Write in campaign, Op Deny 270
is phone banking into Vermont, promoting a write in Bernie strategy. In a close electoral race Bernie winning Vermont would throw the election to the House. Per the 12th ammendment, the House would choose the President from the top 3 electoral vote getters.
I have to say I am impressed with the effort and level of organization, VoteTheBlock.com claims to have 500,000 phone numbers for voters in Vermont. Personally I think they'd be lucky to complete over 100k calls. But then I have no clue how large the effort is.
300 people making 30 calls an hour is 900 calls per hour, 10 hours a week is 9000 calls per week, over 4 weeks thats 36,000 calls. But 1000 people could easily call over 100k voters by Nov 8th.
Apparently they have 30 of the 55 electors needed in California to allow a Bernie write in.

What does throwing the election to the House get us?
Appointment of Hillary if she finished in the top 3? Is the strategy supposed to open it up for Stein or Johnson?
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
What makes you think the ruubs will choose billary?
What makes you think the ruubs will choose billary? The house won't be able to make a decision, so it will be thrown to the senate, which will deadlock as well.
The find the possibility of a constitutional crisis entertaining. What type of compromise will be made so that no one in the house/senate has to take responsibility for voting for any of the bad options. Maybe we can get a preferential vote for the president via amendment, and rerun the election in 2017, with one of the vp's picked as a stand in until that point.
The message will be clear,... America picks neither!, congress can disregard that at their own peril.
Are you suggesting the GOP will shun the Corporatocracy?
What would it take for the GOP to vote for Bernie? They have already swallowed the poison pill and endorsed Hillary over Trump, and that's before anyone votes on their re-election. There will be no pretense in pretending to hate the Democrat that shares their corporate
There are 50 state delegations in the house. 14 Democrat majority states, 33 GOP majority, and 3 evenly split. It's 26 to win. So Hillary only needs a dozen states to vote for her.

I don't think so
The new House gets sworn in January 3. I don't think the country would wait for 2 months. Expediency was one of the reasons given for Bush v Gore

Stein and Johnson..... clearly no.
Which i why this these people are calling into Vermont, which Bernie won by a Yuge margin.

It's 'deny270': if Vermont,
It's 'deny270': if Vermont, New Hampshire and/or Oregon (where Bernie did well and Jill apparently has no chance - this strategy does not harm Jill's campaign) vote in Bernie via write-ins (which are valid and counted in those States), the delegates in those places are, at the least, denied the candidates of the corporate Parties. Please recall that Bernie did not concede to or release his delegates to Clinton at the Dem Coronation, that being why he took the only possible out of moving to drop rules (already expediently ignored by the corporate Dems) to have Hillary declared as the corporate Dem Presidential candidate - and that he actually did win the Dem nomination.

I think Bernie has to be registered in each state as a
write-in candidate. I doubt he is registered anywhere.

Only in some states.
It is important that people research their options and not just guess. I did not save the link. I KNOW that in Michigan, Jill is on the ballot, and I can't vote for Bernie because he isn't registered.
This means that only seven states allow write-in candidates freely, with no requirements: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Iowa, and Oregon.

7 states have open write in rules
California requires 55 people to sign an affidavidt that they are electors, then the write ins count.
Only 35 states require the candidate to file write in paperwork.

What ever it takes to shake it up!
Anything, and we know from the Clintons that whatever it is doesn't have to be legal, to shake things up.
No More DNC. A. B. C. = Anybody But Clintons
Would love to see as many millennials as possible on this campaign too.
thanks for this essay.
I'm with you
The more blow back and chaos the voters can create, the better. Teach those crooks to watch their backs. We need to Nail them a few times.

I hadn't thought of it like that
I have to agree though.
There may be enough hatred of Clinton and Trump in the House.....
Certaibly there are some Republicans who respect Bernie, don't agree with him on a lot of issues, but respect him. And then its a question of how many House Dems privately voted for Bernie at home, but publically endorsed Clinton.
Yeah, stir the pot, start some shit. But hey I'm not waiting for a meteor to hit ......

This strategy would deliver the election to Hillary.
The Republican Establishment Elite hate Trump, and they are owned by the corporate Oligarchy.
Stein needs to win the Blue states in order to establish legitimacy for the Green Party, and delegitimize the Democrat Party, so that the Green Party can rise to become the dominant progressive liberal coalition in 2020. This is imperative.

Really?
Bernie won what was it?.......23 states? This suggests significant support in those states. 26 votes wins it.
Hawaii will have 2 congress people on Jan 6th, Tulsi Gabbard is one of them and likely to be re elected.
So you think in the heat of the moment all the ducks will get in line? History shows us in 1924 that didn't happen.
FDR 9-23-33, "If we cannot do this one way, we will do it another way. But do it we will.
Forget Bernie. Bernie is not running. Stein is running.
Please. You are mentioning facts that are nothing but red herrings. None of what you have written here has any relevance what-so-ever in this election at this stage:
The strategy promoted in this essay was devised by the DNC to serve one and only one purpose, to deliver the election to Hillary. Is that what you want? To help Hillary? Because that is what the strategy being promoted here is designed to do, in no uncertain terms.
I repeat: The Republican Establishment Elite hate Trump, and they are owned by the corporate Oligarchy, so Republicans in Congress, along with the Democrats, will vote for Hillary over Trump.
Game over.
The liberal coalition must rally around Stein and the Green Party today. As I (also) said, Stein needs to win the Blue states in order to establish legitimacy for the Green Party and delegitimize the Democrat Party, so that the Green Party can rise to become the dominant progressive liberal coalition in 2020. This is imperative.

Links to indications of this
Links to indications of this being a Clinton faction strategy and to an outline of how depriving Clinton of 'hold-your-nose' votes and delegates in possibly 3 different States would help her if she fails to reach 270 (unless she already has, with early votes? haven't been following this) would be appreciated, pretty please.
If nothing else, depriving her of votes/delegates sends a more appropriate message than failing to support - even if symbolically - the actual winner of the Dem nomination against the psychopathic corporate/billionaire-representing cheater and her incorporated billionaire 'Greater Evil' foil.

I don't need a ink for what is glaringly obvious.
The strategy outlined in this essay puts the vote the Party Elite in Congress, who everyone knows is in the pocket of the Corporate Oligarchy that supports Clinton.
And...
We need to establish legitimacy for Stein/Green Party and delegitimize the Democrat Party, in order to destroy the Democrat Party, and to do this, Stein/Green Party must win as many liberal blue states as possible.
Do you or do you not support Stein?
Do you or do you not support the death of the corrupt Democrat Party?
If you advocate the strategy promoted in this essay, then the answer is obvious.
