My open Letter to the "Vote Shamers" on my FB feed.

Recently I posted a couple comments about this subject here, and as I am lazy and didn't want to retype all my thoughts on this over yet again I decided to take a couple of my comments, combine them and re-edit it and post it on my FB as a response to some of the garbage I have been receiving both via PM and on my feed.

I thought it came out ok, if a bit rantish, and figured I would post it here as well in the event anyone else is dealing with the same issues on (anti)social media that I am. Smile

Feel free to copy completely and share, edit it out to fit you, or ignore it as you see fit.

"Set Phasors for Rant." "Engage!" (sorry, was watching some ST-TNG reruns last night, lol!)

My open response to those that persist in trying to "shame" or harass me into voting for Clinton (or Trump).

I am putting my response here rather than answering your PM's because quite frankly I am tired of trying to explain my position over and over to those that willfully refuse to even engage in an honest discussion and would rather fall back on calling me Racist or Misogynistic for refusing to vote for pretty much any Democrat this cycle. (My down ballot choices are just as unpalatable as the top of the ticket here in Florida.)

Many of you know that politically I lean towards the left on some issues, towards the right on others, but generally vote for the more progressive/Libertarian choice.

However, one thing I am completely fed up with is those telling me that my vote for a third party is a vote for Trump (Or Clinton).

The problem with this argument is it assumes I give a crap If Clinton or Trump, or the Democrats or Republicans, win.
I don't. Not in the slightest. They are just two fangs on the same vampire sucking the life and freedom from our nation.

My vote for Stein or Johnson isn't a protest vote, it's me, casting MY vote for the Candidate that I think has the best policies that are in line with my personal beliefs.

My vote doesn't belong to Democrats, Republicans , Independents or the Greens, it belongs to ME!
The hubris and arrogance it takes to assume that MY vote has to be cast for one of the two parties, when I don't like either of them, and strongly disagree with both of their policy postions is just astounding to me.

The cowardice it takes to "Settle" for terrible candidate out of fear of a worse one is exactly what has allowed us to reach the point that we are at today.

A "Lessor of two evils" argument means you are supporting evil, and as far as that goes I got one thing to say, "Fuck that!".
I am not so cowardly that I would vote against my conscience for a candidate I think is deplorable.

I will not vote for a candidate that supports the death penalty, nor will I support a candidate with a history of hawkishness, poor decision making and a long history of lying to the public.

A vote for Trump is a vote for Trump, A vote for Clinton is a Vote for Clinton and a vote for a third party is the same.
To think that if those of us whom were not voting for Stein or Johnson would be automatically be voting for Hillary just shows how deep into the false duopoly many have bought.

So, if you people that support either of the two parties want to try to shame me for not playing along with the charade it's going to have zero impact on me, because I won't be shamed by those that support evil regardless of justification.

I believe those that settled for so long for the LOTE's are ignorant and are culpable in the crimes perpetrated by the evil person they knowingly voted for.

Which begs the question, "Why would the scorn of ignorant people that support evil bother me in the slightest?".

This damn Team Sports mentality has infected our approach to politics and just further entrenches the corrupt duopoly.
It really illustrates how shallow thinking these people actually are that they can only operate under an A or B scenario. There is no room in their heads for a C.

Intellectual laziness and political cowardice. That's all that the shamers argument screams to me.

What's really funny about it is many of those same people that are bagging on us for not voting for the Democratic Party because "Trump Scary!!!" are the same ones that lambasted republican voters for voting against their own best interests for so long.

I, and many others, will not be voting against our own best interests just to enable the Clinton's corruption and ambition. The sooner they realize that the sooner they will begin operating with realistic data.

I think the thing that scares them the most is that the nice, comfortable bubble that so many of them dwell in is in the process of being popped which will soon force them to acknowledge reality as it actually exists.

The hubris of the Vote Shamers is indeed amazing, they will call us "Privileged" for not supporting their candidate, whereas I think the REAL privilege is demonstrated by being able to support Clinton and her NeoLiberal policies.
It must be nice to be so comfortable that they can afford another 4 or 8 years of the same policies that have decimated the middle class and further weakened the poorest and most vulnerable amongst us for decades.

Hypocrites, the lot of them.

My disgust with a large portion of Americans is at a level I have never before had, and for the first time I am actually embarrassed to be an American.

If these two candidates are the best we can come up with out of the almost 320 Million Americans out there we should all be pissed, embarrassed and fighting to get rid of BOTH parties that persist in continually forcing such awful choices, the fact that we are not illustrates how ignorant and apathetic the average American voter is.

So in short, If I walk into a Deli and the only two choices on the menu are a horse shit sandwich and a dog shit sandwich it's the sandwich makers problem and not mine when I say, "No thanks, I will go next door and grab a Green salad."

Both parties are hopelessly corrupt and so thoroughly co-opted by Corporate interests that we don't need just one new party, we need to send the other two "Major" parties to join the Whigs in the dustbin of history and replace them all.

Go and see where your political compass points here if you want and share it below. (Here is mine.) I would be genuinely interested to see where my friends fall on the spectrum.

Tons of Hillary spin is that she is going to win anyway, so you should vote for her.
I don't need to vote for the winner. I am not a fair weather fan of sports or a fair weather voter. My vote does not need to be popular.

type of thoughts it may cause them to re-evaluate their opinions.

I am not optimistic about those prospects, but at this point there is little else I can come up with towards that end.

We need to get more and more people to start questioning the status quo and if they really feel it is working for them and actually represents their political positions.

Anyone have a compass for Clinton/Trump? I would be interested to see how closely aligned they actually are. (Based on her actions, not what she said.)

my dad. hah.. some of the southleft position statements i fall way to the right on, but i think it's mostly the fact that in a lot of these scenarios/questions i'm not strongly either way. the statements really aren't nuanced enough, but it's a survey and all.

that being said, yeah, we're all hugging that corner like it's magnetic. lol.

a couple of days ago..."If Clinton can't beat the worst candidate ever without Stein's 2% of the vote then it's not Stein's fault."

He responded with something along the lines of 'Stein can't win she should just drop out."

I responded: "So the Cubs could win the Series if the other teams would just quit...Is that how it work?"

I do believe that 2% number is "cooked" and that it's actually enough to give her access to the debates. Just a hunch on my part.

Not an exact match with Alphalop's, but we apparently live in the same neighborhood.

It really is a beautiful location and the people are friendlier than those on the other side of the "tracks".

I was really surprised when I first did this and saw I was to the left of Gandhi, lol!

My RWNJ family members would probably give birth to a 24k gold kitten if they saw that chart. (Hmm, I could use some gold, time to make a few calls, lol!)

He does have me sufficiently frightened by Gary Johnson after hearing for the first time the 'Mount Everest' statement.

His summary is not that we're voting for the lesser of two evils...we're voting for the lesser of four evils.

I have a relatively untamed Cairn terrierist, now sitting in a chair where she can see me. Listening is beyond her, outside potty is verboten unless nature calls. She beheaded a small sapling (pawpaw) in her yard. She dislikes the car. The most odd dog I have ever lived with. I have no doubt that if I died and no one knew she would eat me. She is still looking, or pretending to sleep.

so well said - thank you for that. Am definitely voting for Jill Stein even though the voting process is corrupt and I don't like to endorse the corrupt system by participating in it. The Political Compass is interesting, am surprised i came out a tick further left and south on the scale from you, neighbor. Wink

than I was at the start of this election cycle, but not really by that much.

Interesting how this website full of Trump supporters that quote RWNJ websites consists of members that are just about as far away from Trump's political compass position as one can get. Must be the fact that he is to Hillary's left on the compass (though way, way more authoritarian).

It's funny how people use language. I hadn't taken that test in a long time and I find some questions just unclear. For example, "Charity is better than social security as a means of helping the genuinely disadvantaged." Why is social security not charity? Because the government does it? I mean, i'm sure they mean private non-government charity, but why aren't we calling social security collective charity? I know some people view charity negatively, but I don't see the difference. Charity lifts all boats, especially when done through collective unbiased means.
