Remember When Hillary Claimed Bernie Said she Was Shouting?

Here's how that went down in Clintonworld...

From The Daily Caller:

Clinton Camp Knew The Whole ‘Saying I’m Shouting Is Sexist’ Line Was Bulls**t, WikiLeaks Shows

One of Hillary Clinton’s favorite lines of attack in the Democratic primary was to claim that “when a woman speaks out, some people think it’s shouting.”

The former secretary of state repeatedly used the construction to attack Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley in the weeks after the first Democratic debate, yet a new email published by WikiLeaks on Friday shows that Clinton’s own campaign realized the attacks were not entirely fair.

This is a complicated line to follow, but it goes loosely like this: The campaign was considering what Bernie had said about guns/gun violence and they were wanting to show contrast. But Bernie's version was pretty good, so they couldn't really best it. Instead, they made crap up - it's just a red herring. It's explained pretty well in The Daily Caller. They jumped to a distraction making a claim they knew to be false and did not care because it gave her a successful blow against Sanders.

Here's the email in question. Remember that it's a thread, so the old parts are at the bottom.

I guess the most striking thing to me about it is to see how good Clinton is as an actress - she delivered the lines written for her perfectly.

This is Mika covering this topic last fall:

Here's pushback on Slate:

Hillary Clinton Is Smearing Bernie Sanders as a Sexist

Hillary Clinton has found a new wedge issue against Sen. Bernie Sanders. The topic is gun control, but the angle is gender. Clinton is framing Sanders as a sexist who accuses women of shouting when they try to speak up. It’s a lie. She’s manipulating women and abusing feminist anger for her own advantage.

It’s great that we’re more aware of bigotry than we used to be. But we should also beware false claims of bigotry: the race card, the sex card, the homophobia card. In 1991, Clarence Thomas, a well-connected federal judge, evaded sexual harassment allegations and won confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court by accusing his interrogators of a “high-tech lynching for uppity blacks.” Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, says anyone who advocates a boycott of his country “should be treated exactly as we treat any anti-Semite or bigot.” Sexism, racism, and anti-Semitism are real. But sometimes they’re fabricated.

Do I need to point out that while he was not on this email thread, that the common denominator between the campaign to get Thomas on the bench and the one to get Hillary in the White House is David Brock?

Here's the hard-hitting NPR analysis:

Is It Fair To Accuse Bernie Sanders Of Sexism?

You can click-through if interested - I find it embarrassing since they just magnify the message rather than take it apart. They end up heaping additional taint on the Bernie campaign. Nice going in terms of objectivity.

I reluctantly decided to vote for Jill Stein. As a former Bernie supporter, with all the toxic baggage that goes along with it (racist, sexist, misogynist, privileged elitist, basement dweller, unicorn and fairy dust chaser, etc.), I realized somewhere along the line that I'm just not worthy of having such an exalted figure as Hillary as my champion. Maybe if I try real hard to reform, I'll be able to vote for her with a clear conscience in 2020. And then again, maybe not.

After the primaries I thought I could hold my nose, punch myself in the face and vote Clinton. And even after being accused by Clinton supporters of being a racist and sexist. But then the simple question democrats are always asking about gop voters: why don't you vote for your own self-interests? And in answering the question for myself, the answer is that voting for Clinton is not in my self interest. And this before Wikileaks revealed Clinton to be right winger on all the issues that will effect me. She was worse than I originally suspected. And of course, the cheating of Bernie Sanders. I voted Stein and where possible, other Green candidates and for a few state level democrats who showed some gumption in holding to progressive values and policies.

My own self-interest includes less war, more actual taking care of the needy, less interfering in other countries' affairs (especially just to benefit fossil fuel corporations and other bribe-payers, er, donors), more joining with other countries to actually (not just in press releases) reduce where possible the disastrous effects of the climate change already underway, etc., etc..

Stein was the obvious, and only, choice once Bernie was swept aside by the Clinton/DNC/media team.

fwiw, tamara keith is one of clinton's on-the-plane press pals.

npr's online presence is pretty much garbage and has been for quite some time. i listen pretty much exclusively in the car, and sometimes their radio is infuriating too, like the time lynne cheney got an hour to shill her book on the history of the presidency. (or whatever the fuck it was about..) at this point people named "cheney" don't need to be anywhere near anybody writing history books.

and yeah, everybody knew the whole "shouting" line wasn't sexist, and some people that knew the whole "shouting" line wasn't sexist decided to push it as sexist anyway, because they're gender-baiting liars. par for the course for the clinton campaign, it's surrogates, and it's zombie shills.

(ed) and i'll add that this type of bullshit-baiting utterly poisons discourse. at this point, when i hear someone claim to be a feminist i cringe, hard.. even if they're people i know well, even if i already knew they were a feminist. the thing is, these clinton zombies aren't feminists. they're opportunists of the lowest order, and they should have been laughed off the scene. unfortunately, lots of people are markier than marky mark.

really interesting is seeing how far to the right she can run (privatizing social security? new wars? fuckery in foreign elections? clinton foundation slush fund/ access atm?) before these clinton people will start to immolate themselves in the streets, because by and large i can't imagine any of them admitting that they were wrong at this point.

Refer also to the needlessly murky books kept by the family foundation (see http://charlesortel.com/). The foundation's revised tax filings. And this:

Clinton Foundation officials have yet to disclose the charity’s third quarter 2016 donors — which ended September 30 — thus insuring voters won’t know who contributed in the final months leading up to the Nov. 8 presidential election.

but back in the days when Daniel Shore and Dave Edwards were there it was far far more neutral, allowing for -- no -- advancing the equal time rule. They were actually trustworthy but then came the big money, spelling the end of a once, not perfect but decent institution. Now they are funded in part by the Koch bros and are nothing more than stenographers. I still listen to some shows like "Science Friday", "Radio Lab", "TED Radio" and quite a few others. I love Fred Childs show "Performance Today"

DETROIT - Elections officials expect 45 percent to 50 percent of Detroit's 513,000 registered voters to cast ballots in Tuesday's general election.

City Clerk Janice Winfrey says Thursday that 51 percent voted in the 2012 general election and 53 percent cast ballots in 2008.

Of the more than 54,600 absentee ballots issued so far, nearly 38,800 have been returned. The city expects to count 62,000 to 68,000 absentee ballots. About 81,000 were counted four years ago and 77,000 were counted in 2008.

The city has issued about 10,000 new voter registration cards.

i think of it in terms of the democratic leadership -- which in 2010 means, obama, kaine and emmanuel bothering to giving the people of detroit and milwaukee something to vote for.

I forget where I read it--maybe a tweet?--but it said something along the lines of "Hillary didn't have enough duplicated ballots and dead voters to make up for all the people who will turn out to vote for Trump". I sure as hell hope that's a correct assumption.

I can't decide if I agree with Assange on "Trump won't be permitted to win" or not. He makes a lot of good points, but I also can see that Trump has been kind of co-opted by the asshole wing of the GOP already, by guys like Paul Ryan. And Newt Gingrich is back like the plague, angling for a spot in a Trump cabinet, no doubt. Shit, the Rs can't wait to take over everything, and they have more practice at fixing the GE than Her Heinous and the DNC do. So...I don't know....

The theme being "no criticism of a Clinton is valid". There's always something wrong with their critics that becomes the topic of conversation and gosh, there's just no time left to talk about the substance of the criticism. In fact, there's something wrong with you if you permit your self to listen to the criticism.
