Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
I googled snapdragon photos and saw similar ones that identify it as a snapdragon. Snapdragons were a childhood favourite of mine, that my mother often planted. I enjoyed the way you could snap it gently with two fingers, and it looked like it was 'talking'.
Do you know of an app or site where you can copy and paste an image, and will accurately identify a photo? I tried googlecamera.com but it was fairly useless.

Feel free to send me links to sites like that.
There is an amazing hotel on the dream vacation page.
Dang, I wish I had money to travel to those countries
These are my favorites.
I don't remember where I got this from or what the cloud formation is called
in Australia, called the Morning Glory cloud. And then I got lost looking at clouds. Now I'll have to go back and look at the dream vacation page, and dream.
I am just one of those science guys that many people really dislike. So, if I am raining on your parade, just ignore me. I am used to being ignored as I have been doing this since the second grade.
Morning Glory clouds are the result of Rossby Waves in a region where you might expect a uniform horizontal laminar air flow. The lensatic clouds are the result of a laminar air flow (no turbulence) over a mountain where the layers of air contain differing amounts of H2O.
I now return you to your regularly scheduled fun.
EDIT: Oops wrong term for vertical oscillations, sorry. I will have to look up the terminology for the vertical instability that causes this effect.
The indicate moisture in the air that is flowing over the mountain. As the are is lofted above the mountain the vapor in that air condenses into water drops and/or ice of various shapes (temperature dependent). As the air flows past the mountain it gets compression heated ant the ice and water become clear vapor once again. The space between the two lensatic clouds is a layer of relatively dry air. If the air speed becomes too large the down stream region becomes turbulent . . . Sorry, this will not be on the test.
And to extrapolate a bit from that “Think Different” TV ad of Apple’s, he would probably have agreed that people who are just a bit mental push the human race forward.
Pilots of powered aircraft are taught early on in training to avoid these as they are an indicator of severe turbulence in the area, on the other hand glider pilots intentionally aim for them as they are thinking elevator ride to the top floor...

Her domains come no closer to me than Cheyenne, Wyoming.
I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The principal railway (Denver and Rio Grande), as well as the city itself, were both founded by Civil War General William J. Palmer. Today, the D&RGW is part of the Union Pacific system. That makes the rails near my home the turf of Union Pacific No. 844, the only steam locomotive to never have been retired by a Class I railroad in the United States.

i was shooting with a polarizing filter which tends to make the sky appear bluer. it was a very bright day, late in the afternoon (bright light on the horizon rather than overhead), which is my guess as to why the horizon appears whiter than the center of the sky.

I flew through a couple of those today
West of Las Vegas, over the Red Rocks park. Bumpy.

Is it possible to fly and photograph,
even when it's bumpy. Bumpy cloud photos could be interesting ; ).
Yes, new cameras are great for this.
True,
faster shutter speeds are more available now. Either way though, bumpy or smooth, clouds are fascinating.
Active vibration damping.
Image stabilization via hardware and particularly software techniques have made snapshot photography into near pro-level art.
My wife and I "read" clouds as we travel about the West. She's an artist and I am a physicist, most passersby act as though we are just a bit mental.

I have some video.
I need to put it up on You Tube in order to get it here, though. I'm reluctant, right at the moment. But I have some stills.
