Real Life Hillary Bros Inside Both DNC & Hillary For America?

This language would make it appear so:

Has Hala "played the race card yet"?

Wikileaks

Part of the suggested reason Clinton's campaign is claimed to be superior (both with respect to the just-concluded primary and for the general election) is that it promotes women and people of color, yes?

Unfortunately, here's an example of DNC and Hillary for America staffers using frustrated and less-than-respectful language about a woman of color who has an established history with the Clintons and who has raised funds for the presidential campaign and other Democrats.

The exchange begins this way: Lindsey Roitman, Deputy National Finance Director-Northwest for Hillary For America pleads for advice from two folks at the DNC (Eric Stowe, Northern California Finance Director and Carla Frank,Northern California & Northwest, PACs) about working with a particular individual:

level with me about hala?
she's trashing hillary, me, my team, our website...everything she doesn't like. and she's mean to my people!! what should i do?

Roitman has been with the campaign since 2015.

Eric Stowe replies:

Welcome to our nightmare. I would just ignore her as much as possible and tell your team to do the same if she is being toxic. Has she used the race card yet? -ES

Roitman:

she escalates to dennis all the time. and yes, we've seen that card. this week it's "people hate working with all of you b/c you are so inflexible" (re: she wants whatever she wants without raising)...i mean if that's the worst thing she can say...fine.

There's also a partial email with the sender's name absent and only shows a portion of the comment. Note the email information and the distorted date stamp (this date stamp aberration shows up repeatedly in searches where a topic is sensitive from senders who in other places appear to use the actual date, so it appears to be an attempt to keep a message from being archived):

Subject: RE: you guys

Welcome to our nightmare. She has been pulling the race card with me for years. I wouldn’t worry about it to much she is

...appears to be truncated.

Huh - 'nightmare' does not appear to be a compliment, nor does the term 'toxic.' In fact those words sound kinda derogatory. Is this how DNC staffers and campaign workers demonstrate their respect for women?

Perhaps the Dennis referenced above is Dennis Cheng, Finance Director, New York Region at Hillary for President, - another person serving in multiple roles on team Clinton:

Top aide leaving foundation to build Clinton's 2016 fundraising team

Dennis Cheng, the Clinton Foundation's chief development officer, is leaving the philanthropic organization this week to join Hillary Clinton's nascent pre-campaign.

Cheng, who is expected to serve as Clinton's finance director once the campaign officially kicks off, is currently pulling double duty for the Clintons by finishing his role at the foundation and starting to build a 2016 campaign fundraising team, according to a source. The news was first reported by the New York Times.

He also previously worked for Clinton both in the Senate and the State Department:

Mr. Dennis Cheng
Deputy Chief of Protocol
Term of Appointment: 07/20/2009 to July 2011

Dennis Cheng was sworn in as Deputy Chief of Protocol of the United States on July 20, 2009. As Deputy Chief, Mr. Cheng serves as Acting Chief of Protocol in the absence of the Chief.

In this role, Mr. Cheng oversees the visits of heads of state, chiefs of government and other international dignitaries who are in the United States to meet with the President, Vice President or Secretary of State. Additionally Mr. Cheng supervises the management, administration and budgetary matters of the office.

Prior to joining the U.S. Department of State, Mr. Cheng served as National Finance Director for then-Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. From 2005 to 2008, he served as New York Finance Director for her Senate and Presidential campaigns. He has also served on the campaigns of Senator John Kerry, General Wesley Clark, Congresswoman Doris Matsui and New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, and as a consultant to the William J. Clinton Foundation.

Hillary Clinton’s New, No-Drama Fundraising Machine

He is quiet and private, guarded and discreet. He would rather sit at his desk, placing calls to donors or studying spreadsheets, than be seen with the candidate at her latest fundraiser. He does not back-slap, glad-hand, or arm-punch.

Some use the word “micromanager” — others prefer “thorough” or “detail-oriented.” But there is no question that Cheng, the 35-year-old who will serve as finance director on Hillary Clinton’s expected presidential campaign, is a departure from fundraisers like McAuliffe, the governor who for years marshaled the Clintons’ sprawling, complex network of donors with his famously gregarious style.

snip

But people who have worked with Cheng say that his controlled and methodical style has made him a well-respected and trusted member of Clinton’s world.

Hala shows up in just a handful of emails (searchable under her name, at any rate), in this one -also to Erik Stowe- Hala
asks to attend 4th of July at the White House:

Hello Erik,
I hope you are well. I very much would like to attend the 4th of July celebrations at the WH. I have never been and would like to attend especially this year.
Thank you for your consideration.
Hala

Hala is Hala Kamal Hijazi. From her bio on the Emerge California website (where she is on the board of directors):

Manager, Strategic Planning, City and County of San Francisco
Hala K. Hijazi has over 15 years of management experience with the City and County of San Francisco, specializing in economic public policies and programs development and implementation. She is the Founder of the Professionals VIP Network, providing civic engagement forums for rising leaders under 45 to increase participation in politics, business, philanthropy and civil rights realms. She serves as a Political Partner for the Truman National Security Project. An experienced political and philanthropic strategist and fundraiser, she serves on and host receptions for President Obama and Democratic National Finance Committee; works with Local and National Democratic Leaders, Clinton Foundation, American Red Cross and other national stakeholders. She has raised over $1 Million dollars for causes and the SF League of Women Voters honored her as a “Rising Star.”

I'm no expert in tracking down who people are by their name, but I see it asserted that she may be (or has previously been): Manager, Business Development, City at County of San Francisco Manager, Business Development, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

Interesting - yet another person who with/for both with the campaign and the Clinton Foundation...

From her Facebook page - she announced that she was appointed to serve on the credentials committee at the Philly convention:

Hala K. Hijazi
July 7 at 3:47pm

I am honored to be appointed by Hillary for America to serve on the Democratic Party's Credentials Committee at the 2016 Democratic Convention in Philadelphia. So happy to represent California! ‪#‎ImWithHer‬

It turns out that Hala has been noted to speak her mind - this is from a rightwing website in 2012:

Obama Fundraiser Hala Hijazi Under Fire for Speaking Truth about Israeli War Crimes

Hala Hijazi, an Obama fundraiser who has reportedly personally brought in as much as $200,000 for the president’s reelection bid, is taking fire from conservatives over her history of criticizing Israel. The self-described “Muslim Palestinian-American” who works for the San Francisco City Attorney’s office, has been accused of “highly charged press attacks on the Jewish State.”

Again from her Facebook page, Hala discusses a milestone for women in Saudi Arabia which she attended:

Hala K. Hijazi added 17 new photos — in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
December 18, 2015

I am back! Honored & grateful to have witnessed and participated in Saudi Arabia's historic and proud day not only for Saudi women but also for the region. A special heartfelt thank you to an amazing, humble, and inspirational leader, visionary, and entrepreneur, HRH Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al-Saud who made this possible.

On Saturday, December 12th, 2015:
1. Saudi Women BROKE the Guinness World Record for the largest human “ribbon” to promote breast cancer awareness on the football stadium at Princess Noura University in Riyadh. Congrats to Saudi's 10KSA, Princess Reema Bandar Al Saud and Dr. Modi Batterjee, the patrons & organizers of the initiative for mobilizing and inspiring over 10,000 women, **8,264** of whom assembled to break the Guinness World Record (beating India's 6,847)

2. Saudi Women VOTED for the first time in the country’s history. More than 100,000 voted in municipal elections and at least 20 female candidates won seats.

For me, it was once in a lifetime and beautiful experience to witness women vote for the 1st time and to stand with 1000s of women in support of a major cause.

It was an emotional day and tears of joy were shed, especially when I saw the proud and empowered looks on the faces of 1st time voters. Priceless.

I am happy to be back home to share my experience and to fight harder to dispel stereotypes at home and aboard, build bridges, increase dialogue, and change the one-sided narratives. Onwards.

* * *

I've never encountered Hala Hijazi outside of this email exchange, but it's clear she brings a strong element of diversity to the Clinton campaign (notably with a stance likely not entirely consistent with Clinton's policy on Israel). The apparent wake behind her suggests she is a person of strong opinions, unafraid to offer them in public. One could imagine then that this would be an individual whom the Clinton campaign would celebrate - and arguably it does by including her in their fundraising efforts and by appointing her to a committee in Philly. The exchange here, however, while made in what was believed to have been a private communication, exhibits a certain tone-deafness by both campaign and DNC staffers toward someone working in various capacities on their own team(s).

Way to play the 'woman card,' guys!

Looks like the DNC and Hillary For America have themselves some Hillary Bros.

#StrongerTogether?

Putting this in as an antidote.

Sounds like Hala has views similar to Bernie's Israel-Palestine views. Certainly, if true, she should probably feel more comfortable with Bernie, than Medusa.

I didn't mean to come up with that, but it just sort of blurted out of my text downthread when I was responding to another post.

I kinda think Hagatha Hags has better alliteration, myself, but I don't remember how I came up with Hagatha, either--so that might be way too vague Wink

A Romney Style reveal video would KILL their chances, but the trick is finding somebody who's close enough to Clinton with morals. She doesn't deal with those whose ethics can't be circumcised.

Srsly, this is kinda fish in a barrel:
Nine emails with his name. He is Steve Spinner of RevUp

Steve Spinner Just Fixed the Worst Thing About Being a Politician
And he’s selling the solution to both sides.

For months some of Washington’s top campaign professionals have been buzzing about a product with the potential to turbocharge political fundraising and possibly much more. The product is a piece of software—an algorithm, actually—that is the distilled essence of a pioneering approach to fundraising developed by a few Silicon Valley entrepreneurs during Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, an innovation that helped lift him to the presidency. The approach grew out of a simple insight: You can raise a lot more money if, rather than just ask for a check, you ask people to reach out to their own social networks and raise money themselves.

The person who best exemplified this approach for Obama was Steve Spinner, the young founder of a small sports science company. In 2007 he attended an Obama fundraiser and became smitten. Then he hosted one. Then he experienced a transformation, not uncommon in Northern California at the time, wherein Obama became not just a candidate, but a cause. A born networker, Spinner founded Entrepreneurs for Obama (later rechristened Technology for Obama), one of many unofficial “affiliate groups” that sprang up to support the campaign. It raised a staggering $26 million. By the time Obama was sworn in, Spinner—an ordinary, middle-class guy—had become his eighth-largest fundraiser, according to a former campaign official, putting him in a league with the Spielbergs, Geffens, and Soroses. In 2012, Spinner was top three. A year later he started a company, RevUp Software, to pour all he’d learned about fundraising into a single piece of software. The technology mimics the process Spinner developed while raising money for Obama, mining peoples’ contacts to identify the best fundraising targets and the personal details that might help close the deal. “The idea,” he says, “is that the right tool can enable anyone in the position I was in—a volunteer—to do the same thing I did.”

So, figuring out who he is is easy. Harder to understand WHO exactly Jordan means is taking one for the team - and how. Wouldn't they want the guy who raised so much for Obama in '08?

From the emails, we also learn that he and his wife, Allison, attended the Nordic State Dinner with President Obama.

There are 37 emails about the Nordic State Dinner, mostly discussions about people angling to get invited.

But included Washington DC. Thought he might be a politician, so ignored non DC related results. Bookmarked the email (have 10+ bookmarked), and your post reminded me of it, because he's disliked too.

It does seem odd that they didn't want him raking in the dollars. Maybe he wanted too big a cut, or maybe DNC were worried his software wasn't conducive to siphoning for Hills?

I too ran across the dinner emails. Downloaded a seating chart. Highest bidder sits by the POTUS, apparently.

I'm gobsmacked at the mountains of money being tossed around. Yet, they hate on Hala and this guy - both big fundraisers. Weird.

That explains a whole lot too, doesn't it?

He's probably a decent guy.

Well, that took about 30 seconds to look up. Any emails from eop.whitehouse.gov we can chase to any more dead ends?

Where were we? Oh, yeah, Hala Hijazi....can we get back to that?

"An experienced political and philanthropic strategist and fundraiser"

Is that a real job description?

Without regards to any slights she may receive from the DNC, I find it somewhat distressing that the above quote is a presumably common fact of modern political/philanthropic practice.

I guess it is a case of specialization of labor.

Shades of DWS. Once Hala has outlived her usefulness of squeezing every last bit of juice from the turnips donors, she will be, perhaps politely shown the door with the following au revoir "Don't let the door hit you in the ass".
