There is more than one viable choice. And that is the reality.
It's called Dr. Jill Stein / Green Party, who will be on the ballot in 45 U.S. States or more. If the 13 Million Bernie Sanders voters just move over and do the right thing and support Dr. Jill Stein with the same energy, creativity, inspiration, and financial support -- then she will zoom up from 4%-7% in the Polls to 15% - 20% in the Polls.
And then she will be heard and seen in the General Election debates, and she will blow Hillary Clinton away and show the Country what a real woman President looks like.
Dr. Stein isn't afraid to tell it like it is and stand up to the establishment! I will, from this moment forward, work my ass literally off to get her elected. I'd rather be assless with a president Stein than have something to take it up from HRC or tRump.
We aren't in his position. We can bitch and moan about his decisions all we want. We don't have to live his life. We can complain about him not endorsing Jill. We're on the outside, free from any and all blowout from such an action.
The question is, would him endorsing Jill have changed anything at all? Would it have driven as many supporters to her as his endorsement of Hillary? I don't think it would have. I think she may have actually gotten less support, as there wouldn't be the same motivation to do so. His endorsement of Hillary prompted people to get over him, which is what the movement needed at that point. At that point, people were still talking of stubbornly writing in his name. Now? Not so much.
Jill Stein made a formal offer to Sanders to run as a joint ticket, so her support and the Green ticket numbers would have gone in just one direction: Up.....Way Up!
Sanders endorsement is the biggest "never mind" fold up and capitulation in Modern political history. Suddenly the words "It's too late for Establishment politics", "Enough is Enough", and "We need a political Revolution" ring very hollow and insincere now.
But the point here is that ... we do not have to accept this (and we won't "fall in line" anymore):

Like it or not, the system is rigged. In order for him to win 3rd party, we'd have to get rid of the electoral college. So long as that exists, it doesn't matter if someone wins the popular vote.
Do you think that there would have been any chance at all that the Democratic party would have just let him do that? First, there's those "sore loser" laws that he'd have to overcome just to have his name on the ballot. If he was a VP for Stein, that'd probably let him be on the ballot, but at the same time it'd remove a great ally from the Senate and put him into a significantly less powerful position if Stein had managed to win. There's the second problem: winning. At this point, it won't happen. Electoral college trumps the popular vote, so while a Sanders/Jill or a Jill/Sanders ticket could feasibly win the popular vote, they could still lose the electoral vote. It's not often it happens that way, but it does happen. Third, if he were to do that, and lose as expected, all he would have accomplished was politically isolating himself and making the Democratic party find the Green party to be a legitimate threat that they would then work to undermine as much as possible, and they'd probably be successful.
Like I said, it's easy for us to say how people should do things. But we're not the ones with all the information. He is.
The Green Party is/will be on the ballot in virtually all U.S. States, and the Democratic Party can't stop that.
Stein offered to create a joint ticket (Sanders-Stein) with him. That decision was in control of only Jill Stein and the Green Party.
Finally, it does not matter if he would have lost anyway, or if you think he would have lost. The important point is that the Democratic Party will never change at all unless it faces an actual challenge coming from the Left.
Making the Green Party as large and as strong an opponent as it possibly can be ... is exactly what should be done, and the only thing that can work. That was the opportunity that Sanders walked away from (and in to the sleazy arms of Hillary friggin Clinton and Henry Kissinger).
Sanders had a rare and gift opportunity here, to be able to run as a Democrat the whole year and get into the debates, and then just switchover to the Green Party at the 11th hour and bring all his supporters with him -- and create a real progressive counter force against the rightward policies of the Democratic Establishment (with 13 million voters, plus whatever Stein already has).
That was clearly worth doing. For such an opportunity to put such a large, noisy progressive coalition together in November may never come again.
You cannot call for a political Revolution, and then decide to just be comfortable and not "rock the boat" at the same time.
Either we reject the Establishment and actually fight them for real, or we just roll over and become their willing victims. Sanders walked away from the fight. Maybe he's exhausted. Maybe he deserves to rest.
But the one thing that he didn't and we didn't ever deserve is to ever be embracing Hillary friggin Clinton.
Bernie unfortunately exists in the current political system. He can't rock the boat from in there. That's the job of the people in the movement.
He has to do what is necessary to see the movement continue, and the movement would not continue if people kept ignoring the "It's not about me" message that he's been preaching since day one.
Just before former president Bill Clinton took the stage at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night, progressive social media lit up with news that former Ohio state senator Nina Turner, one of Bernie Sanders' most celebrated surrogates, had her convention credentials stripped by the DNC and was ejected from the convention hall.
It was @NinaTurner who won me over to support & campaign for Bernie.
Just spoke with Nina. Heartbroken over how she was mistreated today.
I just pictured Hillary's minions frantically hurling 4th of july smoke bombs all over the areas that are supposed to be full of delegates that have left, and desperately hanging room height mirrors at creative angles.
Lol, amusing thought! The privately taken video I've seen looks very telling - and apparently there were 'extra people' placed in the California section to provide 'enthusiasm and cheers' - which is probably why it wasn't completely empty. Perhaps the whole place was half-loaded with 'at leisure' movie extras all seated up in the front sections, as the Bernie delegates were seated in the back?

First Bernie breaks his promise and endorses before the convention. He refuses to fight even when it's revealed by Wikileaks that the DNC rigged the process. Then he gives an endorsement of Hillary last night. He collaborates with the Hillary camp to get a bunch of goons together to intimidate his supporters and keep them quiet, confiscating their signs and threatening to revoke their credentials. Today, he engages in the "nomination by acclamation" theatrics, and now he's gone?
Latest reports say that Bernie is reverting back to an independent and that he will not be fundraising for Hillary. So he's telling all of his supporters to vote for the candidate of the party...he just left? WTF? What the hell did the Democratic Party and the Clintons do to him?
fall into the trap set by Clintons. Now they have the image of "party unity" that they wanted despite the dirty tricks behind the scenes. The media isn't talking about what's really going on, like usual.
If Bernie wasn't allowed to speak or if it was obvious that his delegates and volunteers were being railroaded (which they are), there would be outrage from his supporters nationwide. Instead, by playing along, Bernie got a primetime speech where he alienated most of his most ardent supporters by telling them to vote for Hillary. Was it really worth it?
If you only see what's on the surface, he does look like a sellout. Right now, people are too angry to delve deeper and see if there's anything else going on behind-the-scenes, which there obviously is.
Bernie is not a sell out. He is shouldering a huge load. We knew it was a long shot and we knew they would stack the deck. Plan B. We have to support Bernie . Look what he did. Why would he sell out.? for what? He was forced to. He was in tears. I saw a cartoon that usurped his birdie. it made me want to cry.
I love bernie. I think he is the best
the decision not to allow a 'minority report' regarding the Party platform (TPP, etc.), or even on rules/process issues (superdelegates)--even though they had the votes to force a Floor fight, on that issue.
And, obviously, it didn't matter about releasing delegates, since they halted the roll call vote, and awarded the nomination to FSC by acclamation.

Because he knew he did not have the votes. the super delegate thing is what slipped us up the voter suppression. All of that . I am not sure why exactly but I do know he is not a sell out
Former rivals Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders urgently joined forces Monday to tamp down dissent among his supporters, as Democrats tried to keep infighting from overtaking an opening night featuring some of the party’s biggest stars, including first lady Michelle Obama
Bernie sent out a text message to the delegates telling them not to boo. Jeff Weaver showed up on CNN saying he was working with the Clinton campaign to get it under control.
During the TYT coverage, Jimmy Dore said that delegates were reporting that people from the DNC and Bernie camp were collaborating to keep them from booing the speakers, which is why you didn't hear much of it in primetime. Around that same time, DNC staff went around confiscating people's pro-Bernie signs.
Sanders, who has repeatedly called for his movement to grow inside and not outside the Democratic Party, worked feverishly to change minds. After his speech to delegates, he dispatched deputy campaign manager Rich Pelletier to meet with Clinton aide Marlon Marshall. One result was an email message to all delegates and a shorter text message to the floor whips who were tasked with keeping delegations calm.
“Our credibility as a movement will be damaged by booing, turning of backs, walking out or other similar displays,” Sanders wrote in the email. “That’s what the corporate media wants. That’s what Donald Trump wants. But that’s not what will expand the progressive movement in this country. I know everyone is frustrated, especially by the recent DNC email disclosures. But, as a result of this disclosure Debbie Wasserman Schultz was forced to resign.”
Slimer was on MSNBC earlier, during that fifteen minutes I got through without puking (my, I did see a lot of things in that short time, lol!) He was asked how his "discussion" with Bernie go. And then they both laughed a little conspiratorial laugh and Schumer said there were three discussions.
Three. Discussions. I'll bet the first one started out politely enough...did you really think Sanders was going to go up against this entire crooked apparatus after they had to fix it publicly to stop him?
Goes against all the reporting that I've seen and/or heard--including a video of Jeff Weaver, his Campaign Manager, saying that he is a 'Democrat for life.' ("With All Due Respect," Bloomberg TV)
(Which is not to say that you're incorrect. It was approximately two months ago, give or take, that I saw the Weaver interview with Mark Halperin.)
Anyhoo, can someone please point me to the media source of this report?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Nevermind. This may be one source.
Bernie Sanders tells @bpolitics breakfast w/reporters he'll return to the Senate as an Independent, not a Dem: 'I was elected as an Ind.'
I've read that Dem Party lawmakers are required (or expected, by Leadership) to do some fundraising 'on behalf of the Party.'
So, if Susan Page's report is accurate--and I can't imagine why it wouldn't be--he must have realized that he might not be able to raise much money to fund his new organization(s), unless he severs any formal ties to the Dem Party.
(Because of possible negative blowback from some of his supporters, who wouldn't want to contribute--knowing that a portion might go to FSC's campaign coffers.)
I think he figured right.

Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.
PHILADELPHIA – Bernie Sanders said he plans to return to the Senate as an independent, despite winning 13 million votes in the Democratic Party’s presidential primary contest.
“I was elected as an independent; I’ll stay two years more as an independent,” Mr. Sanders said.
Speaking at the Bloomberg Politics breakfast on Tuesday, Mr. Sanders also said the resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee doesn’t go far enough in fixing the situation and that more staff members need to leave following embarrassing disclosures of thousands of internal emails.
“We need a DNC which has as very different direction,” he said. “I honestly don’t know many of the people there. But my guess is we’re going to need new leadership, a new direction and new personnel.”
Asked after the event whether Mr. Sanders considers himself a Democrat or an independent, a campaign aide said, “He ran for president as a Democrat but was elected to a six-year term in the Senate as an independent.”
I suspect that there may be something in the works, something he'll need his delegates for... There's absolute proof of cheating and publicity appearing even on the MSN, and a lot of trolling about Bernie 'selling out/caving' which does not sound like him at all. The Corporate faction is still scared of him as well as of the People's Movement, which is not subject to control by their 'betters' or anyone else. They did not underestimate Bernie, they just pretended to, while cheating like mad because they knew that he could and would win, as he did.
If one approach doesn't work, he tries another, but he always has open and flexible strategies to achieve what he has for the people he's done what was thought impossible for. That's his MO.

This is his he started this. Noe believe in him and we can get this done. They knew some of us would turn on him. do not let them do this
his role in this play is over. He goes back to the Senate, maybe he gets a committee chairmanship if the Democrats retake the Senate. I'm sure he can be elected for one more term, and that would be enough public service for one man. Maybe he works behind the scenes to get some progressive organizations going. Makes sure the people who built his social media and online fundraising operation are employed there. Gives speeches about what a dipshit Trump is.
I wish him all the best. It's time to move on.
Respect for the delegates that walked out. It's long overdue.

And Madam Clinton has deliberately pitted herself against a master of kayfabe in Trump. She wanted this, she's got it, she owns it. The disaster will be all on her.
The Democratic party is pissed as hell at Bernie right now, and they are strong-arming him to no end. I can't imagine what they're threatening him with but I'll be it's significant enough to get results.
Trump's post convention bounce put him over the top for a moment and that has got to have the Dems crapping pants. Of course, everyone expects Hillary to get hers… that is, as long as everyone makes nice and happy for the cameras. "Party in disarray" as a headline isn't a vote getter, and the onus has been on Bernie to make it all come together. He's obligated to undo the rift in the party, to do otherwise would surely get him branded as a petulant child, and he'd get blamed for President Trump.
So that's Bernie's strategy, to avoid getting blamed for President Trump. But that's all just on the surface. Underneath he's a tempest of fury and I'm sure he's burning for all of us to #DemExit with our birds in the air.

Why would Bernie endorse the corporate candidate of the .01%?
as a super delegate they
as a super delegate they would have pulled him and played a game . if he did not do that he would have been blocked all the way
I would rather Bernie be completely blocked than
fall into the trap set by Clintons.

'Blocked all the way' from doing what? His Campaign made
the decision not to allow a 'minority report' regarding the Party platform (TPP, etc.), or even on rules/process issues (superdelegates)--even though they had the votes to force a Floor fight, on that issue.
And, obviously, it didn't matter about releasing delegates, since they halted the roll call vote, and awarded the nomination to FSC by acclamation.

Because he knew he did not have the votes. the super delegate thing is what slipped us up the voter suppression. All of that . I am not sure why exactly but I do know he is not a sell out
Where does this
come from?
Where are you getting this specific information?
CNN and others reported on it yesterday when the boos started.
It's also showing up vaguely in articles and reports from the convention floor.
http://www.pressherald.com/2016/07/25/dnc-kicks-off-in-philadelphia-with...

Bernie should have said FUCK YOU, Hillary and the Democratic Party!!!!!!
From the horse's mouth
Slimer was on MSNBC earlier, during that fifteen minutes I got through without puking (my, I did see a lot of things in that short time, lol!) He was asked how his "discussion" with Bernie go. And then they both laughed a little conspiratorial laugh and Schumer said there were three discussions.
Three. Discussions. I'll bet the first one started out politely enough...did you really think Sanders was going to go up against this entire crooked apparatus after they had to fix it publicly to stop him?
Sounds like something Schumer would do.

This is the 2nd time I've seen the 'reverting to an Independent'
assertion, today.
Nevermind. This may be one source.

I suspect that there may be
I suspect that there may be something in the works, something he'll need his delegates for...

Bernie didn't sell out. Come on. Did you think this would be easy? Did you think the uber 1% was just going to turn over power. The deck is stacked You said so your self. I mean why would he? This is his he started this. Noe believe in him and we can get this done. They knew some of us would turn on him. do not let them do this

Silverman
And that was The soundbite of the night. Every media outlet reported it, tweeted it. I've seen it a million times.
Absolutely--the MSM loved it, because she mocked the
'left' of the Dem Party.
From what I've read and heard, Bernie's formal role in this convention is pretty much over.
So, I'm wondering:
"Does anyone know--from reliable news reporting--if the Sanders' delegates are actually going to stage a walkout?"
Or, is that just wistful thinking?

Wherever he went
his role in this play is over.

There is no justice. There can be no peace.
My Best Guess
“He may not have gotten the words out but the thoughts were great.”
DemExit
Is good. As is change in a bad environment.

Did someone say "Birds in the air?"

different kind of burn now ---- lots and lots of heartburn! What a tragedy! Exit stage left and the curtains close as a lone trumpet plays "Taps" in the background
