Leaked “Democratic Party memo” admits U.S. war in Iraq fueled rise of ISIS

This on Salon news today:

Guccifer 2.0, the hacker (or group of hackers) that has leaked internal Democratic Party documents, published on Wednesday what it says are documents from the personal computer of Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic minority leader of the House of Representatives.

Among the documents is an October 2014 memo titled “ISIS Backgrounder” that was allegedly sent by Mike Ryan, policy director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, or DCCC, the official arm of the Democratic Party in the House.

The alleged DCCC memo provides Democratic candidates with two pages of talking points to use when discussing the self-declared Islamic State. The document admits that the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq and the subsequent sectarian policies of the U.S.-backed Iraqi government incited extremism.

In the section on the origins of ISIS, the summary reads, “Our invasion created the atmosphere for a Jordanian to start a Muslim sectarian war, which ultimately created ISIS.”

It also says, “When the U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003 we triggered a massive insurgency against our presence.” This insurgency against the U.S. invasion and occupation was exploited by extremists like Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of the Sunni fascist organization al-Qaeda in Iraq.

gee, tells us something we don't already know (speaking to the Salon writer). Did we not say that kind of thing would happen, before Bush launched an illegal war on Iraq? Did we not protest in the streets against this illegal war? Did we not say, "hey, this poop will spread, will get out of control and will not stop!" Wacko

We (expletive) told you people this poop would happen, but of course, we, the unwashed masses, why listen to us, we don't know bovine droppings.

Yeah, right...

He (rightly) defended the decision to NOT invade Iraq, by detailing the kind of ugly, inner-city, bogged-down, war-against-insurgency an invasion would turn in to. But then W and his PNAC advisors decided that he was wrong, and they would show the old man how to do it! Oh, wait...

I am frequently mystified by the brain-dead, arrogant assumption that just because WE are the invaders, that other nations should be HAPPY to have us invade them. Yet, if ANY foreign power were to try that with this nation, I suspect that we would hand them the Mother of All Insurgencies.

Remember "-they will throw flowers at the feet of our soldiers."? Around that time, I particularly relished asking NRA members, whether they would throw flowers at the feet of, for instance, Chinese soldiers, if they invaded tomorrow.

I guess ISIS didn't get that memo about throwing flowers. -But the far more amazing thing, is that the Democrats NEEDED a memo to connect the dots for them.

ISIS was purposely created, it wasn't just a byproduct of the Iraq invasion. ISIS is basically an extension of Al Qaeda, purposely created in the late 70's, 80's to act as a proxy army against Russia in Afghanistan. The sectarian "war" was instigated under the Bush admin and reported on by Sy Hersh in "The Redirection". ISIS has been backed, funded, armed and guided by external powers led by the US and the CIA, just like Al Qaeda.
Blowback creating ISIS is a false narrative the powers that be are now comfortable with, same things Trump has said and was reported in the mainstream media.

Fact #1: “Our government armed Osama bin Laden and the Mujahideen in Afghanistan and created al-Qaeda.”

Fact #2: “Our government put Saddam Hussein into power – we helped supply and create chemical weapons for him to use against Iran in 1980 – and then we overthrew him in 2003.”

Fact #3: “Our government trained rebel fighters in Syria who would become the group today known as ISIS. We have watched them commit every violent atrocity you can imagine to people living in Iraq and Syria, and now we want American taxpayers to fund a 30-year war with them.”

Didn't figure this out until 2014...

Despite our amateur intelligence knowledge having us know full well what would happen for a decade before the Village Idiot of Crawford Texas upset the apple cart in the Middle East with the help of HRC...

With experts like these rammed down out throats as candidates perhaps the best choice of diplomacy for this country is isolationism...
