emails/letters i have seen:

The Dakota Access Pipeline Project, which you are helping fund, can and will bring great shame to your Bank.

My questions for you:
1) Please clarify whether funds you are providing are being used, in any amount, to pay for the heavily militarized response to the Standing Rock Sioux, including the attack dogs, sound-cannon trucks, heavily armed officers, and even a crop duster spraying undetermined chemicals over the camp?
2) Why does your institution sink so much money into maximizing the amounts of oil and gas that can be brought to the surface and burned at a time when climate science is clear we have to maximize what we keep in the ground instead?

As a current or potential customer or investor of your financial institution, I reject the notion of my money helping to support your investment in the Dakota Access pipeline, an inherently dangerous and unjust oil pipeline that threatens air and water quality in many states, and violates sacred lands of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe.

I urge you to give up your financial stake in the Dakota Access pipeline immediately.

The courtesy of a response by 11/10/2016 is requested.

I wrote to Wells Fargo board and mentioned their recent scandals. I have two loans with them and mentioned offers I receive to jump ship. This is the email I sent to Citibank:

Aloha Mr. Corbat,
As a customer of your financial institution, I reject the notion of my money helping to support your investment in the Dakota Access pipeline, an inherently dangerous and unjust oil pipeline that threatens air and water quality in many states, and violates sacred lands of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe. I urge you to give up your financial stake in the Dakota Access pipeline.
I have a Sears card and Home Depot card through Citibank. I’m inundated with offers to consolidate debt from many institutions weekly. I’m at zero balance with both cards but I’m planning some home improvement. I’m not sure I’ll keep these cards if Citibank doesn’t see fit to be a good citizen. I’m very concerned about impacts to the water quality. The upper Midwest states have a compact to protect their waters.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter. May I please have a written response, thank you.

Aloha, Anne

And they illegally used eminent domain to install the pipeline on at least 9 farmlands whose owners are suing.
Eminent domain can only be used to help a community, not a foreign corporation.
Bush signed an executive order on this.
The security forces being used against the protesters has ties to the US military and many of the members were US troops.
As the saying goes, wars abroad make their way back home.

several security firms under investigation for its work guarding the Dakota Access pipeline in North Dakota while potentially without a permit. Besides this recent work on the Standing Rock Sioux protests in North Dakota, this company has offices in Iraq and Afghanistan and is run by a special forces Army veteran.

And there are lawsuits against the people who

The Morton country sheriff's Department also recently concluded that another security company, Frost Kennels, operated in the state while unlicensed to do so and could face criminal charges. The firm’s attack dogs bit protesters at a heated Labor Day weekend protest.

Media Benjamin summed this up perfectly
"

It is another terrifying example of how our violent interventions abroad come home to haunt us in the form of repression and violation of our civil rights.”

People used to wonder if our cops or military members would have any problems with attacking American civilians. I think that the question has been answered. They are starting with the Native Americans, but what if a lot of white people join the protests or if after the TPP passes and a foreign company overruled your state's or city's ban against fracking or other destructive acts and thousands of people protested against them, would we see cops and veterans attacking American civilians?
The LRAD machine has been deployed against the water protectors. How long until we see the microwave device used on our citizens?

this video.

"The active denial system has 3 great characteristics
First it's safe, second it's effective and third it has a tremendous range compared to the other non lethal weapons that today's War fighters have

I wrote this comment last night after watching this video that k9disc provided.

The first time this is deployed on American citizens then we know that the PTB do see us as enemy combatants and that means that the Bill of Rights isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
The only amendment that seems to be still intact is the second.
1,3,4,5 have been under attack long before the war on terror started.
3/4 were destroyed by the war on drugs.
The Castle doctrine hoes out the window when a SWAT team can bust into homes during a no knock warrant. Hear a bunch of men break into your home and not knowing who they are and try to defend yourself and your family and you are shot dead. Along with any pets that do what pets do and protect their families.
Wrong address? Oops, their bad.
And too damned many people are okay with these actions. I have been reading various website's comments on the use of force against the Native Americans and read the same type of comments people have made when the cops brutality attacked the BLM and OWS protesters. You probably have read the same comments that people write being in favor of the cop's actions and know what people are writing about the people who have been met by cops in riot gear.
I have no idea what it is going to take to wake people up and realize that we live in a police state.
But mention that to some people and they will deny it because you have the right to say that.
But try to peacefully assemble to protest our government's actions or in this case a foreign company that is financed by foreign banks which has illegally used eminent domain and the 1st Amendment goes out the window.

And who do you think is going to be the president that will authorize the use of this device on us? I don't or can't imagine that it won't have to be authorized to be used on Americans without someone high up in our government authorizing it.

blonde-haired, blue-eyed little girls innocently caught in the crossfire.

Because if you're a minority, you're one of "them". And if you dare talk back, you deserve it somehow. And if you're male or older, well, these things happen, toughen up, you can handle it. And if it's only a few, well, it's a mistake, knocked out of the media and our collective consciousness' short attention span by the next news cycle. Look! Squirrel!

But knowing this, of course TPTB will be careful among crowds of cute little white girls.

Damn straight! This is an excellent post.

Contrast that paragraph with what just happened to the free Bundy Bunch out in Oregon. So many of us knew at the time that those men and women would not be killed like the dogs they are; but people running away with their backs to a cop for a broken light on their car are. Or sitting in their car are. Or, or, or. I'm fuquing sick of this militarized country. I have no faith in the system. No justice, no peace. The system is beyond broken.

I work at our church as the children's ministries director. My faith is challenged often in these times.

Facebook made it very diffacult. I typed in "Standing" the correct location was at the top for a second then disappeared. I ended up having to type in everything including Cannonball, ND before I could get it in the top 20. Oddly the choices it gave me prior were less relevant to what I had entered.

Makes me think they were trying to make it as hard as possible while still being able to deny it.

As Media Gatekeeper, 70+ Groups Call on Facebook to End Censorship

As Facebook comes under fire for its alleged censorship and tracking of activists and protesters, a coalition of more than 70 groups and individuals has demanded the social media behemoth “clarify its policy on removing video and other content, especially human rights documentation, at the request of government actors.”

A letter (pdf)—whose signatories include the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), 350.org, Color of Change, and the Indigenous Environmental Network—sent Monday cites recent incidents including:

the deactivation of Korryn Gaines’ account,
the removal of iconic photographs,
reports of suppression of Indigenous resistance,
continued reports of Black activists’ content being removed,
and the disabling of Palestinian journalists’ accounts following your meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister.

“These instances of censorship clearly point to the gaps in Facebook’s automation and content guidelines,” said Nicole Carty of the consumer watchdog SumOfUs, which coordinated the letter. “In order to mitigate these issues, Facebook must recognize these broader policy failures as human rights and free speech issues. From Black Lives Matter in the United States to journalists in Palestine, Facebook’s lack of transparency has resulted in reports of censorship on almost a weekly basis, which proves that this is not an individualized ‘glitch’ but a broader policy problem.”

to a singular mindset is cult like all they seem to care about is herding us into the veal pen, that's their solution for everything.

I imagine people have a need and have benefited from social media to some degree, but it's so open to being manipulative, so I don't engage the tweet, FB, etc.etc.

Yesterday upon leaving my local dog park there was a sign in support of NAPL on the fence, and not surprisingly everyone was asking what is that
and sadly I was the only one there that knew, so I tried explaining what was going on, but the interest level barely registered.
