Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.
~Desmond Tutu~
Awake?
During the past week, I have received robocalls from Ivanka Trump, Jerry Falwell Jr. and The NRA. I don't no why the funk they would call me. I am not amiable to their overtures. It is time to get this farce election over. It sure is agitating to observe.
I see the light. I am pretty sure it is an on coming train.
My local situation keeps me from coming around C99 much, or putting a whole lot of effort into the Friday Open Thread. I have to say that a quick perusal of goings on exhibits some angst and despair. I have chosen to check out. All politics is local and my order of magnitude is square footage. As long as there is coffee, pastry and appetite enhancer, it is all good.
I really do not need additional reporting on the candidates to know it is misère.
The political cacophony makes it clear that no matter who is elected, more of the same. Mankind is on course to precipitate its own extinction. The worship of wealth and power means that the wealthy and powerful shall exploit the less fortunate right into the ground. Except for me, I am being thrown in the river. The human condition is in decline.
What shall we do? Go down?
Just sayin'!
Have a great weekend!

I am awake, Tim
Are appetite enhancers something to guess? All I got were sadknowingloving nurse-eyes. I drank.
Thinking last night in bed: seule gets more familiar, others always questioning me ' are you alone?' It's usually women in that situation, so you may be doing your own walk away. And males get leeway, extra pillow. You can plow through. But you are in a nightmare. Sweetie more, I am so sorry, which means nothing.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
Appetite enhancers
Are derived from vegetable matter. I am alone, even when other people are around. The situation is unfavorable, but I am content that I am doing things my way. I wish I would have had the same degree of self confidence when I was younger.

Virtual handhold and hug
I am happy you have music. I cannot imagine how she feels. Screaming all the time now?
That was blunt. But I hated the tiptoeing myself.

"White collared conservative, flashing down the street."
Thanks for a version I hadn't heard before, Tim. Hope that your location in the super-critical state of North Carolina in this, the most important election in this sector of the galaxy since the Big Bang, doesn't get any more annoying for Sweetie and you with the calls, ads and knocks on the door.
It's pretty annoying here in Ohio too. The Queen-in-Waiting (or maybe not), complete with plastic finger, stopped by for lunch a few blocks down the street earlier this week. In 2012, Biden came by for lunch on election day at a place just around the corner.
Maybe both of them should have come by the Chinese restaurant/bar at the end of the block some night around 1 AM or so. Then they might learn something about what we have to put up with in this neighborhood they view as a photo op. We've had two big gunfights that started there this year, complete with AK-47s and dead bodies. It's not people in the neighborhood doing the shooting. We're just doing the dodging. And the city is too busy to even take their liquor license away.
Heh
We did curbside voting. Unfortunately, the choices were middling. It looks like we will ditch the governor, the gerrymandering is too egregious to change the legislature, either state or national. Most people are not aware enough to know that our most important races are probable attorney general and state supreme court. The R candidates are particularly odious.
It is time to do something about the ubiquity of guns. Why do I have to register and insure my car, but guns are a free for all?
Charlie Hunter and Stanton Moore are musical freaks. Charlie plays an eight string guitar, and plays the melody and bass line at the same time.

Half awake, needing more cawffee, less tawk.
So, I am hiding out for a while.
If this post is an example of not putting in any effort, I am envious. Not envious in the sense that I begrudge you your abilities, or wish you did not have them, but in the sense that I want some of them, too. It's a marvelous post with neat allusions and segues and great music. Thank you. (Please stop putting yourself down!) You know, you could just say "Hi. I'm not up to this today. Just tell me how much you wish me well" and we would. Happily.
I am sorry life is so hard for you and Sweetie right now and that sucks. I wish I could do something useful about that. Or that anyone could.
I haven't heard from Ivanka or the rest of your pals. But Sheila wants me to have solar panels so much she called three times yesterday alone. She must be worried about my energy bills, which is really considerate.
Another woman, whose name is currently Bridget, though it used to be something else, assures me there's no problem with my credit card. She's so worried about my paying high interest rates on my credit card balance that she's taken to calling me every day, just to offer me a loan. Sometimes twice a day. What a pal, that gal!
A guy whose accent I can't place calls maybe once a month from Microsoft to warn me that Microsoft found a virus on my computer and he can fix it. Sweet!
Someone else calls every couple of weeks to inform me I won a free trip somewhere and it's my last chance to claim it, even though I've not entered any contests or had any first chances to claim the trip.
How lucky can one person possibly be? I know these can't be sales calls because I put my name and number on a list which, in my state, means calling that number for sales calls would be illegal. And they can't be scams because what confidence artists would be so genuinely concerned about us and our computers?
'
When I count my blessings on Thanksgiving, Sheila, Bridget and the rest will definitely be on the list. Meanwhile, I probably should get rid of my land line.
Off to make some coffee, a substance for which I am also very grateful.
One better
I had a piece of apple pie with my coffee.
I would love to put solar panels onto my roof. Our legislature passed a right wing think tank bill saying that the utility does not have to buy individuals excess electricity, so instead of putting it onto the grid it would have to be converted to DC and stored in a battery. That is how beholden to the current energy companies out politicians are.
I usually try to operate on several levels. It makes it easier to discern the thinkers.
This AM's music is caffeinated.

I'll ask Sheila to ping you.
Latest Dem Tactic: Fake docs found!! Don't trust any of them!!
Just saw this today on MSN.
FBI examining fake documents targeting Clinton campaign: sources
So here's the scam.
Dem Senator Tom Carper says he found a document that uses his letterhead and makes false claims. He says he did not write the document.
That's the key. This document was probably planted on social media by someone to provide a convenient excuse shed doubt on all the wikileaks emails.
So the inference is if they found one fake document, How Can We Trust Any Document.
Such horse shit. Keep shoveling Hellery.

Hey I really like the Chris Duarte video. Hot licks there.

Me too
The CD song is from his first album, which I think is his best. CD went through some substance abuse and his work suffered. We saw him in a little Pittsburgh bar, ~20 years ago. It was terrific.

Hoping for closure
I want the election to be over - I'm prepared for horrid...I just want to know which horrid one. My fear is the 4-4 court could make a lawsuit last forever. I would rather just take our medicine...it all tastes bad.
We know, no matter what, gridlock will be the name of the game...
All the best to you and Sweetie!

Doesn’t a tied Supreme Court mean the appeal fails, though?
If the Supreme Court had tied in 2000, the Florida recount would have proceeded — “Brook Brothers riot” or no.
Good morning Tim
We are having glorious 60/70 degree weather in Michigan in November. Now if we could just get this shitty election over with....
Hugs to you and sweetie. I look forward to weekly visits.

Enjoy Autumn
There are predictions for polar vortex this winter. The weather extremes are a product of the increased differential between the warm air mass and cold air mass causing acceleration of the jet stream resulting in an increased amplitude of the undulation of the jet stream.

Denver has yet to see its first snowflake,
with temps hanging in the 70s and 80s by day and barely making it down to the 40s at night. Average first snow is October 19, according to the historical record... We had one hard frost that finished off the garden, but other than that, it is still September- and the 10-day forecast shows this trend continuing through mid November. Dry as a bone for weeks now- no precip, no cold, no snow. Nada. Severe clear, not that I'm really complaining...
When winter finally hits, I suspect that it is going to be a doozy. One of the hallmarks of global warming is increased *chaos* in the weather patterns, and we're seeing that in spades, I think.
The best thing that ever happens for the ski areas is for there to be a televised Broncos game at Mile High with snow falling during the game- the bookings increase by a significant factor the day after such a thing. They're making snow as fast as they can go in the high country, but we're just not seeing winter show up yet... Serviced the snowblower, and now we wait.
Play it, Stevie! You are missed...
Not to worry
It's funking coming.

Hang in there, Tim!
You have a very tough row to hoe, and there are a lot of us out here who have just about infinite respect for your efforts and tenacity.
Here's a complete rarity to add to the music- Zorro and the Blue Footballs, featuring the late Windy Austin, doing "Everybody Eats When They Come To My House". They were a mainstay of the Fayetteville, Arkansas music scene in the 70s, and never received the recognition that they deserved. This is a version that you very likely have never heard.
This was apparently recorded in about 1980 in Tulsa, which is sad: it really should have been recorded at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville to *really* capture the feel...
Thanks!

Early voted for Stein last night (FL)
I did not vote for a single candidate from either major party. I've never voted for a republican, but I think this is the first time I couldn't vote for a single Dem on my ballot. My federal choices were Stephanie Murphy, Patrick Murphy, and Hillary Clinton. No, noer, noest.
half-hour phone convo with daughter coming back from SYR
and a vaginal ultrasound from the fertility clinic there. She is a seller, not a buyer. But there IS a buyer for her eggs so two weeks of bizarre for her. Next week I will accompany for egg collection, done from the ovaries through fallopian tubes. Ponder that.
She told me Never again. Her nurse-cohort has done two egg collections, for the same family. Handmaid's Tale IRL.
Payoff is $4K. Tuition bucks for her.

Hey Tim, good to see ya. Look at the bright side,
4 more days and the election will be over, then maybe 1 week of recriminations, incriminations, blaming, shouting, pissing and moaning about the election and the news will finally shift. Try not to think about what siad news will probably shift to and you'll be just fine. Well, maybe not fine, but we will survive ...
