This was a strategy to get Bernie supporters to come on board with Clinton - yes, they think THIS little of us:

It should feel almost like “we got together and decided to do this on our own”.

CONCEPT PAPER
OBJECTIVE:
Mobilize young voter participation for the 2016 election in support of Hillary Clinton

STRATEGY:
Use young elected officials and entertainers to build a “grassroots” movement of under 40 voters as a vehicle to migrate support for Bernie into activism for Hillary.

OPERATIONAL GOALS:
Identify young elected officials (YEOs)across the country to become the face of a new organization that is focused on a progressive future. These young elected officials would promote both the organization, the ideas embraced by it and the need for civic engagement with an immediate focus on involvement in the 2016 election. They would be seen as the faces of a new progressivist movement that combines noble goals with political realities resulting in real progress.
The organization would be built around a group of ideas or concepts as opposed to parties or individuals. The ideas should always reinforce the message that the under 40 generation needs to engage politically to shape their own future. Building the New Economy, Creating an Empowerment Society, Transitioning to a Sustainable World, Tearing Down Barriers are all phrases which might be included in the messaging. Support for the Hillary would be included in the messaging but initially as tangential to it, i.e. “if you support these things then there really isn’t another choice but her”. Over time the messaging would transition more into the actionable item of involvement in the campaign and support for its efforts.
The organization should be built around a Ready for Hillary type model: grassroots driven, limited engagement of the principal, both an organizational and small dollar fundraising component, centered on-line and in venues frequented by under 40’s – college campuses, with a big emphasis on community colleges, nightclubs, athletic events, etc.
The group should be branded separately from the campaign so people who engage with it feel like they created and own it as opposed to feeling swallowed by an organization that defeated them. A distinct name, artwork, website, spokespeople etc would be desired.

TACTICS:
The program should be launched initially in one state and then expand out. It should be seen as growing and spreading. We want people calling and asking if they can set one up in their state as opposed to forcing the model on them.
The YEO’s in that state would announce the formation of their group stating theirs goal to help elect a progressive President and engage young people with a goal of making sure their voices are heard and they are ready to participate. It should feel almost like “we got together and decided to do this on our own”. Depending on the organizational model, they could say they all support Hillary and are doing it to help but there are bigger and longer term objectives here, etc. Ideally you could say something like the campaign is providing limited resources but has agreed any funds you raise will be directed into youth outreach.
They would then do a series of event which would be a college campus “town hall” during the day and a club type event that night. The “town hall” with students would be informal with talking with students about goals, dreams, political reality, how government can make things happen, how sometimes it doesn’t, etc. It would end in a pitch for them to become engaged politically to build a progressive future. Later in the evening, these YEO’s would attend and speak briefly at a campaign event in a bar/club featuring a local DJ or entertainer and has a nominal contribution as part of attendence. The campus event will be used to build buzz for the second event as well as the campaign itself. As momentum grows for the organization, bigger names would be brought in for the “town hall” events as well as bigger artists for the “club” events, furthering the momentum. Eventually, HRC/WJC/CVC as well as VP and Spouse would be integrated into these events but it should be seen as them coming to the “movement” as opposed to them trying to take it over.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
1) This program be launched by Mayor Andre Gillum in Florida. Goal would be early April
2) Target is to have 10 people at launch
3) Do events in Miami, Palm Beach, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando in April.
4) Convene a group of National YEO’s in May/June to discuss their involvement.
5) Have organization functioning in 5 battlegound states by June 1 – Florida, Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina?

Really can't add anything to that - totally speaks for itself.

Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur.

I must be losing my memory in my old age, but during the primaries I swear that Clinton and her supporters waged a scorched earth campaign in part against younger Bernie supporters as uninformed, misinformed and naive. Oh, and just showing their arrogant white privilege. And with mouth pieces like Krugman iterating those themes. Well, with the Gloria S. young women were just hot to trot for some young guys.

I wonder if the effect of Wikileaks will not be on helping Trump, but in building a profound mistrust of Hillary and the democratic party among in particular younger votes.

I had to laugh aloud at some of their strategy development for wangling younger voters back into the hot mess of 2016:

They would be seen as the faces of a new progressivist movement that "combines noble goals with political realities resulting in real progress."

Right off the bat, what are these "political realities" they speak of? That's how Republicans talk.

Next comes the bait and switch:

Support for the Hillary would be included in the messaging but initially as tangential to it, i.e. “if you support these things then there really isn’t another choice but her”.

"The Hillary?" Hahaha! I can just see young voters whipping up enthusiasm with, "There really isn’t another choice but her, man. Let's roll with it." Sure. That'll work.

The group should be branded separately from the campaign so people who engage with it feel like they created and own it as opposed to feeling swallowed by an organization that defeated them.

They're young and dumb. They'll never notice. Right?

It should feel almost like “we got together and decided to do this on our own”.

Jesus wept.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Do events in Miami, Palm Beach, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando in April.

Doesn't look like Palm Beach worked out so well.

She and her campaign seem oblivious to the fact that the opponent's supporters are voters. It's as though she wants to say to undecideds, "Ugh. You never want to be part of that terrible lot, do you?"

It's an especially stupid tactic during a primary for someone who hopes to win the primary, but she and her campaign use it anyway. In 2008, we had Obama boys. During the 2016 primary, we had Bernie Bros, who supposedly were the worst of the worst. Then we got the basket of deplorables, which really blew up in her face, in part because she fits the description she gave.

Cool, groovy, hip and square, in that descending order.

The square is seldom - if ever - cool.
He is not "with it", that is: he doesn't know "what's happening".

But if he manages to figure it out, he moves up a notch to 'hip'.

And if he can bring himself to approve of what's happening, he becomes 'groovy'.

And after that - with much luck and perseverance - he can rise to the rank of 'cool'.

There is noting there. Not. A. Thing. Empty.

Clintons have spent decades trying to get more money, more power, using people. Each of their campaigns have wound up with their staff competing for position, status, and doing anything to advance their own agendas.

So sad Wikileaks didn't release their information months ago. But then, even when the Director of the FBI called Clinton reckless, careless, but wouldn't do anything to further prosecution, we saw how everyone has sold out - given in to the corruption.

Still think Her Heinous has serious physical, neurological problems - will do anything to make herself the first woman POTUS, that's all. Nothing. Empty.

I believe the polls which still show how close this election is. Clintons have spent twice the amount of money as Trump, who ever would have thought it would be this close.

But, as many of American adults are like stunted children it will work on a good many of them. Fear is one of the major motivating factors for everything they do. The rest of us, however, smell a rat in what can only be perceived as pathetic and implicating desperation.

Some people are just not going to give a shit about stuff like this, unfortunately, because they just think all politics is dirty and don't care about the specifics that we'll dissect and devour.

But I do think the totality of the revelations does ultimately add up to something that spells deeper mistrust and loathing of an already despised Hillary Rodham Clinton and her fraudulent campaign and will probably hurt her at the polls.

I think that's rather unlikely, probably more that he bought into the idea that the Dems had an internal majority of Brown + Black that could dictate a candidate to the Whites in the party - which is a close paraphrase of a statement he made in one of his own blogs on Daily Koch.

From what I can see, the white progressives left his site. Which just drives a racial wedge between groups on the left that should be allied. And those accusations he is a CIA plant are so obviously at odds with the outcomes he has generated.....

Try over two years ago, long before any candidate had publicly declared their intentions to run for President. Back on July 23, 2014, Markos wrote this gem.

Clinton will be our nominee. She is genuinely liked and popular with Democratic Party primary voters. So if you're going to run against her, you're not running to win, you're running either to a) make a statement, or b) angle for the VP slot.

That was written in July 2014!!! So what does Markos stand to get from this? I doubt that it is money. It is probably a seat at one of the outer tables of power.

That's why he is so smug about Identity Politics and that's why he missed the boat on Sanders. Mainstream Dems believe in demographic inevitability and, to them, policy no longer matters. Here's a quote from Thomas Frank's Listen, Liberal:

“What’s more, Democrats in Washington now believe they possess a permanent hold on the presidency , thanks to the country’s demographic shifts. “The coalition of the ascendant” is the phrase journalists began to use in 2008 to describe the Democrats’ victorious and inexorably growing army – “young people, minorities, [and] upper middle class white professionals,” to quote the pundit who coined the locution – and what it means is that every augury now points the Democrats’ way. Yes, they might lose a Congressional election here and there, but they are the natural majority party now, they think; when they encounter an obstacle, all they have to do is stand by and let the natural process of demographic “ascendancy” work.
Talk about the coalition of the ascendant causes Democratic hearts to race joyfully. For so many years they were the loser party, the wimp faction, the party of McGovern and Carter and Mondale and Dukakis. Now, suddenly, they have been transformed into the dominant party, the rightful occupants of the White House. The righteous will be rewarded, goes the proverb, and to Washington Democrats their advancing ascendancy feels a lot like cosmic justice.
For them it is an awesome vindication. So what if Republicans trounced them in 2010 and 2014? So what if the GOP dominates the state legislatures and both houses of Congress? Democrats now know with the certainty of political science itself that those Republican advances will slowly but surely be reversed. Democrats no longer need to plead, explain, or persuade; henceforth they need merely to wait.

that pushing whites into a corner psychologically, "morally" (= ever-escalating talk of PC, white guilt, privilege, micro-aggressions, etc.), and demographically is indeed a deliberate strategy and plan.

This is a really nasty dialectic, heading for a situation where the alt-right can argue that white people's only choices are to "go gentle into that good night," or join up and militantly defend their pride, interests, history, culture, identity, etc. the way "SJWs" (so-called "social justice warriors," also referred to as "cultural Marxists") are spurring on every other group to defend theirs.

I don't know what millennials they are talking about. I have 3 myself, so I know more than three. They aren't into Sarah Silverman. One's an earth mother who bucks anything "establishment", another is extremely busy but politically astute but not easily swayed. She would be happy to lose her job I think to get single payer and knows that what she is doing is necessary but would rather the right thing be done. Last one is totally not going with any trend. She does what she likes and what she likes is often odd and niche oriented.

They aren't into the Kardpootlians. All like animals and cat videos. All see the environment slipping away. Identity politics don't mean squat, they are extremely interested in the planet and thrift and good dealing. They are beyond jaded with the justice system.

Where in the past it might have taken two people to make a decent go of it, they are grouping together and helping each other. They have to.

This shit is bananas.

Why should Hillary bother to lie about cleaning up the mess she contributed to? Wait until you see the mess she's going to make!

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

The precip (rare event this year until last week) woke me up. I got out of my dog-occupied bed to come and get more-depressed. 41 outside. Pink and blue signals on radar. Effin A.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
