It was the episode where Flint takes the Walrus into a tropical storm to evade a British warship -- amazingly filmed, love tall ships.
Also on tap was HBO's WestWorld, where the robots are waking up to their situation.
Also John Oliver (Sunday night appointment viewing for me) and Divorce (Sarah Jessica Parker's new vehicle -- very well acted and written).
So, no, no "debate" for me.

Never in the history of our country have two such unfit-to-serve individuals been offered up by our deeply corrupt two party system for our consideration. I thought W was a national embarrassment, these two take absurdity of voting for the lesser evil to a whole new level.

Still, that’s one thing about living in Dresden in the former East, compared to the Frankfurt region.
Here it’s no particular shame to be on the bottom, almost everyone is on the bottom.
Were on the bottom when the Big Change came. Stayed on the bottom when the bankers, real-estate brokers, carpetbaggers, wheeler-dealers, and other assorted middlemen swept through like a pack of locusts.
They’re still on the bottom.
Do I feel glum sometimes about reduced circumstances compared to bygone eras in life when I was more affluent? To people here, that’s a “First-World problem” — they were born in the Second World and have yet to escape.
bomb Aleppo. She goes full confrontational against Putin. Trump goes full confrontational against everything Clinton had done in ME and is insulting her in ways I have never heard between politicians.
launched by the same people who are against Trump and back Hillary.
I guess we’re supposed to laugh at Trump, not because it’s wrong to engage in sneak attacks — that’s what the Hillary backers themselves do anyway, all the time —
. . . We’re supposed to laugh at him for thinking that sneak attacks work, get the job done, and can therefore be a one-off thing.
Because you know, the people with experience, they know that engaging in sneak attacks has to be the norm, a steady, constant, ongoing way of life, yearly, monthly, daily — just another part of our excellent adventure called the Forever War on Everyone.
either Trump or Clinton. Trump was basically a meandering mess that hit a bullseye every once in a while. Clinton spent a good time blaming Russia for her own faults. At least every once in a while Jill got to inject some sanity. From the little I saw, I suspect that Clinton will end up the "winner" of the debate again.
war crimes against the Yemen people.
Yesterday they intentionally bombed a funeral and then bombed the people who came to help.
Over 125 people were murdered and another 525+ were injured.
The UN is a flaccid organization because every time they threaten a country they have to back down because they let our government threaten them so why bother having an organization that can't do anything?
Our military is refueling their jets, our government is selling them weapons including cluster bombs that they use on civilian areas.
SA funded the terrorists that attacked this country and our government withheld the information from is for over 15 years.
Hillary's foundation made millions from selling them weapons and Bill made thousands giving speeches to them and no one in our government had a problem with that.
I don't know if Jill was elected if she could reign in the military because some people in it are ignoring Obama's orders to stand down.
If Hillary wins, expect more of these actions including a war with Russia.
So someone tell me how a Trump presidency could be worse than a Hillary one in regards to the wars we are engaged in everywhere?

Plus many of us provided them with links to reputable websites but we were still accused of linking to right wing websites or what we wrote was right wing talking points.

They just don't have time to keep up with all the Clinton misdeeds, my two very intelligent sons being part of this group. That's why I somewhat understand people seeing Clinton as the lesser evil.
The people that make me angry to the point of cutting them off my life are political junkies, retired, interested mostly in LatinAmerican politics and history, who up to know have shown to have some (a lot) understanding of US intervention and aggression v the rest of the world.
I could even give a pass if they thought Clinton was the lesser evil (not really because if they had been paying attention they would know her warmongering bloodthirst, but I am trying to not lose every single FB friend) The thing that stuck to my craw is the painting of Hillary as antidote to military loving Trump. They are either stupid or they think I am stupid, and that last is the part that I won't give a pass.
I'm also on Facebook. Please feel free to Friend me. If I ever get bought by Hillary, I'll say so! (Very unlikely to happen, I've said too many uncomplimentary things)

well known to players of team sports, called "playing down to your opponent's level". Sometimes you play a better team and their example causes you to improve your game: you play up to their level. But sometimes you play a rotten team, and it's like an infection.
These have to be the very worst debates I remember seeing - since Carter V Reagan in 1980 (I have no memory of any before that). Everyone is playing down to Trump's level - the level of blustering ignorance that is so characteristic of talk radio and morning jock banter. Moderators make no effort to draw out answers with more details, or to maintain any degree of seriousness. And both candidates - HRC especially - keep trundling out these insufferable prepared speechlets full of heart-rending anecdotes. Ugh. There is nothing enlightening here at all.
Anyone here ever read the Lincoln-Douglas debates? Now there's a model.

independent then why are we still importing so much oil from the Middle East and other areas?
Hillary will continue to let foreign companies use our lands to bring their energy resources through pipelines to be offshored to other countries.
Why don't those countries build their own infrastructure to ship that from their country?
Why does the American people need to risk the oil spills over our lands and waterways?
Is Hillary aware that the coal byproducts are stored in poor people's neighborhoods and risking their health and lives? I bet she does but doesn't care
Look at the huge huge petcho (?) coal piles outside of south Chicago belonging to the Koch brothers that coat the neighborhoods of people when the wind blows.
Rich and white affluent neighborhoods would never allow that.

Not the murder of innocents in the Middle East or even Honduras, I suppose? Or pay for play at the Foundation? Probably something stupid like why she stood by her man?

I don't even remember now
How pathetic is that? Maybe Trump will run with it, because the msm won't even mention it except for maybe Fox.
Sorry!
That's OK, if I thought it vitally important I'd watch the
debate myself. Overall, it sounds like both scored a few points and whoever likes whichever will claim they won, like last time.

Didn't watch
but can tell you Martha Raddatz is a friend of Clintons, also a co-host on Stephanopolous sunday show.
All are on the same team. Disgusting.
Martha The Interrupter
She used to interrupt Bernie on the Stephanopoulos show. Does it to others she's interviewing too. Trump called her out on it last night.

'Reality' TV is more enlightened than either of the two candidates who stand before us bloviating. Never in the history of our country have two such unfit-to-serve individuals been offered up by our deeply corrupt two party system for our consideration. I thought W was a national embarrassment, these two take absurdity of voting for the lesser evil to a whole new level.
Carnival barker vs. Mad Bomber. Perfect.

now, i'm drinking a 3-year-old blend that literally cost less than a penny per ml.
The earth is a multibillion-year-old sphere.
The Nazis killed millions of Jews.
On 9/11/01 a Boeing 757 (AA77) flew into the Pentagon.
AGCC is happening.
If you cannot accept these facts, I cannot fake an interest in any of your opinions.
Oh my, when I think of what I used to be able to afford . . .
Whatever happened to that “Miss me yet?” billboard with Dubya?
Whoever put it up might well think they’re having the last laugh.
(Or maybe it was never a billboard, just a “meme” — I forget.)
German TV ARD is broadcasting the debate live
in Germany and will have an analysis right afterwards.

I'm going to watch an old movie or something. Will check in to read updates on the ongoing train wreck, though.
By the end of the night, perhaps the rest of the country will join us in voting third party.
Thanks for watching so we don't have to!

Oh now Hillary goes after Russians the evil-doers who
bomb Aleppo. She goes full confrontational against Putin. Trump goes full confrontational against everything Clinton had done in ME and is insulting her in ways I have never heard between politicians.
Well, I can't listen anymore.

Trump's foreign policy
"Have a sneak attack and knock em all out at once."
Um, yea. It's that easy.
Stuxnet virus, or killing Iranian scientists, are a sneak attack
launched by the same people who are against Trump and back Hillary.
I was watching the Jill Stein version, but I couldn't take
either Trump or Clinton. Trump was basically a meandering mess that hit a bullseye every once in a while. Clinton spent a good time blaming Russia for her own faults. At least every once in a while Jill got to inject some sanity. From the little I saw, I suspect that Clinton will end up the "winner" of the debate again.
I am muting all but Jill n/t

The United States is complicit in Saudi Arabia's
war crimes against the Yemen people.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Harris is unburdened of speaking going forward.
If I had not obliterated
the idiot "friend" who wanted my pledge to vote for Hillary because...wait for this...she is not militaristic like Trump, I would send him your comment. There was so much to refute him that I forgot about Saudi Arabia and how the Clintons enriched themselves. On the other hand, someone who makes that kind of argument is either too stupid or knowingly telling falsehoods, so it would have been a waste of time.
I just cannot get over the idea of someone trying to sellme Hillary as peace loving.

I can't help but think your FB friend is simply woefully
uninformed. Too many people work too many hours to seek out real sources of information, they believe what they read in their local newspaper or see on network TV.
Please check out Pet Vet Help, consider joining us to help pets, and follow me @ElenaCarlena on Twitter! Thank you.
I agree that some people are too busy to seek out real
sources, but how to explain the people on DK that refused to accept see her as a warmonger even though her history of what she did as dos is plain to see?
Plus many of us provided them with links to reputable websites but we were still accused of linking to right wing websites or what we wrote was right wing talking points.
I wonder how many of them voted for Obama because of her Iraq vote and are now accepting that she said that her vote was a mistake?
Locking your keys in the car is a mistake.
Deliberately voting to invade a country on false pretenses is not a f'cking mistake? It's a deliberate and conscious decision to invade a sovereign nation.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

I honestly think they've been paid off.
I'd get banned if I accused them of being $hills, but I really think they are. She has had the money to buy off a lot of people.
And/Or they swallowed the "fear Trump" Kool-Aid and the "Jill can't win" self-fulfilling prophecy and are desperately hoping Hill's not as bad as we make her out to be.
Please check out Pet Vet Help, consider joining us to help pets, and follow me @ElenaCarlena on Twitter! Thank you.
I know lots of people like that,
They just don't have time to keep up with all the Clinton misdeeds, my two very intelligent sons being part of this group.
Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur.
So this is someone you know is knowledgeable. Sounds like
s/he got eaten by the pod people, doesn't it?
I'm also on Facebook. Please feel free to Friend me. If I ever get bought by Hillary, I'll say so! (Very unlikely to happen, I've said too many uncomplimentary things)

There is a phenomenon
well known to players of team sports, called "playing down to your opponent's level".
People were smarter back then.
I'm absolutely convinced that the height of human intellectual thought occurred during the nineteenth century.
It's been downhill ever since.
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
hey, there were no kardashians to distract the folk.
so lincoln and douglas each stood up and spoke for hours.
amazing to think that there was a time when the life-and-deaths concerns of politics were given the full consideration that their practical, ethical implications warranted.

This is the first one I remember. My dad's side of the family
was big into Democratic politics, local and national. At least they were for the first Irish Catholic candidate, that's for damn sure. And these guys weren't debating about grabbing genitals and covering up for a husbands predatory dirty deeds.
EDIT: Some really poor grammar

Hillary talking about the
Hillary talking about the supreme court and helping voters...oh I wanted to puke. She did so much to take away those freedoms.
Can't believe a thing she says.
Hillary offers nothing and that's her problem
Trump is awful but occasionally tells the truth. When he does she comes across as a big zero.
Yup, Trump says it directly
Yup, Trump says it directly and simply. Hillary only dodges. Now they're on energy.
Natural gas is a bridge fuel
And we have to remain energy independent. Does that mean we have to keep fracking? Where does she think we are getting all this NG?
"I have a plan to help us revitalize coal country" because jobs matter more than the earth.
Funny how no one bothers to ask if we need to remain energy
independent then why are we still importing so much oil from the Middle East and other areas?
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Harris is unburdened of speaking going forward.
Better yet, the sun and wind are found in every county so
isn't that energy independence for all?
"The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?" ~Orwell, "1984"
Absolutely. Oklahoma switched to wind power for OK City
and utility bills went down. I have friends who live there. They have the capability to build enough wind turbines to power 1/3 of the US just in OK.
We have the technology. We can switch to 100% renewables in a year or two. The only reason for Hill's incrementalism is so the fossil fuel lobby makes money. It's criminal negligence allowing any further climate change at this point, IMHO.
Please check out Pet Vet Help, consider joining us to help pets, and follow me @ElenaCarlena on Twitter! Thank you.
Now that's what I like to hear
"We have the technology. We can switch to 100% renewables in a year or two."
Would you care to throw me a link or two on that, if you happen to have a good one handy? I would love to be able to say those words out loud, but definitely need some data to back it up.
Venezuela is now importing U.S. oil
Believe it or not, Venezuela is importing oil from the U.S. now.
"We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty."
No one is answering any questions.
Just lines from old speeches. I am not shocked, just depressed. Good thing for Stein.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
There are tens of thousands of coal miners with jaws dropped
at Clinton claiming she understands them better than anyone who has run this year.

*barf*!
This shit is bananas.
Yes! I was just going to say, "OMG, what is she wearing?"
What is with her and the potholder pantsuits?
I mean really, what she wears is the least of her sins, and she shouldn't look like she spends a lot of money on designer outfits; but with all her money can she not find a decent image consultant?? I could take her to my Walmart and have her looking better, with several outfits for a total of less than $100.

Looks like she is leaving the psych ward
No offense, please, but I come from a long line of schizophrenics who periodically needed hospitalization and that's how they looked when we picked them up: musmatched, unappealing clothes and the faraway look. I feel the need to add that this was their only similarity with this woman. My aunts and uncles were kind, loving people and a lot of fun.
Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur.
Final question...what do you
Final question...what do you respect about the other candidate? The audience laughed....
Hillary respects Donald's children. Then railroaded the question.
Trump gracious about the "compliment". Donald respects her "not giving up" "she is a fighter". Doesn't like her judgement though.
Those are pretty decent answers. Tough question under the
circumstances. Except I would have said OranguTrump's daughter, given that his sons like to shoot big beautiful animals. I have no respect for sport hunters, sorry.

That last question
If it wasnt for my wife, I would need a new tv and remote right now
When I was a kid, Republicans used to red scare people, now it's the Democrats. I am getting too damn old for this crap!
ok, it's over, I didn't rejoice, I got nothing out of it.
It's really superfluous.

Huma is there.
She must be back from her leave.
I was watching on the MSNBC site
and during the entire debate they had this bar graph of live survey result (of I guess audience members?) showing:
disagree (red) <___> agree (blue)
broken down by party (w/ indies) across whole the bottom third of the screen.
Completely annoying and ridiculously rigged: every time Trump spoke the swing went 95% disagree (even for Republicans) and every time Hillary spoke it went 95% agree (even for Republicans).
They really do think we're morons.
