Portland area Meetup?

Are there people interested in another Portland area meetup, say between now and the end of the month? If so, weekend or weekday preferred?

I'll wait a day or two for others to see this and then set a day.

I couldn't make it to the last one and I really want to meet some of the people I read every day. Wednesday and Thursday would be best for me, but I can make it on a weekend if I have a day or two to plan.

I'll sticky this to the top of the queue for a couple of days so more folks will see it.

if I can work it around my work schedule which can be nuts LOL. I'm down south of Roseburg so it is a drive for me. And because I don't drive after dark - old age and poor eye sight LOL - I'd prefer a lunch time meeting. Let me know and I'll keep an eye on this.

My days off are Sunday Monday and Tuesday. If that fits a schedule that works for others Chinese sounds great.

From responses so far, it sounds like a Sunday midday, with enough notice, might work for the people who have responded so far.

i'm in
this coming week is filling up but friday would work; the following week would be better for me
i would drive in from hood river; lunch or dinner worx
i am a foodie, so i hope the restaurant chosen won't be one of those crappy "chinese-american" faux-cantonese joints
szechwanese would do
but it should be quite with a round table capable of seating 10 or so

i am new to c99 and have yet to post much
i seek to meet people in driving proximity to my home in the columbia gorge who see through the faux-progressive labels, who know the wasp empire is collapsing, who are interested in exploring alternatives to neoclassical plutonomics, who understand building democratic power from the ground up, who understand plutocratic tactics of cooptation and divide and conquer, and who understand something about global warming and environmental destruction and the relation to predatory corporate capitalism
i lived in portland for 35 years and was once a player in the effort to make the city the wonderful place it still can be

i'll try to follow this thread and be there
however, i'd prefer, after some conversation in the thread so that we can attract a sufficient number of people, to communicate final details also via email
here's mine: davidhupp@charter.net

sometimes i find myself stumbling though the social media and i'm concerned that i might fall and break my hip and thus no longer be hip

I'm in the Gorge, too. Washington side, and a little closer to the city.

Weekends would work better for me, since I prefer not to have to drive back through the Gorge at night if I can avoid it. Winding mountain roads with steep drop-offs, in the darkness (and with the wind and rain we get here during autumn and winter), don't go well with driving for me.

You're hoping for. I will email date and time to you. I agree about good food, welcome suggestions, and will do some research. The good Chinese food places I know of are unsuitable locations.

i am seeing that c99 is full of kindred souls
but i crave physical presence to complement social media activity, plus my old fingers are getting stiff from all the keyboarding, plus i can't read the screen until i get my cataract operation
so i will continue with the wonderful c99, but would like to meet people playing in my ballpark for kawfee; or something
regarding chinese, i'm sympathetic with the conflict between bad chinese food and suitable meeting space
i might suggest expanding the category to include a viet or thai restaurant
unfortunately i've not lived in portland for 8 years so i'm a bit out of touch
here in my home town we have a wonderful chinese restaurant with a good, quiet meeting room
an hour east of portland
just saying

Done. I read a lot of restaurant reviews this morning. Then discovered a recurring puddle in my bathroom is from a roof leak. That has my attention for the time being.

I hope you can get the leak fixed easily.

It would be lovely to get together sometime soon.
There is a wonderful Thai restaurant we have had various meetings at. Siri Thai is on SE Powell Ave around 56th. The food is great, good size at a good price. It is quiet enough for conversion with lots of seating. There's parking and easy by bus.

or late Sunday afternoonos.

My schedule is all foobed up right now at work and filling in vacays and flu. But I would love to see Classy Gramma again and the regular irregulars.

Biggrin And I love Thai food.
