel? Hollande?

Can Trump even write a coherent sentence? A tweet does not count as a literary achievement.

People do not at all vote as the official and respectable media outlets advised them to, nor as the mainstream parties advised them to. Public movements that only recently were too far left or too far right are taking center stage and pushing the political heavyweights aside.

There is volcanic magma just below the surface, waiting to engulf the landscape and all within it when crustal distortion reaches the breaking point. And progressively breaking it is. Globalism and populism cannot exist within the same space.

I believe the quoted segment supports my view (which is not necessarily my desire) that LePen will win. Brexit--->Frexit---> EU dead. Nato soon to perish.

Why even have a U.N. when the U.S. occupies 70% of countries with military? It, like our electoral process, is a sham. U.N. was a good idea but it will go the way of the League of Nations.

that thing you wrote years ago on how the US interfered in Russia's government back in the day when Yeltsin was bombing their Parliament? That would be fun to read again given the current hysteria about how Russia made millions of Americans not vote for Herself.
BTW, you forgot to mention here how Russia is aiding genocide in Yemen.

Now, if we could only find someone to save us from Democrats. And Republicans. and Libertarians (looking at you, David Koch, and your little brother, too).

BTW, didn't Hillary and Obama set the reset button with Russia, supposedly to erase all the bad blood created before Hillary became Secretary of State? Bizarrely, Hillary even had a prop button. With a fresh start like that in 2009, Where could it all possibly have gone wrong? Well, according to Hillary, nothing went wrong. She was brilliant, as always. Brilliant, I tells ya! Yeah, that's the ticket!

We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.

@Azazello The democratic party is simply replaying Hillary's campaign with the same themes. One of Clinton's few major themes was to equate Trump with Putin. The democrats along with the media may have stirred up xenophobia about Russia, but I don't think this is a winning electoral strategy for 2018 and 2020 elections.

I am beginning to wonder if the democrats will be in worse shape going into 2018 than in 2016. The town hall meetings are not turning out to be cheer leading sessions with people really pissed off about health care.

@MrWebster Only Trump is xenophobic! Medusa can't be a war-monger against Russia because of her lucrative financial deals with Ivan--or Vladimir, or whomever. Don't forget, following the sage humanitarian example of Madeline "special place in hell" Albright, Killary instituted a bombing for Peace program in Libya; after she found out we still had surplus bombs, it was expanded to Syria.

but damned if they aren't trying it. Some group called American Bridge 21st Century Foundation has been running radio ads attempting to link Repub lawmakers with Putin. (McClatchy)
One of the three targets is my own representative. I want to see her beaten in 2018 but I don't think the Russia smear is going to do it.

Assuming that the Dems do not get Berned out and reconstructed top to bottom - GOOD!

Never vote for evil again! It's bad enough having evil inflicted on us, but - asking for it???

Edit: obviously (I hope, but then wondered) not implying that you would, just can't figure why any informed person would vote for a corporate evil.

you're not supposed to be listening to the Russians, you're supposed to be listening to Americans. You have obviously not been paying enough attention to your teevee set, otherwise you would know that Putin is an evil dictator! You'd know that Putin is not a real nice guy like John Kerry is, and you would know for a fact that Russia is an Evil Empire that is preparing to invade at least half of Europe. Any day now! Are you not aware that Russian spies clearly prevented Hillary from becoming the next Leader of the entire Free World? You can't get much more evil than that, Kiddo.

My God man, even extreme leftists like Rachel Maddow know that! Your ignorance of the collective wisdom embodied by virtually all our teevee pundits is appalling. You are spewing Russian propaganda Sir, can you not see that? Nobody should ever listen to a word Putin or Lavrov or any of those Russians have to say, because they are all liars and thugs and dictators and criminals, or possibly worse -- which you would know if you just watched a little more teevee, instead of reading all those FAKE NEWS sites on the internet.

Nice essay. Having any sort of rational discussion about the United States, Russia, Putin, and foreign policy is no longer possible. Same in the EU. When people who were once rational and progressive have turned to the dark side, no coming back. There is nothing one can do when when just expressing simple doubt about the most wild, improbable conspiracy theories results in a barrage of McCarthyistic accusations from people drunk with extreme partisanship. Don't like the US shooting off missiles to Syria--Putin stooge.

The only response now is satire like this essay to mock the willfully stupid.

seems to have bought a one-way ticket to Dystopia. The world seems, as it appears daily on our teevee screens, to be going ninety miles an hour down a dead end street!

But wait a minute... could it not be that the seductively moving pictures and commentary we receive daily from our msm, and all those marvelously authoritative interpretations of events provided by CNN, MSNBC and the like, might somehow be... I hate to say it, but...inaccurate?

Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.

Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.

@earthling1 Yah, from what I read, polls indicate Putin is popular in Russia. But then American pundits claim the polls are rigged. It is like that for everything except for what people call "threat inflation". It seems this borderline third world nation that is no more than a gas station, has the sophistication to produce military hardware for which the West must always catch up. You know, more money for defense budgets. The most evil skilled hackers in the world, but they can't help but leave their tracks even on the most teenage hacks.

In a dangerous way, we are re-creating the image of Russia that we had during the Cold War, and also that Nazi Germany had of them. You know those infernal plots to undermine European countries is being done by the Jews erh, ah, Russians.
