How Trump or Clinton can get my vote

I am not going to shut the door on voting for anyone. None of you should, either. Keeping an open mind is essential for a healthy democratic system.
Playing this game of voting for the lesser evils is not something that I want to play anymore. The first candidate to endorse a ranked choice voting system or an approval based voting system gets my vote.
That's it. It is very, very simple.
We need to have a national discussion about electoral reform. An endorsement from one of the two would start this conversation.
Yes, Donald Trump, yes, Hillary Clinton. I can vote for one of you. An empty promise is better than nothing because no one is talking about this on the top right now. Just to get them talking about it, that is all I want.

Your candidate is Jill Stein,
Your candidate is Jill Stein, who has been talking about ranked choice voting for some time now. I agree, it would solve the voting for the lesser of two evils problem.
yup, I went to hear Stein speak today
and she talked about ranked choice voting at some length.
Be that as it may
None of the top two are talking about it. I am giving them an opportunity to win me over if they endorse it. Jill Stein is a fine candidate, but lets face it, in a two party system there is no way she can win right now. If the top two candidates start talking about electoral reform, that will change everything.

What?
No, I am giving them a chance to change my mind.
If they don't I will vote Stein.
how about the timeshare salesmen?
You might as well give them a chance to change your mind

I can't help but laugh at people who tell me that if
Trump or Hillary would only "say" __________________________, I would/might vote for them. WTF, neither of them could tell the truth if their lives depended on it; and o, An empty promise is NOT better than nothing. At best, an empty promise is nothing. At worst, it is a lie.
If you feel a need to fool yourself into voting for one of the other establishment candidates, that's too bad. I have made up my mind. The duopoly needs to die. If it is close in MI, and it is right now, I will vote for Trump to make sure that the thieving, lying Clintons lose. If it isn't close, I'll vote for Stein. Until we can hurt the Democrats, they will ignore us. When we can hurt them, we'll finally have an drip of power.

Please all. Chime in with the meaning of "No".
Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
Here's my way of saying "No" to that:

here's how Clinton or Trump can get my vote
uhh....umm....
I guess my mind is made up against both of them. There's nothing they can do because they're both untrustworthy. Nothing they say or do (that I'd like) is believable. Even if one became President and did something good, I'd expect it to be revoked the next day.
Guess what
That leaves only Stein able to get my vote. She full on endorses electoral reform, and is the only candidate able to be trusted on the matter. But hey, if it's only the two liars you care about, I guess Trump's your guy, because at least he's talked about the electoral system being rigged/riggable. Plus, if he gets elected, the establishment may talk about changing the system themselves, though probably more in favor of themselves.
How They Can Win My Vote, You Ask?
They can't.

ranked choice voting is a referendum issue on Maine's November ballot.

Will that apply to federal elections? Can the states do that?
If so, that might be something we can all do in our home states.

IANAL
It developed as a reaction to LePage's non-majority victories among multiple candidates. I think it applies to state level elections only.

There is no new information that would change my mind
Keeping an open mind sounds nice, but really what information could we receive in the next few weeks that would make it OK to vote for either major party nominee? I can't imagine anything that would make either one acceptable.
We are told that this is the most consequential election of our lifetimes. Michele Bachmann says, cryptically, that this will be "the last election." But there is nothing I can do besides vote for the candidate of my choice, Jill Stein.

I remember reading an Ann Landers column in which she said that, but the quote has been attributed to a bunch of other folks, too. No matter who said it, I think it's good advice, especially when dealing with toxic, dysfunctional people and situations (which certainly describes the current state of political affairs.)

Bill Hicks on voting
It seemed totally apropos. After all, politicians don't listen to the masses. They make stuff up and hope we like it. So it stands to reason we're going to have to change the politicians first, and then get better voting later.
The ruling classes need an extra party to make the rest of us feel as if we participate in democracy. That's what the Democrats are for. They make the US more durable than the Soviet Union was.
Oh, and Bill Hicks on the politicians?
He'd be fun to have around, now.
