anyone else. In addition to the LP shown, there's the 3 CD box of the commercial recordings Jack made. Kerouac was excellent at reading his own writing and I recommend his collaboration with Steve Allen.
In addition to having jack Kerouac on his tv show, Steve Allen also gave air time to Lenny Bruce.

info on Keroac and Steve Allen. One would expect Allen, a Jazz dude, to be a good fit for and appreciative of the beats and their rhythms and cadences, which, to my mind, includes Lenny and Mort too.

Manzarek put out two albums of Ray backing Michael as he read. It's good. Manzarek is more of an equal partner than Steve Allen was for Jack and it works well.

Have a great Kwanzaa. Cloudy and warm here. Here's Doc with "Windy and Warm"

I've never learned the words, but I enjoy playing "Good King Wenceslas". I read somewhere the tune can be dated back to 600 AD, but the only reference I find this AM puts it in the 1200s.

Based from the spring carol entitled Tempus adest floridum dating back to the thirteenth century, the tune of the song has captured the hearts of many due to its intricacy. The lyrics for the song tribute to the famed King were written by John Mason Neale, an English hymn writer, during the 1850’s.

Well it's Monday all day long. Do your best to enjoy it!

Here's a little Steve Earle for the season...

https://youtu.be/f0CAIx1cmUg

Once upon a time, in a far off land
Wise men saw a sign and set out aross the sand
Songs of praise to sing, they travelled day and night
Precious gifts to bring, guided by the light

They chased a brand new star, ever towards the west
Across the mountains far, but when it came to rest
They scarce believed their eyes, they'd come so many miles
And this miracle they prized was nothing but a child

Nothing but a child could wash those tears away
Or guide a weary world into the light of day
And nothing but a child could help erase those miles
So once again we all can be children for awhile

Now all around the world, in every little town
Everyday is heard a precious little sound
And every mother kind and every father proud
Looks down in awe to find another chance allowed

Nothing but a child could wash those tears away
Or guide a weary world into the light of day
And nothing but a child could help erase those miles
So once again we all can be children for awhile

Nothing but a child

to do with the picture montage or the religious theme. It was the best You Tube I could get my hands on.

He's one of the type of musicians who either dies or gets cleaned up. Thankfully he cleaned up and we have some great music because of his success.

He's also responsible for this nugget (Christmas Time in Washington):

My favorite version is his Norway concert. His speech about peace prior to singing the song, is priceless.

are still closed. But I did get a 20lb bag of CaCl to spread hither and yon over my ice rink driveway. The most exciting part of the drive being the last 900 feet, some on glare ice. The car did some drifts and at the last microsecond before a tire hit the snowbank traction was restored. I am glad I know where the curves are. No car or tree was harmed. I think I have some crampons somewhere...I feel safer driving than walking.

Spit in a tube and extracted my DNA for 23andme. I am registered an filled out their 15 min health questionnaire. All for science. They did not inquire what my PhD was in, but did ask about my parents' highest education attained. Typical faculty brat here. There may be additional surveys later.

Phil Spector's Wall of Sound recording technique was considered very innovative at the time.

Hi Ho Steverino! I remember Steve Allen had a greyhound that he named Steverino after himself. He was a prolific talent in multiple genres.

Some good walks down memory lane this morning of Kwanzaa celebration. Thanks EL.

his recordings are so distinctive you can't help but notice "it's a Phil Spector production" and then you think about the guy and then you have to compartmentalize and think only of the music...but sometimes that's hard to do.

Thanks for the music and numbers EL. To some? A murderous pig asshole to me. I do like his Christmas album. But I was so much younger then and had no idea what he was about. I just looked at his discography and it's amazing no wonder many artist's I admire wanted him to produce their work. His single's are some of the best hits from the late 50's early 60's.

I bought Shah a compilation packaged in a spiffy hat box that was filled songs by the girl groups for Christmas several years ago. He loves the Brill Building songwriters of this era. One good thing about being married to a pop musician is I've learned the history of popular music from way back. Hope you all are having a good middle of winter holiday. So who was St. Stephen? Was he a Celt?

Here's another version of a famous Ronette song by a group I like a lot. While producing the Ramones album End of the Century Phil Specter pulled out his gun and waved it around but Dee Dee said It's not like he held us hostage or anything.

Some great tunes by Phil the psycho...Once again how do you separate the artist from the work they do? Cellini comes to mind or that well known murderer Carriagio

My first name, and according to two previous bosses, why they thought I'd "be Black". I believe it's why I get so little contact after sending out resumes. Add racism to sexism in the IT field - they're probably afraid I'm an uppity Black woman, when I'm just me, at times, an uppity white woman, I suppose.

I refuse to change or lie about my name so I can be hired by a racist, sexist f*ckhead.

Sorry for the off topic rant

It seems like I once read where Phil Spector fell in love with Ronnie's voice and that is why he married her. She was lucky to escape him before he got really psycho.
