If this site disappears for the weekend it's to prevent the implosion it's headed for. Please folks, take your fingers off of the self destruct buttons.
Update: I'm joking about taking the site offline for the weekend, but I have to admit that it is tempting.
If people are that addicted to the toobz, may be they should take a good long break!

And there's no way to moderate it as they are discussions that split us down the middle, so there's no solution for moderation that doesn't piss off half of the membership. Almost any picture program can resize. Paint can do it. Just open your image with paint, click "resize," make it 50% or whatever will make it small enough, "save as" whatever you want, probably a jpeg file. It shouldn't take long or be too complicated.

in the editor. Usually all you need to do is add (width="500") (without the parenthesis) right after the last quotation mark that wraps the image URL, make sure you skip a space. You can also add a height attribute in the same way if needed. It's easier and faster that way.
I put a 2mb limit on them in an attempt to save on storage space. I could increase the size limit but they would still be much to large pixel-wise and would still need to be resized. A 500p width image is generally in the kb size so 2mb is actually overkill in and of itself.
Nope, it says the image is too large. Maximum 500 x 800. "Upload failed." The message fades pretty quickly, so I didn't quite read all of it. So that was a skunk image on my hard drive that says it's a jpeg file, 1600 x 1200, 604 KB. I shrunk it to 800 x 600 (114 KB) and that uploads fine. For the smaller image, your file browser says it resized it to fit max dimensions; as you can see, it is now 500 x 375. But I guess it can't resize from really large dimensions. To get it to upload, I shrunk the skunk.

If the image file is online, supply its URL (web address) in the space provided and click OK. If the image file is on your own computer rather than on the Internet, you'll need to upload it. I just checked, Leu2500...
and the HTML code is correct so it must be a problem with the image URL.
I had been trying to post from Flickr.
Is that a problem?
Please try one from your hard drive and see if that works
for you? I would think Flickr would be okay, but I haven't tried any sources like that. I'm always afraid the photos will disappear at some point.
Please check out Pet Vet Help, consider joining us to help pets, and follow me @ElenaCarlena on Twitter! Thank you.
OK, I found the problem...
in your first image the extension was .pngc, after removing the c it worked because .png is a proper image extension and .pngc is not.
Your second image doesn't have an extension at all. Is the image a .jpg, .png, or something similar? Without an extension the image will not display.
I wonder if you can just stick an extension on it, JtC?
I've been able to do that with some images on my hard drive when they didn't download properly on first go-round.
Please check out Pet Vet Help, consider joining us to help pets, and follow me @ElenaCarlena on Twitter! Thank you.
I tried...
.jpg, .jpeg, and .png and none of them worked so maybe the image name was wrong or had a less traditional extension.
Thanks!
No idea why they are like that, but that must be the problem with the image.
Leu 2500...
are you by any chance uploading the images from a pad or phone?
iPad.
But I was able to post a pic from Flickr finally - I need to not do it from the app.
I'm pretty sure...
that iPads may strip out the image extension when you put them on your pad, but I may be wrong about that. If that is the case, when you upload them to our site they get uploaded without an extension. Google "Ipads+image extensions" and see if that helps.
I post all of my images from my iPad
the only problem I have occasionally is it says that the image is too large, so I email it to myself at a lower size and that works.
Scientists are concerned that conspiracy theories may die out if they keep coming true at the current alarming rate.

Thanks, yeahyouright, I use Photogallery.
My images are all larger than 2mbs which is over the limit allowed. Takes about the same time as having to upload to photobucket then....
The process does take me longer --and has more steps -- than say, posting my images on FB does, etc .
But hey, it's all good.
Have a great weekend!
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
You can also do it within the code...
in the editor. Usually all you need to do is add (width="500") (without the parenthesis) right after the last quotation mark that wraps the image URL, make sure you skip a space. You can also add a height attribute in the same way if needed. It's easier and faster that way.
I think if they're bigger than 2 Mbs, they won't even upload
here. A few, fortunately not many, of my pics have needed to be shrunk before I uploaded.
But yes, once loaded, after I hit "Send to Editor," I tell them "500" or whatever width makes them look best and erase the height attribute.
Please check out Pet Vet Help, consider joining us to help pets, and follow me @ElenaCarlena on Twitter! Thank you.
If you use the site uploader...
you should be able to upload that size and it should automatically resize the image. That doesn't happen?
Sorry, JtC, they are over 2gb each not 2 mb
my bad.
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.

Yeah...
I put a 2mb limit on them in an attempt to save on storage space. I could increase the size limit but they would still be much to large pixel-wise and would still need to be resized. A 500p width image is generally in the kb size so 2mb is actually overkill in and of itself.
Let me see, I'll find one I've shrunk in the past.
To get it to upload, I shrunk the skunk.

that's a good thing, we could eat up a lot of the site's storage space if size was unlimited.

Site being shut down? People telling each other to breathe (FFS) and judging the BeJesus out of each other?!?!!! Has the site been hacked? What happened to the C99ers?
Can't, don't want to, believe it.
Just a few disruptors, but quite active this week.
