The nation has been defrauded.
The compounding evidence - just beginning from Wikileaks, and continuing from the election analysis - points to collusion and racketeering at the highest levels.
The candidate he endorsed has now been unmasked as a fraud, by virtue of collusion with the DNC.
Sen. Sanders took millions of dollars from many many folks who could ill afford such donations, who gave in the belief that he would stand up for them and the nation as they were standing up for him.
He now owes it to the country, to his supporters and himself to do that which is best for the nation, for it’s people, for the world, and that is to do what he has done his entire career:
Tell the truth.
Call out the liars.
Call out the corruption.
He can make his move on the night of highest “media” tension and attention.

Bernie still has this moment in time to do something
spectacular. The idea that after November, there will be any possibility of Bernie Sanders being welcomed back to the "club" is a pipe dream. He has gone up against the establishment, he has already exposed, or caused to be exposed the fact that Hillary is a total crook. He has shaken up the DNC, whether they can recover from all this is still in question.
His best shot is RIGHT NOW. There is no tomorrow, next week, next year, next election cycle. This is it. He will either strike a blow for a real Democracy, or go down in flames. He could join Jill Stein on the Green ticket, he could continue to expose the corruption that is the two party system.
The idea that Hillary is an improvement over Trump is just another meme that makes no sense. Hillary has made it abundantly clear that she is not going to be anything but the corporate hack she is. Bernie is wasting his time if he thinks those planks are going to make a bit of difference to the DNC. Mike Pence is a heartbeat away from the presidency if Trump is elected. Trump will be "Reagoned" within months of the election and we will have an Evangelical fruitcake in the Oval office. One who is tied to "the Family" the same way Hillary is. It is a win-win for the power elite.
He may have promised not to run as a third-party candidate, but he also had the expectation that he would be treated better by the DNC. He has to know they would favor Hillary, he couldn't have known the lengths they were willing to go to to shut him out.
When you think that Bernie probably did win the primaries, open and closed, and that the vast majority of independents and even a lot of Republicans would consider voting for him rather than Hillary/Trump, he has got to make a stand now or just go home. He will be 78, God willing, next election cycle, but by then, I don't believe we will have a country left to fight for.

Bernie has massive leverage, though.
Hillary can't win without his support. She pisses him off, no Pres. Clinton Part Deux. Like it or not, she needs him (especially after choosing Tim Kaine), and if he explicitly goes out and says that he is either running third party or can no longer endorse such blatant corruption, her numbers will crater and they will never recover. Let's not forget, Bernie won at least 45% of the Democrats and has a huge base among independents and even Republicans. He has influence, and up until now some of his voters have been scared enough of Trump to hold their nose and vote for Hillary. I don't think that Bernie could sway many votes to her, but he can definitely peel them off and get people to abstain altogether.

The reason the Left never gains power in a country like this one is that it isn't willing to go to the lengths it takes to bring down the corrupt status quo. Not since labor organizers battled Pinkertons have we seen that kind of commitment. Bernie has the power now, but I don't expect him to use it as ruthlessly as it would take to knock Hillary's crown off her head. He didn't show that ruthlessness in the primary, when he could have run much harder on the corruption issue, and he won't do it this coming week.
He made his decision to run as a Democratic insider, and he's stuck with it. And I think he buys the argument that as bad as Hillary is, Trump is worse. I agree with him in that, although I know not everyone here does. Bernie engaged in an almost superhuman effort to give us a better choice, no doubt knowing he would likely fail. In doing so, he pointed the way forward, and told us he would be passing the baton to us. I can't ask more of him than that. He'll play the good soldier in the Triumph of the Hill production, but he'll keep pointing the way forward. We should keep moving in that direction, even if he's caught in the trap he knew he was stepping into.

Voters are perfectly capable of engineering a loss for Hillary.
Disenfranchised Dems are the largest demographic (Millennials, the worker class, progressives, and Independents).
But their fear of Donald Trump has been too well fed for them to make the sacrifice and demonstrate that the people own the electoral process. The people can severely punish either party at any time. Progressives want it both ways: Hillary loses and Bernie takes her place. This suggests that USians may not have the political maturity to govern themselves.
To me, no outcome is more important that Hillary lose in November and the Democratic Party topple. It's the people's only chance to consolidate and take the upper hand. It's possibly their last chance for a very long time.

If he campaigns for HRC and it goes anything like his endorsement speech, then the dem's will be campaigning on 2 mutually exclusive sets of policy at once. HRC doesn't want to have anything to do with Bernie's issues or policy initiatives. At the endorsement event, according to someone at TPW, C-Span covered Bernie's speech (which was his program with every sentence preceded by "Hillary understands that. . ."), but switched to covering Congress when it was time for a "boxed-in" Hillary to speak.
Dallasdoc mentions that left-wing fervor has faded in this country. That may be so. But when the Pinkertons were called in to put down the striking workers in the Homestead strikes, the issues were much more foundational and perhaps that's why the left was more inspired. The Homestead strike was about private property--about who owns the product of labor. The workers themselves wanted disposal rights over the products they were producing, the factory owners (businessmen) would brook no challenge to their total and absolute ownership of the product.
Bernie has not come close to the issues surrounding ownership.

I'm waiting for this week to play out. I just can't imagine Jane going quietly either. They are carrying on with disappearing Bernie, and after his "endorsement" pretty sure they don't want him "campaigning" for Hillary.

Can you explain the DNC rule?
My understanding was that Hillary didn't have enough delegates without super delegates. No one has voted yet, so are they considering her nominated even so?
I have already re-registered Green, but if the election is close in my state I will vote for Hillary with a heavy heart and sick stomach. I am enraged that it has come down to Hillary and Trump, and I put the blame on the Clintons (with a huge assist from Obama) for putting us in this position. But Trump is far more dangerous than many seem to be willing to admit or take the time to understand. I will not have him on my conscience.
It is up to those of us who responded to Bernie's message to ramp it up after the election and stick with our cause through the tough coming years. Whatever happens in this election, the next four years are going to be very tough. We need to hang together in a positive manner, following the leadership Bernie has offered throughout the primary. Hopefully he will come up with some mechanism that will give us a framework for further action. If not, we develop it ourselves.

OWS has many echoes which still bear considerable power despite no "charismatic leader". Anonymous is one example.....

I've given Sanders more money . . .
than I've given any political candidate; I've given plenty of money to candidates and groups who supported him.
But I don't feel at all defrauded by what has happened. He has signaled that he would support Clinton for over a year, if she won the nomination. There were no qualifiers. The only question was how robust the support would be. He hasn't done fundraising for her or the party. He hasn't given his supporter information.
I feel angry about it, but it was clear at the outset what was going on; it was clear after Super Tuesday that he faced incredibly long odds and that the party establishment was putting its whole body on the scale.
Ultimately, he is going to do what he thinks is appropriate given his position as a U.S. Senator, who also has obligations to his constituents. People are free to do what they want too. They aren't bound to support his decision.
However, the idea that he would trash Clinton on Monday night is absurd; it's not a reasonable expectation based on his history either.

and as I say above, everything he's fought for would be undermined if the Clintons could pin a lost election on him. If that happens, I will not live long enough to see political daylight again.
But he already made this decision.
From his actions, he seems to have decided that all of the benefit available from continuing the fight at the Presidential level had been tapped out, and the focus should shift down ballot and toward building infrastructure for the longer term.
So would this proposed action help down ballot, and would it help build infrastructure for the longer term? I don't see any argument offered that suggests that it would.

Sanders should
retract his endorsement. From a purely political view he now has the perfect cover to do so.
Retribution must go much deeper than the firing of the sacrificial lamb DWS (she was always more of a symptom than a cause anyway)

Just listened to Bernie on This Week.
Says DWS should resign, but still says we need to defeat Trump and elect Hillary Clinton.
No change to his attitude after the leaks.
It's not as if the leaks would be news to him.
Bernie Sanders has been raising the biased approach of DWS for months now ... and has been an independent in a two party system for decades. It seems like there would be very little in the e-mails that would have caught him by surprise.

What would any of us do if our children were threatened? Our spouses? Our (itty bit of) financial security? We all know what has happened to those that oppose the Clinton Machine, from Arkansas forward. What was Bernie threatened with? Well we may never know, but I think we should give the man a break. Not than I am not as furious and heartbroken as everybody else. But now it is not the man that matters, just the movement.
