CNN (insert Lily Tomlin quote)

No, I can't keep up. It's not possible, is it, that I am watching a panel on Wolf Blitzer discussing Comey's latest letter and a member of the panel, David Gregory, is simply identified as "CNN Political Analyst" without any mention that he just happens to be the husband of a lead attorney for Clinton in this whole fiasco? He's the husband of a MAJOR PLAYER and he's acting like some impartial analyst?

If it is true that they are having him participate without disclosing his personal interest in the discussion I absolutely positively swear that I will block CNN from my TV forever so that I don't inadvertently bump into it.

I hope that I missed the disclosure, but if I didn't this is why the American public should have no confidence whatsoever in the information they receive from the corporate media.

(I rarely watch CNN anyway, but happened to stumble upon this.)

A couple of large vats of wine should help.

For the dolts that soak up cable news, Comey, in his 'wisdom', just issued Clinton a much needed 'It's a Nothingburger' card.

The Privilege of Hillary Clinton Voters

SNIP

The status quo is serving many people poorly. Proclaiming that, because the alternative is “worse,” everyone must vote for Clinton - a politician who has championed policies that have actively harmed millions of people both here and around the world - is, at its very best, patronizing to those who are currently suffering. It’s a promise of crumbs instead of a meal with the admonition that starving people better be thankful for crumbs, as the other candidate might take even those away.

This rationale plays on the fears of disadvantaged people and those who care about them in order to perpetuate current power dynamics. Its use is in many ways an expression of the very privilege it critiques.

Third-Party Critics Misconstrue Privilege Dynamics

Privilege is a multi-dimensional concept, and very few people can claim to speak for the most downtrodden in society. Individuals writing widely read articles about the privilege of third-party voters aren’t refugees from Central America who President Obama is currently deporting - with Clinton’s support, until recently. They aren’t incarcerated for marijuana possession or sitting on death row, likely to stay locked up or sentenced to die if Clinton becomes president. They aren’t living under Israeli occupation, or in deep poverty, or afraid of being obliterated by a drone strike, with little hope for change under the specter of a Clinton presidency. As Morgana Visser recently noted, “many marginalized people are rightfully horrified of Hillary Clinton,” and those accusing nonvoters and third-party voters of privileged indifference to the plight of others have the privilege themselves not to be so marginalized that four, or eight, or indefinitely many more years of incremental change to the status quo is intolerable to them.

The thing is, the argument that the Democrats are the only actual alternative voters have to Trump - that the status quo cannot be radically improved and that incremental change is all that is possible - is one that many people cannot afford. Those of us voting for Stein seek to challenge this thinking, to fight for a world in which the most marginalized people are not consigned to deportation, lifetime imprisonment, poverty, or death at the hands of Democrats who are better than Republicans but not nearly good enough. Third-party voting and abstaining from the presidential election altogether are strategies designed to either change the Democratic Party or create an alternative in a political system that has failed disadvantaged populations for decades, as Sebastian Castro points out.

People have short memories about the damage that the first Clinton terms did to the people in this country.
Welfare reform from the 90's is still affecting people today. Because of the rules written in it, last June there were thousands of people who had the women and children in them who were kicked off the food stamp program.
And millions more families with women and children in them are unable to take advantage of many social programs including public housing if anyone in their family has a felony record. In addition, billions of dollars were cut from those programs so Clinton could allocate money to cope and prisons.
I have stated I recently received a housing voucher, but the most tent money I could spend was $550. I'm sure people can imagine what type of dwelling i would have to live in.
Millions of people lost their homes and pensions because Bill worked with Newt to deregulate the banks and other financial institutions.
Then as in your first comment, white privelage assholes don't ever bother to think about the millions of innocent people in the Middle East who are either dead or are refugees living in extreme poverty and basically prison camps.
Her reaction to Gaddafi's death shows that she doesn't have an ounce of remorse after her policies destroyed people lives and countries.
And she is shouting out to the world that she is willing to risk a war with Russia so that her friends in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other countries can get the Syrian resources that Assad denied them.
I know what Trump has said he would do, but I know what Hillary has done.
She is a threat to humanity. Period.

danger if Hillary wins. She is already talking to the people from Obama's cat food commission about dismantling the program by either privatizing it or cutting benefits. There have been many articles about her plans for it and Bill was in the process of privatizing it, but fortunately for us the Monica Lewinsky scandal saved us from it happening.
Hillary has the same people on her staff that were on his. And they have been trying to dismantle it since it was formed.
Too many people are barely surviving on those programs now. Imagine a 5-10% cut in them.
And for what reason do they want people to live in even more poverty? I can't imagine how people can be that callous, but these are the same people who don't care how many innocent people get killed during their wars for the corporations.
Most of these people spend more money in one day then many people get in one month.

My kid turned 17 between 15th of December, and 31st. No "child" tax credit for me/us last year.

You're very smart; so, I'm asking you. I was pissed when I was told that since my minor child was no longer considered a child for "all" tax purposes, only "some" of them. Plus, to "be eligible" for financial aid, he "HAD TO" register for the fucking draft.

Also, I earn so little, he qualifies for CHIP; however, will he still get CHIP after he turns 18 in December, even though he won't graduate from high school, until at least late May, if not early June?

Grrrrr!

And this will be how they bring back the military draft, in which girls/woman are now included, without involving the children of the wealthy - therefore not requiring any financial assistance.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

Turn that shit off! Block CNN, MSNBC, all of them. Television news is a cesspool best to not be stepped in.
There are so many reputable sites that you can go too. Most of them get their news form online sites anyways.

Because I read A LOT and follow news online and read as many sources as I can, both left and right and in-between, that's how I happen to be aware of the fact that David Gregory is married to Clinton lawyer Beth Wilkinson and that he can hardly be considered an impartial commentator since part of his family income probably derives from the Clinton campaign.

My concern is directed for all the people who aren't aware of the interconnectedness and think David Gregory is some kind of impartial observer/commenter. CNN putting him on this panel is unconscionable.

Ha! Ha! I noticed that when they check back with the panel he is now missing. I doubt I was the only person to take note of this. And they wonder why people no longer have trust in the media.

So, it's not surprising they are hiding the fact that their little analyst suckles from the Clinton Crime Family mammary gland. Remember how they called the primary before Cali had even been counted, AND said they would call it before Cali even voted?

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong because I never heard it myself since I make less than $24k and barely afford meds and food, certainly not cable.)

It's not a matter of if you can afford cable. The real question is: Do you need it?
Nobody needs it. Like christmas, it's something people spend money on even though it is unnecessary.

So, even if I could afford cable (satellite out here), I wouldn't.

Haven't paid for it since back in the day when we had a box remote control, tethered to the TV via a cord, and you could punch down the button for the channel. There were about 10-12 channels lol. MTV actually played music videos!

Someone actually swapped my cable, at the box, and stole my service, way back then. Bastids!

I haven't owned a TV except to play DVDs since some time in the late seventies or early eighties. I used to read newspapers when we had them and then I moved to the internet and learned how to maneuver from site to site to find information from people or organizations I trusted. I'll be 81 in a few days and I just had a conversation with a woman older than me who is originally from North Dakota who had not heard of the DAPL wars. She watches TV but doesn't have internet. When I explained what was going on in NDak and about the news available via the internet, she was surprised and interested. Interested enough that I will be talking to her and one of her friends here who does have internet to see if I can set them up to find sites like Common Dreams, Counterpunch, etc., and, of course, C99. It's never too late to learn nor to subvert the dominant paradigm. I hope this isn't some sort of thread jack. It just seemed to fit with what you're saying.

per this item in The Daily Mail - Wikileaks dump of over 8,000 emails shows DNC prepared Wolf Blitzer and Jake Tapperfor interviews with Cruz and Trump

If I still had the capacity for surprise I would be surprised. No wait, there is still a little flutter of amazement alive in my deadened synapses - Dana Milbank gets help to write his banal drivel? He is cribbing from the DNC? That explains it - I always thought he had too much lack of talent for just one man.
