Lamar Smith Subpeonas FBI

Busy day for the Congress Critter!

From The Hill

Republican chairman subpoenas the FBI for Clinton server interviews

The article reminds us that earlier this month, Smith and Ron Johnson requested (pdf) that Loretta Lynch provide notes and other materials from interviews with IT personnel (Pagliano, Cooper and PRN) who took care of the Clinton email server(s) by 9/16/16. None were received, so now a subpoena has been sent to Comey with a deadline of 9/26/16.

Smith is investigating the security protections in place on Clinton’s server to determine if “amendments” to a certain federal cybersecurity framework are necessary.

“The committee is convinced that former Secretary Clinton’s unusual server and network arrangement necessitates amendments to the Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014 (FISMA),” according to a release.

“The Committee continues to have questions about the structure and security of the email system used by former Secretary Clinton and whether she and her staff employed cybersecurity standards required by FISMA.”

Apparently, some Democrats are objecting that Smith is acting at the behest of the Trump campaign (personally, I don't see any evidence that Trump and his peeps have been following this at all closely).

They're all superdelegates who backed Clinton even before Bernie jumped in to challenge her. If she goes down, the Congress is gonna stay Red and they sorry sons-of-bitches will be out looking for real work. And why didn't Comey press his "investigation" to really look into her security breaches, other than to say there were breaches?

I keep wondering what Clinton has on him. I cringed and did not click earlier when I saw something which said that Comey previously didn't investigate the Clintons... wonder if I can trace my steps back. What makes paying attention to this stuff so hard is that one cannot un-see what one learns. I don't want to know the world works this way...

One of my favorite tricks of the Clintons when they were in the White House, and her Rose Law Firm records were subpoenaed and she COULD NOT FIND THEM. What a joke! Then those very same records ages later suddenly just "turned up" in the family quarters of the White House.

When the Clintons lie, somehow, they don't think it's still a lie. Strange.

Those "misplaced" Rose Law firm records didn't turn up until just after the statute of limitations had ran out.

Seriously, how do they get away with this?
Maggie Williams was SEEN walking out of Vince Foster's office with FILESin her hands, shortly after his death was announced. She was seen. When testifying before Congress and asked if she took files out of his office, she DENIED it. She LIED.
This has happened so often with the Clintons and their sycophants. Seems they've really learned, just lie, deny, and keep denying - end of story.

DOG, can't even bear to think of all of them back in the White House. Including David Brock! Remember when we thought Dick Morris was bad news. This could be worse than hideous.

For their role in Castle Grande and other matters, the McDougals went on trial. HRC has professed complete ignorance. “I don’t believe I knew anything about any of these real estate parcels and projects,” she proclaimed in her deposition to the RTC. The RTC and the independent counsel asked Rose for billing records to buttress HRC’s assertions. Both the firm and the White House claimed they could not be located. Two days after the statute of limitations expired on the Castle Grande dealings, the records were miraculously discovered on a table in an office used by HRC to store papers in their private White House residence. The records show she billed Madison for 60 hours of work on the Castle Grande deal.

Yes, there were crimes and scandals involved in Whitewater. One of the most telling sentences in this article is this one:

“Whitewater” represents a pervasive character trait of the Clintons: the exchange of money for political favors. It also represents a trait that caused an uproar when William Safire drew attention to it in 1995: namely, HRC’s untrammeled propensity to tell lies.http://www.counterpunch.org/2015/10/30/the-clinton-files-is-hillary-a-cr...

That is an excellent article and it lays out what exactly it was that the Clinton, mainly Shillary, were up to back in those days. I guess for a while there money WAS a problem for them. But only due to her corrupt actions.

TWO EDITS. Both due to typos. I'm a pathetic mess this morning. Oh my. It's 4:54 a.m. I need to lay down some time. I was up at 7 yesterday morning. I am being treated for insomnia. The Clintons seem to lie, evade, intimidate their own way out of ever being indicted in crime after crime. The people around them, however, do end up in jail. I wouldn't put it past Hillary to throw Huma or Cheryl Mills under the bus for the foundation stuff while she was at State Department.

I think it is already apparent that the Clintons plan to pin as much of the e-mail scandal on their IT people as possible.

Actually, I've never compared Clinton or anybody else to a germ or vermin, because IMO that's a dangerous/bad linguistic practice--way way worse than calling somebody a bigoted bad word--but if I did insult her by calling her Ebola, I'd feel I was being unfair to the virus.

Some of this is not the result of malfeasance. Cities tend to be more Democratic, so that voting pool is more concentrated, people tend to be influenced by where they live, migrate to places that reflect their culture, etc.

But it's also true that the Democratic Party leadership demonstrably DOES NOT WANT the majority. Tim Kaine is being rewarded for getting rid of the 50 state strategy as DNC Chair. The party refuses to fund or support progressives, even when they win their primaries (last I heard, DCCC was refusing to help Teachout). They intentionally leave some seats unopposed for the Republicans to take, even when local Democrats want to run for the seat. (Down with Tyranny is good with granular reporting on this.) This is even though voters continually reject corporate Dems, often electing them one time and then tossing them out as soon as they vote like Republicans. The Democratic Party just pukes up another corporate/"formerly" Republican Democrat to run, and the cycle begins again.

You can see why that would be. Obama's first two years were quite awkward, because he had a workable majority in both houses. They had to go to a lot of trouble to create the necessary roadblocks to be able to pretend they COULDN'T pass citizen-preferred policy over the corporate-preferred policy of their owners.

They found out in 2009 if they actually won an election they'd be expected to deliver on some of the phony promises they always make. Good thing they still had they filibuster to hide behind. Of course, losing elections doesn't really threaten the party leaders' power or perks. Not losing to a Republican, anyway. If Bernie Sanders had been allowed to win the primary, OTOH, a lot of them would be out on their asses.

When the democrats are in charge, the republicans use filibusters and private holds against the bills that they don't want passed.
But for some reason the democrats never used those things when they were the minority party.
I remember when Cheney went to congress to pass the winning vote when it was tied at 50-50.
And then when the democrats were once again in the majority for some damned reason it took 60 votes to pass a bill.
How many diaries were there on TOS telling the democrats to use the nuclear option Yet they never did.
That's when I knew that it was just kabuki theater.
Plus 7 years ago Amy Goodman had an ex congress member on her show and he admitted that the parties took turns being in charge.
And it wasn't only Kaine who got to keep his job.
DWS lost both houses of congress and many state governors yet she too kept her job. My opinion for that was because Obama wanted the republicans in charge so that he can pass the TPP.
And how did people know a year before the election that the democrats would be losing so many seats? It's kinda like it was pre ordained. Or planned, you pick.

When the democrats promised us that if we put them in power that they would roll back the Bush abuses.
So we did and what happened? Pelosi said that "impeachment was off the table because they had to keep their powder dry"
So they continued to fund the wars in Afghanistan that was started to getBin Laden even though they knew that he had fled to Pakistan.
And then instead of bringing the troops home, for some reason the mission was to fight the Taliban who had nothing to do with 9/11.
Plus after no WMDs were found and Saddam was hanged, the troops had to stay in Iraq because if they came home then all of the troops that had died would have died in vain.
Next Obama campaigned on ending the Iraq war as soon as possible, but then we found out that he was trying to keep the troops in Iraq after the SOFA but the Iraqi government wouldn't agree to his terms so there was a big excitement when the last troops rolled out of Iraq.
But guess what? Obama made a deal with the Iraqi government to put a few 'adviser' troops back in Iraq and the Iraqi government told him how many he could put back. And as usual the US didn't adhere to the rules and there are many more troops in Iraq over the government's objections.

The Clinton email server had to be taken offline for a few days because it had been hacked. She told someone to call Justin to fix it.
This information came out during her deposition to judicial watch.
So if it had been hacked, who did it and what information did they get?
Is congress and the FBI aware of all the information that judicial watch has exposed?
And why wasn't Sidney Bluementhal charged under the espionage act for stealing classified information from the NSA and passing it on to Hillary who removed his name from the email and passed it on to Obama?

The GOP died this weekend
By Jennifer Rubin September 19

... No matter what Hillary Clinton’s faults — and they are many — it is hard to seriously argue that a man who would lead a racist conspiracy theory and then try to blame his opponent is fit to be president. Trump, like a small child caught misbehaving, simply denies the evidence or blames someone else or lashes out in anger. ...

... A party whose congressional leaders remain supportive of a nominee who incites violence, perpetuates racism, blatantly, and traffics in conspiracy theories loses the moral authority to govern. ...

...Actively defending, excusing, covering up and minimizing Trump’s birtherism puts Republicans in the exact camp as David Duke, the alt-right and other white supremacists. They should not be welcome in whatever party follows the GOP. ...

Good article, but it brought to mind: how about a woman who tries to falsely call the supporters of her deeply honourable Dem nomination opponent racist and sexist for not supporting her instead and who, when caught misbehaving - or engaging in outright criminal acts - denies the evidence, blames someone (or virtually everyone) else and/or lashes out in anger? Is anyone like that fit to be President and rent out the White House bedrooms for extra Clinton cash?

What about a party which not only supports but cheats in a nominee who commits wide-scale violence and invasion of other people's countries for corporate gain and promises much more to her big donors, permits the chronic and casual police harassment/false arrest/beating and murder of citizens of Colour to continue, and defrauds their own Party voters of voting rights in their own nominations if not for their long pre-selected corporate candidate? Do they have the moral authority to govern?

To paraphrase from the article: ...Actively defending, excusing, covering up and minimizing Hillary's endless and profitable-for-her/donors 'mistakes' and lies puts the Democratic Party in the exact camp as the Republicans - corporate/billionaire stooges. They should not be welcome in whatever party follows the Dems. ... ...It’s been deeply upsetting to see so many voters buy into the Clinton lies and conspiracies. “Aren’t we better than that?” The verdict will not be pretty on the voters who supported her, but going forward the goal must be to never again nominate someone who appeals to our most negative, darkest impulses. ...

It sucks through serpent's fangs when 'both sides (really do) do it'...

so much cognitive dissonance.

But more importantly, what's in the drinking water of the 11% to make them think such a crazy thing?!

A recent NBC News poll found that just 11 percent of Americans say Clinton is honest and trustworthy. To put that in perspective, 14 percent of American voters believe in Bigfoot. In other words, more Americans believe that a large, hairy, hominoid creature inhabits the forest of North America than believe that Hillary Clinton tells the truth.

And if only 11% believe her, how is she getting 46% in the polls?
