Friday Night Photos.
Submitted by Bollox Ref on Fri, 12/16/2016 - 6:15pm
We're expecting 8" of snow tonight, so here's a shot of Bollox Minor 'helping' to shovel from a few years ago.
A shot to keep us going through these dark, winter months...
Cattle partaking of the water of Old Father Thames, not far from my parents' house.
I'll be on shovelling duty, but if you have photos to post..........
Cheers and Happy Christmas!

I didn't post these, from Dec 5th
No snow...

GREAT Tufted Titmouse and
GREAT Tufted Titmouse and Cardinal photos!
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

I didn't think I would get any more shots from my window
The window I shoot through decided to fog up as soon as the weather turned colder. These were the first shots I tried through the fog. The Dehaze slider in Lightroom is amazing...

Tit=Titaas=Small in Norwegian
Beautiful bird shots. I learned a couple of weeks ago that the titillating names for Tits and Titmice, or is that Titmouses, comes from the word titaas which means little or small in Norwegian. As a Tarheel transplant I miss the beautiful redbirds.
27 at 9:00 PM PT and clear with a forecast low of 22. Winter finally has some bite and the heat is working harder tonight. Electricity courtesy of the mighty Columbia River. 4 inches of snow last Friday which was the first measurable in 3 winters here at sea level. Light snow expected next week. It's hard to predict here.
From last Saturday, we've had snow ever since...

Who's the little blue guy above?

We had a dump of snow last weekend.......... so another dump this weekend.... and then -20F temps.
The car will not be happy.

The Grey bird
Is a Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor). Cousins of the Chickadee and Tit.

We have Tufted Titmouses in our yard too
They are shy. I love their eyes. Today a falcon came to our feeder and ate someone. I think it was one of the golden crowned sparrows from Vancouver. So I put up an obstacle course with tall things that I stuck in the soft and thankfully rain drenched ground. (We are already close to 80% rainfall for the year.)

They may be a bit more shy than a chickadee
But they will feed from your hand like a chickadee or nuthatch.
We had an accipiter hanging around the yard a while back. I haven't seen it for a while, so I think the crows chased it away.

That's quite a waterfall, Magiamma!
Reminds me a little of Minnehaha Falls.

It's up the Columbia Gorge
We snowshoed in about two miles. Well worth it.
edit: It totally looks like Minnehaha Falls.

I took these photos of the full moon without using a
tripod just to see how they'd turn out. I knew that they wouldn't be in focus but I like the unusual effects.
This was my attempt at capturing the lunar eclipse. I wish I had a tele extender

Snoopydawg...
I really like the second shot.
Must be the clouds, etc.

Thanks, Bollox
This is more like what I was seeing and if I had used the tripod the pictures would have come out better, but it was after 1am and I was tired.
I kept hoping that the clouds would arrange like that the next night and I'd try again, but of course a storm came in.
The photo doesn't capture how incredible the scene was and now I wish I had used the tripod.

How do you post a photo?
There are several ways
You can upload the file here, and it will be automatically resized..
Click the insert image button then the browse button. After the UI loads on the file browser you can select the Upload button. Photos uploaded that way will be automatically resized to a maximum width of 500 pixels.
Or you can use an external host. I use Flickr and use the share button. I use the embed option and a size of 640x4xx.

It ain't easy
there is a little blue word under the post saying insert image. That takes you to a seemingly endless extraction of files. Once that has stopped, it's possible to upload your image. Then you can post it in your comment. Hope this helps.

Thanxs everyone
