60 Minutes Election Focus Group Goes Foobar
Submitted by Citizen Of Earth on Mon, 11/07/2016 - 6:19am
And now for these public service messages.
If you want a laugh, go watch the Election Focus Group they ran on 60 Minutes last night. Frank Luntz said he has been doing these for 30 years and has never seen anywhere near this level of anger and disillusionment.
Turns out most people don't like either candidate and man are they pissssssssssed. And as pissed as all these people are, they don't seem to know that considering a third party is an option.

Frank Luntz.
This bastard wants me to believe he can't understand why the Frankenstein's monster he helped create is rampaging. Contract On America? Luntz. "Death tax" instead of estate tax? Luntz. Make the word "liberal" sound like you're saying "child molester"? Luntz.
It's harvest time Mr. Luntz. And the seeds were sown by you.
"Just call me Hillbilly Dem(exit)."

Yeah Lunz's shock at the results seems clueless.
Almost like it's the people fault that they can't control their emotions. Like these are afterall two perfectly reasonable candidates that just happen to have a few human flaws. I laughed when he lost control and walked away in disgust. Hahahahaha.
Donnie The #ShitHole Douchebag. Fake Friend to the Working Class. Real Asshole.
When he blames the media, . . .
. . . saying they're a large part of why people are angry, he's pointing to those that he -- Luntz -- made a career of manipulating, who lapped up every twisted bit of branding he created for them to swallow. He leaves his own agency out of it, but he's also right that the media deserve as much blame as anyone, for swallowing, with gusto.
yep. and he Expects them

The purpose of this entire segment is to force the narrative
that Hillary should be protected from any accountability for cheating.
No, I do not want Trump to bow down and unify. I want him to tear it all down. And I didn't even vote for him.
At this point, pre-Game Day
I find it oddly encouraging that all are disgusted with the Option A, Option B served up. If only they would allow themselves to consider C and D!
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
Hahha. That was my big take away too
GOOD! Nobody likes either of these two Bastard/Bitch candidates. Unfortunately they don't appear to be smart enough to help themselves by going third party.
I went for a haircut this week. The two nice ladies who run the salon are both Trump supporters mostly because they hate Hillary. I told them I was voting for Green party and were surprised that the Green candidate was a woman. The MSM has done a good job of obscuring the options for their viewers.
Donnie The #ShitHole Douchebag. Fake Friend to the Working Class. Real Asshole.
I can tell you
from just having spent a week with in-laws in southern Indiana, that everyone I talked to there is disgusted, too. (These are usually reliably red voters, but they're embarrassed by Trump and still hate Hillary). Around town, there were a few Trump lawn signs among the local candidates' -- and nothing else.
Sadly, you're also right about the MSM obscuring other options, because most of the same people said their solution would be to not vote for the top of the ticket. One said, "I'm voting for VP, not president." (Which doesn't help).
Watched the 60 Minutes segment last night, and aside from laughing, I kept thinking: "Didn't anyone tell Luntz to straighten his belt?!"
I don't think Luntz can see his belt
;-).
Donnie The #ShitHole Douchebag. Fake Friend to the Working Class. Real Asshole.
"I'm voting for VP, not president." Heard same story told...
RW Christian zealots will justify anything under the sun in support of anyone who professes to be anti-abortion and/or to having a "personal relationship with Jesus."
Friend just told me the story of his fundamentalist brother who doesn't like Trump necessarily. But says he's "voting for the VP."
Luntz is one sinister psy-ops freak. He creates all the poisonous catch phrases the RW use to control and manipulate their base. "Death panels," "debt ceiling," "anchor babies" "entitlements" and any other slogan we've heard in the past two decades are written up as memos and given to douchebags like Hannity, O'Reilly and the whole of Fox News, who pump them out and into the mainstream vernacular. Mission Accomplished. Goebbels in the modern day.
In this instance however the factual reality could not be ignored. Everyone thinks this election is a complete and total SHAM. I guess they deserve some credit for allowing that truth to be spoken. But of course not without putting a coda on this tv entertainment segment that fulfills his and CBS's duty to run interference and protection for their masters: we must accept the results!
No matter what happens tomorrow the restlessness, anger and malaise will be ever present in the days and weeks and months and years to come, and will only increase. On the upside there's a great opportunity to coalesce the 99% who aren't going to be buying into the false Red/Blue, Dem/Rep paradigm for much longer.
I think this election season broke some things out in the open for all to see which had previously only been manifested as apathy toward a system they knew was rigged but could not prove it. The proof is there this year. The apathy has turned to anger. How to channel that anger into a movement....
"If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph:

- Kurt Vonnegut
This was not about taking the pulse
of public opinion. It was just more of the same propaganda we've been overfed since Bernie didn't exist, and Trump was the only GOP candidate. But this time rather than selling us Hillary, it's meant to make us accept the results that the oligarch pre-ordained long ago. CBS either screened participants to exclude anyone included to vote 3rd party, or they edited out any unflattering truths about the 2-party system and/or about the process. They would sooner cut off their noses than provide a platform for someone inclined to stir us "to mutiny and rage."
Exactly correct. And exactly the message of "orderly and
peaceful transition for this election" we're hearing from the videos from Steve Pieczenik (peacenik? hard to deny the possibility that the spooks are goofing on us): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ_CYS-KMjM
"We've got this thing, no need to worry, ladies and gents. So keep calm and carry on, no getting ugly, y'hear?"
The PTB may be a teensy bit worried that this election will ignite the country's volatile sentiments and force the show of force they'd rather not be obliged to unveil for Americans who don't yet see the full picture of oligarchs, elites, and the rigged system.
Conclusion: a highly manipulated piece that excluded rejection of the duopoly by excluding third-party voters and pushed acceptance of the Nov. 8 outcome. Obvious, much?

If only
Third Parties don't work.
Except to bork candidate A or B. The Greens never will be a party of more than 10%. Ten percent is big, enough to determine outcomes, but it won't win you any elections. It's just a line on the ballot for a "protest vote." I was gonna vote Green here for the first time, throw them a bone, 'cuz Hillary has NY in the bag (her vote rigging apparatus still in place from the primary), but gonna vote for the Trumpster instead. Just another protest vote.

If I lived anywhere but Vermont
I'd be voting Trump as well. Much as typing that makes me vomit.
Thank you for the sacrifice.
I understand; I lived in VT for a while. I thought about
voting for Trump, whom I regard as the lesser evil, but I couldn't come close to doing it. I decided early in the primary season that I'd never again vote lesser evil, never again vote purely AGAINST anyone, only for. And that left me with one candidate who speaks for me, a candidate I'm grateful has given a chunk of her life to give me an alternative to the D and R candidates for prez, who are both unfit for office. Thank you, Jill Stein. #ImWithDrHer
"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." --Jiddu Krishnamurti
If I could be bothered to vote
I might be tempted to vote Trump in the hope that Hillary would lose at least Staten Island.
Before anyone judges the not voting, I cannot walk the one mile (uphill both ways) to the voting place anymore and I will be damned if I spend $20 from my tiny SS check to play a role in this farce.

I don't care that you aren't
I don't care that you aren't voting. I wonder why I am voting at all at this point. But check for rides. Uber in PA is offering free rides to polling places for example. So you may have a free option.
Uber is what I would be using
I haven't heard anything. The driver I most often used is a Muammar Gadaffi admirer. I am almost tempted to arrange a ride and talk about Killary with him.
Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur.
Are African-Americans really going to vote for the candidate
who destroyed Africa’s strongest economy, whose leader had envisioned a genuinely powerful and effective African Union, in which Black Africa and Arab North Africa had each other’s back instead of letting the West play them off against each other?
Probably
I don't know about my driver, as he's not African-American. As for blacks, probably. Most people don't know about these issues, they hear Gaddafi=terrorist, had it coming, he was going to kill his own people. That is, if they even remember and recognize the name. Also, most voters don't really care about other countries, that's why so many so called feminists can say with a straight face how good Hillary is for women.
Just now I got a message about how John Lewis got his head cracked so I should go vote. And I appreciate what he did, don't get me wrong, but I would appreciated him more when I didn't know how far he was willing to go as the Clintons' bitch.
Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur.
The current ruling party in Greece was polling at 4%
just a few years ago. Greeks finally got sick of the bullshit and voted the old corrupt party out. Too bad Greece had to go bankrupt before the people woke the fuck up.
But ok, a third party will never win? We'll see what it takes for that to happen.
Donnie The #ShitHole Douchebag. Fake Friend to the Working Class. Real Asshole.
For the Greens to
emerge from anything but a fringe (protest vote) party, one of the two major parties has to substantially decline. Becuz a third party has never worked here (and likely never will). And, since the Greens lean Left that would have to be the Dem party that would need to decline. Some say it already has, and i don't argue that it is in decline, but salvageable. Have the Greens even ever elected a candidate to a statewide office? Didn't think so. That's not to say they're irrelevant. Just Very unlikely to win against the two majors.
the little things you can do are more valuable than the giant things you can't! - @thanatokephaloides. On Twitter @wink1radio. (-2.1) All about building progressive media.
I don't disagree with you on the Greens
I do disagree with you on the Dems being salvageable. Now that they openly steal primaries, I think they've proved they aren't.
The Greens are a placeholder for me right now.
Tell it to Abraham Lincoln-
and the Republican Party.
It's always been pretty much a two party system.
The names of the parties changed through the years, but we've always had two opposing parties.
Ok, maybe not 3rd party
But your example shows a realignment & movement to 2 different parties.
If Jill Stein was allowed to be part of debates this wouldn't be
happening. people think they only have 2 choices. It's pathetic. So ignorant and Luntz plays right along being the douche bag he is.

How does that fix anything? How does that help the country come back from corruption?
It doesn’t. It just proves that crime pays, like in 2000. It rewards the worst thing you can do in a supposed democracy. It enables the one kind of crime — robbing the people of their say through direct cheating and fraud — that makes the whole label and concept of “democracy” meaningless.

How can you be for a candidate who got to be the candidate by dishonest methods? If the whole process started by corruption the outcome can only be corrupted. Like a court case, if you can out one "lie" then the whole testimony can be nullified. No wonder Luntz makes the big bucks. He's
got some world-class sophistry at work here. Notice how notion of the result actually being illegitimate was dismissed out of hand. This is the media softening us up for a redux of 2000. I'm not having it.
Luntz was dumber than the focus group.
Say words that will unite. Ha!!! The only words I can think of is that the Clintons were indicted. For that group of people to sit there and say the election isnt rigged, no wonder we have the government we do.
I can't believe that I believe that the only way to heal this nation is to destroy it and start all over. We are so FUBAR, there is no repair. The best we can hope for is that we can at least stop the global infection and empire building so that there is still some place left to escape to.

I didn't make it to the end--
the focus group believes it *wasn't* rigged? Some of them were saying it was, in the beginning. Later, sounded like there was an argument amongst them on the subject.

Luntz focus on "words"
The "losing" candidate should say to "unite us" struck me as essentially asking what LIE has the losing candidate gotta come up with to keep the people from picking up the pitchforks and coming after his ass and the rest of those ratfuckers is pretty much the takeaway as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah, count me in as someone who is so angry at the media and every other institution whose reason for existence is to safeguard the Republic but who caved into the corruption that the only thing I want to hear the day after Election Day is that Hillary is the losing candidate.

They think it is throwing their vote away.
They are obsessed with herd mentality. They MUST vote for the winner, the one the rest of the herd wants. Elections become a game of guessing the winner so you can vote for the winner. That's why we have all those crazy dress fads and movie fads and music fads. No one wants to be outside the herd.

Why no third party? Doesn't fit the template.
We've seen various media organizations recast as "undecided" voters who say they're voting third party. This group included alleged undecideds.
Just statistically, the group probably had at least one definitely-decided third-party leaner, but 60 Minutes is not interested in giving that option any legitimacy by being honest about what it's reporting on.

" “Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough.” FDR "
