In honor of Barack Hussein Obama's tenure in office,it is my pleasure to announce that a select committee has voted to celebrate your years of disservice to our nation. We are therefore announcing this magnificent gift, which will be rendered at no cost to U.S. Taxpayers (because they have exhausted their monetary supply, feeding Mr. Obama's core constituency [the1%, in case you forgot]).
Without further prologue in now present to the American people, in the spirit of Hope and Change:

I learned how to make tiny chairs from corks and bails

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
My mother just called
and said she so-enjoyed listening to his talk and wanted to know if I had heard it (no).
It's so over. If I live long enough to be able to read it without choking through it, perhaps I'll read the book he will inevitably publish.
I give him credit for breaking a significant glass ceiling and for staying alive throughout two terms. (Still furious at Hillary for making the RFK reference May 2008.) Also, he's trying to make a point about renewables to one degree or another on his way out. Did I miss anything?
No credit for banksters, torturers, a modicum of credit on health care access (could have applied same amount of effort and gotten Single Payer - no excuse for abandoning it which had to do with public welfare). Those are the biggies in my mind. Oh, and warring on the whole world - that sucks. Drones. WHISTLEBLOWERS! That one's huge.
He's done some on student loans and on immigration.
Have to give Sarah her due - that Hopey Changey thing did not work out so well for a lot of us.

He speaks well & said most of the right things.
Problem is, it was mostly lies, and his actions never did match what he said.
I'm sure he White Washed his presidency
I didn't see it either.
Like all the other Pres Libraries, it will be a House of Lies.

It was all talk. Something that Obama excels in.

You forgot a biggie
The TPP. That was, for me, a real breaking point. Obama could at least try to blame the failures of regulation on the Congress, point at Republicans for obstructing this or that, but the TPP? That was entirely and completely his baby. It was with the TPP that Obama made it clear he wasn't just going to serve the 1% via benign regulatory neglect, he was going to DO something, something big, to carve out even more profits, more power, more dominance of the ownership class. He came into office promising a renegotiation of NAFTA, and after doing NOTHING on that front he decided in his final years to give us yet another neoliberal trade deal, with profit protection for the wealthy (socialism) and wage depression for everyone else (rugged individualism). The TPP teed up a golf ball for Donald Trump to hit over and over again, and in a close election it could well have made the difference.
The TPP isn't just another
The TPP isn't just another 'trade deal' giving over some appalling degree of legal control (which no-one has any right to give) to self-interests from the unwitting people of involved countries - it offshores law to a corporate/billionaire-only court where the public interest has no standing.
It's in each case a traitorous public servant embezzling the country and literally selling the people of each country into slavery, where they are considered entirely liable for - one way or another - providing the future anticipated (beyond their wildest dreams) maximized profits of thousands of involved corporations and billionaires even though it ultimately costs everyone any chance of health and life and destroys each ecology and oxygen production around the world due to then-unlimited corporate/military pollution and destruction.
The TPP and the concept of 'legalizing' the sale of entire countries and their people to destructive self-interests will not die until all involved are rotting in prison.
The TPP has - by hook or crook and dunno what threats or bribes - been signed by all traitorous/duped governments, with pre-fast-tracked others waiting to be passed by the US Congress, while all countries capable of resisting the hostile corporate take-over and conventional military invasion/attack are slated for nuking.
Nothing has changed; they're just waiting until we aren't looking or have been rendered incapable of peaceful and effective protest - although legalized government propaganda and Homeland Security taking over elections, away from independent/citizen oversight is not a good sign. These final, totalitarian 'trade bills' could already have been passed, or have bypassed Congress to keep it quiet and already be in effect for all we know, with retroactive legislation 'legalizing' this to make it seem more plausible.
All for corporate/billionaire profit and the world well lost.
(It's well known that corporations, despite being 'people', have no need of oxygen, potable water or safe food or products. The paperwork will survive without them and then Google's robots can aimlessly wander the poisoned and barren Earth forever, making all of this worthwhile. Apparently.)

I can comfortably say that your sensitivity in the recognition
of Obama's high-minded, thoughtful consideration of the unmet needs of all the people. his tireless commandeering of a difficult congress, demonstrating his peerless leadership skills, his natural ability as peacemaker, his endless pursuit of justice for all, especially for the misunderstood robber baron bankers, his struggle with aphasia and general all around chumminess -- tempered by his deep, genuine and abiding humility, can be seen only as legendary! You've picked the best possible singular song to exemplify all of his unparalleled traits!
Hats off sir! Hats off!

I was thinking
A gift wrapped box of shit seems appropriate, since that's all he ever gave us.
I'm great at multi-tasking. I can waste time, be unproductive, and procrastinate all at the same time.
You got yours gift-wrapped?
You got yours gift-wrapped? You lower-percentage 1%-er, you!

A pair of comfy shoes to replace the ones he lost on his way to Madison. They are washable, so he can cleanse the crap they picked up when I deposited them up his dorsal port.
