Its energy borrowed from the black church tradition. Obama remixed and channeled the idea of America as “a shining city on a hill” and a beacon of opportunity and freedom for the world. The Democrats communicated a dream and belief that Americans are a people of destiny and greatness.

And it is African-American, Latinos, Hispanics, Asians, First Nations and other people of color who are the main firewalls against the spirit of despair and dystopia that is being thrown at the body politic by the Republican Party in the moment of Donald Trump.

This is true at the ballot box as people of color (and young people and women) are an indispensible part of the Democratic coalition— without which Hillary Clinton cannot defeat Donald Trump.

On the one hand, there are "African-American, Latinos, Hispanics, Asians, First Nations and other people of color". On the other hand, there is a "spirit of despair and dystopia", meaning hateful, stupid, racist old white people.

Republicans gotta be lovin' this shit. Since the time of Goldwater, Republicans have been portraying Democrats as the party of African-Americans and welfare recipients. And now, identity-politics Democrats seem to be saying something pretty close to the same thing. Maybe they're bigger fish if they make their pond smaller. Doesn't seem like any way forward to me.

Personally, I don't give a rat's patootie about the Democrats any more, but it seems like somebody in that party would be seeing the downsides of this strategery.

I just got my shiny new Voter Registration card

with "Green Party" stamped on it in the mail. I DemExited a couple weeks ago. If Chauncy De Sellout and the rest of the Dem establishment thinks that I will join other:

Latinos, Hispanics... and other people of color

as the anointed Queen's firewall, they can kiss my ass.

I've held my nose and voted Democrat long enough.

They will be carefully screened...

So only those that pander to the most demographics will be installed, but they will all match lockstep in ideals, and the understanding that one toe out of line will bring down the full force of the Clinton machine.
