Oh, HELL, No!

With mind-boggling tone deafness, one Lindsey Ellefson writes:

Hillary Clinton released a video today designed to rally the Democratic base and bolster feelings of hopefulness.

http://www.mediaite.com/online/in-new-video-clinton-rallies-democrats-an... What in Hell is Her up to, releasing a video? Whatever it is, we know it's for Her benefit because that is Her hissedstory.

As we look to Her video for the hope that Ellesfson touts, what do we hear? Apparently, Her is very proud that Democrats united to protest the election and the inauguration and the administration of Her erstwhile rival. So, this video generates about the same level of hope as Not My Nominee's incredibly negative Presidential election campaign. (Did She not read any of the critiques of Her election campaign strategy?)

Ironically, Her takes credit for what she terms the most progressive Democratic platform in history. That characterization is likely inaccurate. Her may have meant to say that it was the most progressive Democratic platform since She and her husband joined Al From, Koch Industries, Merck and several other corporations inside a Trojan Horse, built for the purpose of turning the Democratic Party into a pro-choice Republican Party because, after all, From had promised to make Bubba President. As the Clintons demonstrate, anyone would sell his or or her soul to be President. http://americablog.com/2010/08/koch-industries-gave-funding-to-the-dlc-a... https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2013/12/recruiting-bill-cli... After all, the Post-Presidency influence peddling charitable work alone brings in hundreds of millions of dollars.
Even calling it a pro-choice Republican Party may be optimistic: While She was running with the endorsement of Planned Parenthood in hand, Her said that She'd consider a Constitutional amendment--implied, to overrule Roe v. Wade--if it took into account the health of the mother. IOW, on choice, Hillary followed the lead of Republican SCOTUS Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. (Ain't triangulation grand?)

Thanks to Ross Perot and others, in 1992, From was indeed able to make good on his cynical promise to the perennially self-serving Clintons, paving the way for near-demolition of the Party that had held one or both Houses of Congress almost continuously since Franklin Delano Roosevelt--right up until 1994. So what if Bubba was the first President since Nixon to win by a plurality--and the only one in U.S. history to win by a plurality twice? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States'_presidential_plurality_victories The important thing was that, for the first time since FDR, a Democrat had won two Presidential elections. Of course, Jimmy Carter was the only other Democrat who had even run for a second Presidential term since FDR; and he who was up against the Gipper after a disastrous first Carter-Mondale term, but why let facts bog us down? Heaven knows, Vichy Democrats never do.

Meanwhile, the platform for which Her shamelessly takes credit in the video was the result of Senator Sanders' delegates' fighting tooth and nail at the Democratic National Convention against those who were with Her. So, of course, She acknowledges Senator Sanders and/or his supporters. Oh, yes, Her did! If you missed it, you just don't appreciate Her subtlety, you Subtlety Not Appreciating, Demexiting Ingrate, you! She said, plainly as plain can be, "After the primary, we came together as a Party...." So, who ran against her in the primary? Hmmm? That tribute in Her video to Democrats sure wasn't referring to Governor Chafee, now, was it? And, of course, "we" includes the supporters of Sanders. Don't you dare ever again say Her is not the soul of graciousness. She is, too!

So, other than former President Obama and the former FLOTUS, who did Her acknowledge in this self-serving, video whose purpose I don't yet get? Wait for it--"'Donna'-- and the rest of the DNC leadership!" Disgraced Debbie and Discredited Donna, both of whom violated the DNC charter and betrayed the trust of Democrats in an attempt to ensure Her defeated Senator Sanders in the primary "fair and square!" If you still thought Her has a shred of shame, that should make you see the light.

"The rest of the leadership of the DNC," otherwise known as Disgraced Debbie Wasserman Shultz, had to step down before giving a speech to open the 2016 Democratic National Convention--a first, I'm guessing. Thank heaven Her mitigated Disgraced Debbie's humiliation by immediately hiring Deb as--wait for itttttt--honorary chair of Her campaign's 50-state program to help elect Democrats around the country. (Did you miss that vigorous 50-state program? I did.) Still, Disgraced Debbie no doubt earned that slot. No, not because she cheated on behalf of Her, you cynic! Because Disgraced Debbie's election strategies during her tenure as head of the DNC from May 4, 2011 – July 28, 2016 yielded historic victories. Okay, those victories were for Republican candidates, but they were still historic! Plus, violating the DNC charter burnished Deb's resume--in the eyes of people like the Clintons, apparently.

No, I am not forgetting Discredited Donna Brazile, identified in this video only as "Donna." The genius who gained national notoriety managing Vice President Gore's awkward campaign (and perhaps his premature concession?) also violated the DNC charter, which apparently qualified her to become acting DNC head, succeeding her very own co-conspirator, Disgraced Debbie. "Donna's" ethical advice to her DNC subordinates? "Next time, pick up da phone." IOW, keep doing corrupt things that violate your employer's charter and the trust of Democrats who support candidates other than your anointee du jour, but avoid detection." How inspirational and uplifting and hopeful is knowing the DNC intends to continue its corruption on behalf of Third Way types? I know I'm stoked. You?

And how penitent was Disreputable "Donna" about passing questions to Her after receiving them from CNN? Brazile brazenly allowed that she would do the same thing again. Now, who would not have been inspired by having her appointed acting DNC head, when any remotely ethical group would have fired her? And there was also the honor of being thanked by name--well, by first name, anyway--in this video, right along with the Obamas, when DWS got referred to only as "the rest of the DNC leadership." Of course, "Donna" passing those questions to Her was only one side of that transaction. The other side is that Her took those questions from "Donna" and used them to prepare--something I don't think Her has ever bothered to address and I've never heard any reporter raise. For it's part, CNN barred "Donna," but I bet they'd have Her on in a heartbeat. Because...(I give up).

And now, for your viewing pleasure, is Herself. Watch as She threatens promises reassuringly to be with us "every step of the way." See if you can figure out what Her is up to now.

we'd be talking about President Sanders right now and not the unstable Trump. Trump is overt; Clinton is covert but the general direction is the same.
Democracy was mugged by neoliberals owned by global capital.

I also want to mention that while Obama was loudly not prosecuting the banks that held up Americans to the tune of a $12Trilion bailout, Obama was prosecuting mortgage holders for lying on forms provided by the robo-signing banks. People were forced out of their homes and into poverty while those who tanked the economy walked. The Great Recession was a Great Depression for the majority.

Very nice writing - thanks.

@duckpin

You are so right. Thanks to Bush and Obama and Goldman Sachs' Paulsen, the banks got the bailout and, thanks to Obama and Holder, borrowers got the shaft. The only thing I would add is that it was not only those who lied on mortgage applications.

A housing bubble had been created, thanks to the Commodities Futures Modernization Act for which Bill Clinton had lobbied so hard. And, when the activities that the CFMA allowed caused the economy to crash, people lost jobs and could not find new ones in that economy. Because the value of their homes was way below the amount of their mortgage, borrowers could not sell their homes without paying thousands of dollars in cash to their mortgage bank at closing. That they did not have that money. Banks were not allowing them to re-finance, either.

While they could escape part of the debt by allowing the bank to foreclose, the terms of the mortgages allowed banks to get a default judgment against them for any variance between the foreclosure price and the amount of the mortgage. So, they either lost their home and remained responsible for the rest of the mortgage or they were stuck paying 9% interest on a huge mortgage when new mortgage loans were at like 2%. The banks got immunity for any mistakes they had made during that mess, including losing the note borrowers signed. (Without that immunity, no note, no right to collect or foreclose.)

All the above was so, whether the borrower had been honest down to the penny on the application for a mortgage loan, or if the borrower had lied. Btw, loan originators, who encouraged borrowers to lie, had received more of a commission for risky loans than for safe ones.

Thanks, Obama.

Thanks, Bubba.

@HenryAWallace
Hundreds of low income Americans went to jail for lying to the banks. The Justice Dept ignored the fact that it was the banks that developed these liar loan forms and ignored the fact that these loans were bundled into financial instruments for big profits abetted by the rating companies very generous ratings.

As you point out, in many cases the banks could not produce the mortgage papers showing the court that the defendant did indeed enter into a mortgage agreement with that bank. Unheard of!

@duckpin

Two morthgages, did not lie to get either one.

The loss of his job was not due to the economy--unluckily for him, his employer died, just when the economy tanked. However, because of the economy, he could not find another job. Long story, but he had a stroke. Thank heaven, it was relatively mild. I will die believing the stress was responsible for the stroke. Between the CMFA and repeal of Glass Steagall, both lobbied for hard by Greenspan, Clinton and his White House, the economy of several nations tanked. And Hillary was going to put him in charge of money matters? In the words of Bubba, in another context, "Give me a break."

@Nastarana exists by throwing people who farm in traditional, sustainable ways, off their land to create plantation-style mega-acreages to grow patented monoculture crops with heavy reliance on profitable inputs. Industrial Ag has turned countries away from being food secure to relying on imported food while exporting the genetically engineered crops.

@Wink farms are endangered. I saw a graph of the soy/corn growing region of the USA and the size of farms has gotten much much larger in the past 40 years to handle the these crops that come from those who control the seeds, etc and those few who buy the crops.
We try to buy organic and local and if those who farm in this manner can for co-ops more power to them.
Industrial chicken farmers have to build their buildings to specific plans; have to use certain feeds and additives; have to follow specific routines, etc. The farmer is turned into a contractor and has no guarantee of continuing in business if Tyson(say) can find a cheaper contractor(s) elsewhere.

@HenryAWallace of selective breeding by American Indians. They took Teosinte, which has a very hard and relatively small seed pod, and planted only the seeds that produced larger kernels and were easier to get at. Many varieties of maize were produced including Blue Corn and Popcorn.

It's interesting to me that this crop management was conducted by nomadic people who roamed in search of food returning to productive places at the same time of the year. They settled in permanent villages when ecological constraints forced them to remain to protect their crop. The American Indians also produced varieties of beans and squash.

The same thing happened in both South America - potatoes and amaranth - and extreme western Asia - different varieties of wheat - and these early agriculturists were also nomadic at the time they were selectively breeding their food crops.

@HenryAWallace remaindered books. I think we all have been told that humans "invented" agriculture and became settled in one place. When anthropologists reported that people remained nomadic for many centuries after successful selective breeding of food crops, I was interested to read more because it overturned a commonly held belief. People were forced to become settled to protect their food because of ecological constraints, mainly overpopulation and hostile bands of other people. It's also interesting that this happened in both the eastern and western hemispheres.

There was a rash of stories about Monsanto when Obama nominated Kagan. Her record was so sparse, as though she knew one day she might be nominated for the bench and did not want to have defend her record. One of the very few things I knew about her was her statement that banning same gender marriage did not violate the Constitution. However, when the case went to the SCOTUS, she voted the correct way.

The other thing was that, as Solicitor General, she had defended Monsanto. Anyway...

here's the story I think I remember

Plus,knowing what I know about aspartame, Don Rumsfeld, the revolving door at the corporate run and owned FDA, ain't no way I'm believing corporate science.

pro-Hillary? I do. Not every one of them, of course, but plenty. And I think the initial demonstrations, the ones right after election night were both instigated, by things like her mourning clothes and concession speech and by people on MSNBC, from the anchors to Michael Moore and Elizabeth Warren, but also astro-turfed. Maybe some of the big demonstrations still are being astro-turfed.

I've never seen so much fear mongering about a U.S. President as I saw on MSNBC, once they pivoted from promoting him. Even major news network coverage of the frickin' inauguration was peppered with fear mongering. Be very afraid of the President America just elected. After media gave him a huge helping hand to win the nom. George Steph, for one, had a woman with him whose sole job seemed to be making the audience wonder exactly how Trump was going to kill them. During Inauguration coverage! I've never seen anything like it.

Granted, he is a piece of work, but jeez.

It just gets worse and worse.

@gendjinn even people who talk about the DNC and Hillary's cheating don't usually talk about the worst forms of it: the changing of people's voter registration information against their will in AZ, NY, CA; the purging of 126,000 voters off the rolls in Brooklyn; the announcement that Hillary had won the nomination in the press when it wasn't mathematically so--there's even evidence of some digital vote-flipping! And then there's that weird secret coin-toss business in Iowa--just a smorgasbord of wrongdoing.

@Cant Stop the Macedonian Signal and that which much be most fiercely denied.

It really is great to see so many seeing the Dems clearly now. Let's see how the next week unfolds Smile It is definitely make or break time for those who believe they can reform the Dems, for a third party to be successful we need them to wake up and leave.

If it weren't for the people you mention and their actions we'd be talking about President Sanders right now and not the unstable Trump. Trump is overt; Clinton is covert but the general direction is the same.

As I've said many a time here: Hillary is Trump. Trump is Hillary. To-may-to, to-mah-to.

Democracy was mugged by neoliberals owned by global capital.

True indeed!

Sorry, couldn't face Her voice, but that calculating psychopathic look in Her eyes also played a role in my not feeling up to that video.

But she probably means that she'll be spying on everyone every step of the way up to and over the doubtless 'limited' nuclear-irradiated, highly polluted cliff the 99% can go over, after she and her numerous paymasters have drained them of every penny, possession and concept of rights remaining.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

@Ellen North

hardest to connect and create an illusion of sincerity, her eyes did look odd. If she were an ordinary woman, the term "crazy eyes" might be used. However, since it's Her Highness, I won't go there. Out of, you know, respect for the office.
