Judicial Watch: New Abedin Emails Reveal Top Clinton Foundation Executive Doug Band Sought Diplomatic Passport from Clinton State Department
Embedded links available at original:
Abedin responded to Band request: ‘Ok will figure it out’
Emails also reveal Bill Clinton/Doug Band Sought State Department Favors for Foundation Supporters Andrew Liveris, Chris Ruddy, and Lynn de Rothschild
(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch today released 510 pages of new State Department documents, including a 2009 request by Clinton Foundation executive Doug Band for diplomatic passports for himself and an associate. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s aide Abedin responded to Band’s request positively, saying, “Ok will figure it out.” The emails show Hillary Clinton forwarding classified information to Abedin’s unsecured, non-state.gov account. The emails also show Bill Clinton sought a meeting with Mrs. Clinton for a major Clinton donor with State Department officials and Hillary Clinton herself pushed for a joint event with the Clinton Global Initiative. Band also pushed for and obtained special help from Abedin for seven-figure Clinton Foundation donor Chris Ruddy, of Newsmax.com.
Although an exchange sent from Sidney Blumenthal to Hillary Clinton concerning the “disastrous nature of the Obama trip” and the U.S. being “totally out of the loop in Berlin – no ambassador” with the expectation that “Germans and Russians will now cut their own separate deals on energy, regional security, etc….” had previously published by the State Department, it was unknown until now that Clinton forwarded this exchange containing classified information that was redacted for security reasons to Abedin’s unsecure non-state.gov account
The new documents included 37 Hillary Clinton email exchanges not previously turned over to the State Department, bringing the known total to date of such emails uncovered by Judicial Watch to 228 of new Clinton emails (not part of the 55,000 pages of emails that Clinton turned over to the State Department). These records further appear to contradict statements by Clinton that, “as far as she knew,” all of her government emails were turned over to the State Department.
The Band request was for a special diplomatic passport for himself and his associates – an unidentified “JD” and apparently Justin Cooper, formerly a key member of Bill Clinton’s personal office and the Clinton Foundation who has been linked to registration documents for and the shutting down of the email server at the center of Mrs. Clinton’s State Department emails controversy.
The Band-Abedin exchange went as follows:

The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations strictly limits the granting of diplomatic passports to members of the Foreign Service, their family members, or those working on U.S. government contracts. According to 22 CFR 51.3:
A diplomatic passport is issued to a Foreign Service officer or to a person having diplomatic status or comparable status because he or she is traveling abroad to carry out diplomatic duties on behalf of the U.S. Government. When authorized by the Department, spouses and family members of such persons may be issued diplomatic passports. When authorized by the Department, a diplomatic passport may be issued to a U.S. Government contractor if the contractor meets the eligibility requirements for a diplomatic passport and the diplomatic passport is necessary to complete his or her mission.
The newly released Abedin emails also contain additional instances of the Clinton State Department’s granting special favors to major contributors to the Clinton Foundation. A July 27, 2009, exchange of emails begins with Abedin advising Clinton scheduler Lona Valmoro that “wjc” (William Jefferson Clinton) wants special treatment for high-dollar Foundation donor and Dow Chemical’s CEO Andrew Liveris. Dow donated between $1 million and $5 million to the Clinton Foundation, making it one of the largest corporate donors in Foundation history.

The Abedin emails include a mid-August 2009, email exchange in which Band urges Abedin to follow up on a request from Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy to set up a meeting with then-Ambassador to Panama Barbara Stephenson on behalf of lobbyist Amb. Otto Reich, President Reagan’s ambassador to Venezuela who maintained high-level government positions during the tenure of both President George H.W. Bush and President George Bush. In early September, Ruddy then was contacted by State Department Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Roberta S. Jacobson, at the behest of Band and Abedin, in reference to Ruddy’s concerns about Wilson Lucom, whose estate was embroiled in a heated multi-million-dollar lawsuit. Ruddy’s Newsmax Media Inc, made a contribution to the Clinton Foundation of between $1 million and $5 million. The emails show the responsible official was put in contact with Ruddy.

The new Abedin emails also include an email exchange between Sidney Blumenthal and the then-Secretary of State in which Blumenthal proposes a Clinton Global Initiative meeting in Ireland. Hillary Clinton forwarded Blumenthal’s email to Abedin, Cheryl Mills, and Doug Band saying, “I think this is a good idea and see no conflict.” Band then responded that he and Bill Clinton think it is as “great idea.”
Again, Hillary Clinton’s involvement in CGI violates her ethics pledge to stay of out of Clinton Foundation and Clinton Global Initiative business. Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton on January 5, 2009, in a letter to State Department Designated Agency Ethics Official James H. Thessin:
“For the duration of my appointment as Secretary if I am confirmed, I will not participate personally and substantially in any particular matter involving specific parties in which The William J. Clinton Foundation (or the Clinton Global Initiative) is a party or represents a party….”
In an email exchange in late August 2009, billionaire businesswoman Lynn Forester de Rothschild intervened directly with then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to set up a Parade magazine interview for journalist Les Gelb, assuring Clinton, “He said he would give you a veto over content and looked me in the eye and said, ‘she will like it.’” Abedin then instructed State Department aide Phillip Reines. Reines acquiesced responding, “Yes, we’re trying to find a date that works for Les, but he is a little, shall we say, picky.” Rothschild is a longtime Clinton Foundation supporter who in mid-May of this year held a $100,000-a-plate fundraiser for the presidential candidate.
Also in the documents is an August 2009 communication from Hillary Clinton to her aides Abedin and Lauren Jiloty asking for the phone numbers of Declan Kelly, Clinton’s former economic envoy to Northern Ireland who is co-founder and CEO of Teneo.
“The idea that the State Department would even consider a diplomatic passport for Clinton Foundation executives is beyond belief,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “These emails show various violations of national security laws and ethics rules and further confirm that Hillary and Bill Clinton are personally implicated in the Clinton Foundation pay to play scandal.”
This is the eleventh set of records produced for Judicial Watch by the State Department from the non-state.gov email accounts of Huma Abedin. The documents were produced under a court order in a May 5, 2015, Freedom of Information (FOIA) lawsuit against the State Department (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:15-cv-00684)) requiring the agency to produce “all emails of official State Department business received or sent by former Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin from January 1, 2009 through February 1, 2013, using a ‘non-state’.gov email address.”
On August 22, Judicial Watch released 725 pages of new State Department documents, including previously unreleased email exchanges in which Hillary Clinton top aide Huma Abedin provided influential Clinton Foundation donors special, expedited access to the secretary of state. In many instances, the preferential treatment provided to donors was at the specific request of Clinton Foundation executive Douglas Band.

a diplomatic passport provides immunity from ANY FORM OF DETENTION OR PROSECUTION in the country(ies) to which the "diplomat" is assigned, and also provides immunity from detention or prosecution by any country(ies) through which the "diplomat" passes on his/her way to/from the assignment. This includes total immunity for the "diplomatic" baggage (which is regarded legally as an extension of the "diplomat's" person) while in transit -- consequently, diplomatic passports are a favored tool of the smugglers' trade --

Off topic, but the amount of money spent on state dinners and other WH functions is staggering.
I doubt that any of the people who attend these events even give a second of thought to the hundreds of thousands of people in this country who are food challenged.

It takes the government to bring a criminal case. Maybe those 50 republicans who asked lynch to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the foundation will get one. Maybe the justice dept can't wiggle out of the congressional perjury investigation.
Does anyone know what the benefits
Of a diplomatic passport are?
And this, this is rich.
Newsmax is one of the right wingiest of the right wing outfits. Why would it's head donate to the foundation (access of course) and Hillary's aides are doing favors for it? But Hillary hates all that stuff they write about her. Guess not so much.

These people live in another world
that I have glimpsed once or twice. Once you are in, there are so many perks. In this world you basically get paid a lot for doing piss all and you don't even need to interact with plebs. Private jet or first class travel paid for. Limousine paid for. Fine dining paid for. Crazy expensive hotel suite paid for. Meet, exchange a few pleasantries and get paid handsomely. Reward your benefactors with favors like putting them on the board of advisors for your corporation or organization.
Hmm. Smuggling.
I've always had a hard time believing that the Clintons willing pay a 30% federal tax rate. Suitcases of cash to a Swiss bank account would avoid that while leaving the tax returns looking good for public release.
Pure speculation of course.
They have work arounds -
I don't have a link at my fingertips, but when one looks at the donor pages of the Clinton Foundation, my recollection is that on the $5-$10 mil page you'll find the Clinton Family Foundation as a donor to the 'main,' if you will, Clinton Foundation. So any money they 'earn' which they donate to their family foundation goes against what taxes they owe, I believe. I don't have a head (or the finances) for this kind of stuff, but I'm sure it offsets what they pay in some fashion.

Nothing to see here, folks. It's just "tradition"
When the beloved "Coke" was first marketed, before it became associate with rotting teeth, expanding waist-lines and rust-free car bumpers, it was originally marketed as a "tonic". The coca in cola-cola comes from cocaine, the first legally-marketed non-caffeine "pick-me-up". Now being a lover of trait ion, the Coca-Cola company is just making plans to re-start the company's original product, cocaine-cola. I don't see a problem. It's just tradition.

Does anyone know if there is a reputable (i.e., not right-wing rag) website that has summarized all these Clinton issues that are actually well-supported? No one in congress is going to have time or even bother to look at any web page links they might be sent in an email. Nor will they pay attention if every time a new Clinton finding comes out they receive an email. They will need a regular letter, mailed through USPS, that outlines every important revelation with an appropriate reference for each to the relevant, original, website. Or copies included with the letter.
I'm sure it's not all neatly summarized

None of this would be germane to a presidential impeachment. But it shows the utter arrogance and disregard for just simple propriety. I noticed at TOP that Dems are more than happy to allow Clinton family involvement with the Clinton Foundation and even 6-figure speeches by Bill if she wins. I can't see how the Clinton's can walk away from the money power of their positions even out of the Oval office.
All this is going to do is give the House post-Trump gop which will crush the dems in 2018 all the fodder they need to justify impeachment.
Thanks for all the updates.
Wouldn't it just be simpler
Wouldn't it just be simpler all around for the voters to impeach her in 2016?
Spread the word about this misconduct. Let your elected officials know that you expect accountability in government, regardless of the party. Why are we making excuses for this? Why are we not outraged as a nation? Why is it that only a few Republicans have had the guts to stand up for justice here? Why is the DNC turning a blind eye to this?
Has there been a class action suit against either the Foundation or the Clintons yet by the people they have harmed?
Who have they harmed? They are probably under no legal
obligation to spend the money on any particular group of people (Haitians, say).
The donors know perfectly well that not much of the money actually goes to charity. They don't care, they're successfully buying access.
It seems like only the donors would be harmed, i.e., not getting what they paid for; but they're actually getting exactly what they want.

Ethical and moral violations
and impropriety by our elected leaders, harm all of us.
Oh granted, morally they're harming all kinds of people.
But as far as legal standing, I don't think anyone has standing except the donors.
I wish the Haitians had standing, but if the money isn't pledged for that specific purpose, I'm betting they don't.
Please check out Pet Vet Help, consider joining us to help pets, and follow me @ElenaCarlena on Twitter! Thank you.
Who would represent the Haitians?
Given that the Foundation would be represented by some of the most expensive attorneys on the planet, not thinking any firms would go up against them... one nearly only gets the best justice they can pay for.
'What we are left with is an agency mandated to ensure transparency and disclosure that is actually working to keep the public in the dark' - Ann M. Ravel, former FEC member
Good question too.
I'm thinking the Clintons are lawyers or would consult with lawyers, so be careful to say something like, "a percentage of your donation will go to Haiti," so they can skate because they didn't say exactly how much. They know how to use weasel words. So not only would fighting them be very expensive, I'd bet they just skirt the laws, whatever they are, so it would ultimately be fruitless.

There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know.
You're right.
Good thing I don't write many checks anymore.
Never thought I'd cheer on the Repubs
in the impeachment of a Democratic president--but I don't care for election fraud.
I'm fine with the impeachment of a "president."

Newsmax? Donating to and shmoozing with Bill and Hill?
All the world is a stage.
Is all the RW and "LW" trash talk that which distracts us from goddam truth?
MsGrin, you are doing an outstanding job of revealing the stage and the script.
On all this, we need to walk out before the final act and demand our money back.

Beck and Lee are trying to get our money back
if you've been following that suit.
They can keep my twenty-seven dollarses, as far as I'm concerned. but please give me back my candidate who would NOT be impeached on day one.

The Foundation has a sign on their door
it reads"

When Demosthenes had finished speaking, the people said “Let us march”.
Anyone remember Robert S. Strauss?
Years ago, I caught a PBS programme (possibly Frontline) that I think had something to do with money in politics.
Anyway, the interviewer caught up with Strauss at some big, monied event, and asks "Who are these people?" And Strauss replied "The right people".......... and laughed.

Hillary operates in a different dimension
Newsmax is an entity that is influential with the alt-right and vice-versa.
But they got $$$.
And $$$ makes politics run;
The political revolution continues
Politics = "Poli" + "Tics"
"Poli" comes from the Greek word for "many."
"Tics" are blood-sucking insects.

Maybe that's where she learned about it. Most Americans
never heard of it until she gave them free advertising.
Politicians have apparently decided that trying to win us over is a waste of them; trying to scare us into voting for them is much easier and faster.
Great work, MsGrin!
This evidence should be re=presented to James "I'm reasonable" Comey to see if it passes the smell test. If he doesn't detect the malodor, then his nose should be shoved into it.
Ms. Grin,
I am ashamed of you. Don't you realize that you are taking part in the swiftbosting of the Foundation? Think of the children. /s
I kid you not. I had CNN on in the car driving to work this AM. The Clinton mouthpiece they had on was lamenting the swiftboating of the Foundation taking place.
I'm not sure that there is anything that would or could
bring her down b/f the election. If she was caught shooting someone, on teevee, they'd say it was self-defense.
In some ways I hope that 2017 brings one investigation after another about her actions b/c that might prevent her from doing too much damage.
I've become very cynical and kind of given up... I mean about politics. It is just too corrupt. I cannot engage.
Don't believe everything you think.
The only principle Hill and Bill follow:
"It is easier to do the deed FIRST and apologize later, than asking permission."
Using nopologies.

My old boss told me he was taught this in business school
He had a tutor is the only other thing I remember.
