I was looking online this week at the work of NZ photographer, Fiona Pardington, whose images I’ve always found extremely compelling. Most of her photography is in the genre of still life, momento mori.
The two links highlighted will give you a sense of her work. I hope you find it inspiring as well.
Here is my attempt at experimenting in an area of photography I’ve rarely explored.

@Knucklehead
mad with spin on pain, very warm end of February. But mad with pain, ligament shot in my broken foot. Can I trademark each?
#2 I have something like that growing from my left knee. Do you know if it`s edible, since my pet squirrel has taken a liking to it.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
They probably don’t belong in a public museum. It’s partly a reflection on the artist himself, as the ‘creator’. A bit too much artistic license, perhaps? I don’t know enough about Lindauer to know how much was understanding and compassion, or taking advantage of the culture, as Europeans are sometimes apt to do with exotic cultures.
The minute I saw this log. I dragged it home with me I liked it so much. The beach is still full of wood and they are letting people take because how else are they going to get rid of it.
I like the parking lot, the wall and the building in the first post. There is just so very much nothing there. And I like the rhythm and counterpoint (ouch) in this one.
So here's one more for the cause.

I much appreciate your fine contributions, this evening. Got a long trip to embark on early morning, but wanted to post a photo that I ran across the other day, while searching for photos of 'James,' one of the Westminster BIS (Springers).

A gorgeous girl, IMO. There's a much better photo of her--I'll post it when I've got time to post a blurb with it.

I was going to post an image, but the "subject" line kept trying to insert "Rat", & now I`m confused, as if the cosmos knew what I had in mind of posting.
To regain control of the night, (I am not afraid) I post this life form, that may have identity issues, & prefers to look like a

BTW, The yellow back ground is a Yellow Tang, wondering about my interest in her, while the brown base is an Acropora coral that will eventually grow to be a beautiful Purple specimen. I picked it up as a little stain on a piece of rock in a display tank at my local Fish Store & thought it had promise.
Here it is about 4 years later.

Reminds of of some of the realistic floral still lifes from the 1600 with everything in them. Very nice composition.

Thank you, magiamma.
Although I am happy to be of the 2000s, I will look for images of still life paintings from 400 years earlier.

Two more portraits of Maoris …
The wax lifemask under the painting was commissioned by the painter himself.
The feathers in the woman’s hair are the feathers of the extinct Huia bird. They symbolise leadership and mana.
If you missed the work of Sangeeta Day, that snoopydawg posted last week, check it out here. It’s amazing.

I often give life to those in my collection of Death Masks, by inserting "eyes" into them.
