What will it be tomorrow? A firing squad gunning a Charlotte grandmother down while she’s leaving Trader Joe’s? A 17-year-old honor student on his way to work rammed and impaled by a police cruiser? A pregnant school principle flayed alive by a group of plain clothed detectives who believed she was hiding weapons and weed in her skin?

Dallas Shows It's Become War
Having lived through the racial tensions of the 1960s what happened tonight in Dallas makes me marvel that something like this hasn't happened sooner. The news coverage is disgusting, in that there is no cause discussed for this effect. The cops are heroes, whether or not they ever violated a civilian's rights or worse. Those who decided now was the time to avenge the far too many people killed by police without justification are presented as equal to terrorists.
I can imagine what the now-elderly Black Panthers -and others who advocated revolution over the treatment their community received when protesting real grievances- must be thinking. Among the obvious things has to be how quickly the media is spinning this story. I can't help but question whether this nation has reverted to "White good, Black bad" no matter what happens next.
This nation is in deep shit.

other than special squads in a very limited way and only after legitimate proof of need (in some midwest cracker town they do not need tanks).
The Police have gone from an institution who is there to protect and serve the citizens to a paramilitary organization who's goal is to keep the natives from getting restless and under the thumb of the Oligarchs, at any cost.
cops never "protected and served" the little people
the history of policing in America: slave catchers, defenders of the property of the wealthy, tools of the plutocracy, strike busters.
We were fed a series of lies, we were propagandized into believing that "Officer Friendly" was who to turn to for help. It has been somewhat true if you were a middle-class or owning-class white male victim of a property crime, but for black people, Native people, women reporting rape or beaten by their husband, poor children, mentally ill people, queer people, trans people, and other marginalized groups, the cops have never been on our side.
There is no justice in America, but it is the fight for justice that sustains you.

I would encourage you to watch an episode or two of an old police show like Adam-12 vs current ones. You will see that the concept of policing was totally different
troubling
thought is that now this means even more "cops" will be even more "fearful" and therefore will execute more of us.
They kill people of color all the time. Mostly because they simply can and get away with it. Time and time again we have all been witness to this.
They also kill and beat the disabled. Hell, they even murdered, on camera, a mentally ill young man while in his wheelchair as he cried out for his father... who was a chief or detective.
We've seen then murder the homeless simply because they didn't want to do paperwork.
They target the vulnerable. They target our children.
They have become so violent that I can count on my fingers the rare few people in my daily life who actually don't feel the same way about "cops" that most sane people: mortal fear of lives and the lives of our loved ones if they have a chance encounter with a "police officer."
I fear that this will only provide them with the excuses to do mass executions of us.

I was texting with a friend last night when this went down, turned on the CNN for about 10 minutes or so, got disgusted with the nasty little asshole who shot the video talking about how violence is never the answer, blah, blah, blah. Maybe I'm being a bitch for thinking that, but I don't think so. Smacks of white privilege alright, right along with some financial privilege, shooting that video from his hotel room. And Mr Obama's remarks about how vicious and despicable the shooting was, never mind the vicious and despicable reasons behind it, nope, just nothing new here to see folks. Disgusting.
