This was one day people

That's all it was.

I was not surprised. If anything surprised me it was that Comey went on so long with his statement.

But the reality is nothing has changed. And nothing will change unless we fight to make it so.

We can crawl into a hole, or ...

We can fight, which means organize, coordinate, cooperate and never give up.

Bernie is just one guy. I love Bernie.

But he's not perfect, and even if Clinton had been indicted they never would have given him the nomination.

So - I want a better world than what we have now.

Not for me.

I've got maybe 20 years left if I'm lucky, probably less.

But I don't want my kids, your kids, you or whoever comes after me to think I quit. That I crawled away and let the sociopaths and the people who can rationalize anything for mere money, destroy the only world we have.

Life is a miracle.

I've seen miracles in my own life. I even wrote about one of them.

And I've seen tragedy. Lives blighted by poverty, and the unwillingness of those with too much to share anything with those with too little.

Lives ruined by wars they never wanted to fight.

People damaged by the neglect of our government to provide mental health care, clean water, police that protected us rather than occupied our communities.

Corporations allowed to metastasize until they could squeeze everyone of us of every last dime we own, all while selling us poison and lies.

So, do we lay down and give in, and let the future say of us "they were too weak, they had no courage, they were stupid and blind and mad with greed and lust for power?"

Or do we put away the ill will that the 1% has generated to separate us, put aside the small differences that they have nurtured to divide us, let go of childish things like hate and fear and envy, and join together, as one mighty force to oppose the people who will kill this planet and millions if not billions of human beings if it meant they could claim to be winners of whatever dung heap of devastation is left.

I guess you know what my choice is.

much in the style of Marvel Comics -- my lead supervillain will be called "Lesser Evil." Mild-mannered liberal Democrat by day, supervillain by night. He'll have a cape and tights with a big "L" on his chest, plus horns, a tail, and a red suit. He'll have a "change faces" superpower: Dukakis, the Clintons, Gore, Kerry, Obama, he's looked like all of them.

Some things really don't ever change. Ever. Damnit Janet, you've actually made me smile. Just a few years ago, well, decades, 1966 to be exact, as a student, one of my professors, Howard Zinn, helped us picket a local pharmacy - in which ( this being Boston MA) it was ILLEGAL to sell a contraceptive we then called "rubbers" - so they were "behind the counter" and you had to ask for them, and when you bought them, they were TAXED. Took several years, I'd graduated by then, heard thru the rumor mill, it was finally changed.
Remember laughing at the absurdity of it all. Stunning to see how little, how very little, has changed. So we have FBI Director Comey instead of J. Edgar, stunning how much ground lost.
Wish I could agree with the essayist, have tried, but this will need revolution. I don't expect it to be peaceful.

disappointed about in Sanders. He was blatantly cheated. But he wasn't the only one. We were cheated too. Fuck the Washington Post and their 'it was worse than we thought' bullshit. Everyone knew how 'bad' it was shortly into the story, even dumbshits like me. When she went into her usual defense of lie lie lie, we knew that too. If you're old like me and have been watching the Clintons for 25 years, you get to understanding that no matter what they touch there will always be something in it for them, by hook or by crook. And as long as they get their cut, they don't care which means it takes just as long as that bank balance increases with every dirty deal they do.

All Comey did was declare the Clinton bunch America's Official Crime Family. They are untouchable. I can't believe that he had the ignorance or audacity to clearly state that anyone else would be punished for doing the same thing as Shillary did. That was appalling. And oh so telling.

Why isn't Sanders saying anything, I wonder? Now is the time.

He could have made this a campaign issue when asked about it in the first debate. He chose not to. He is relentlessly focused on the issues he has been fighting for, even before his career in public service. Love the strategy or hate it, I don't see him straying from it now. And I don't see him gaining anything from it if he did -- it would just be fodder for all of his detractors to "prove" that he is a mean-spirited, Democrat-hating egomaniac. Or something.

Personally, what I *do* wish he would do is go third-party after the convention. That would be his statement on the non-indictment, without having to say anything at all. And the hoardes would follow him to the polls.

Just my humble take on things. I'm feeling very dispirited about our "democracy" today, which means I'm also pessimistic that the above would even happen.

The only way he could have broken through media trivialization was by repeating the most important points over and over exactly as he did. Exactly what I would expect of (and respect about) Bernie. He's still playing the long game and keeping himself above the fray. You know that any negative fallout from the investigation -- now or in November -- will magically be Bernie's fault. He's providing proof that it won't be -- because he's refused to jump in.

A lot of times there are votes held where certain people vote progressive to make them look good back home, because the party caucus knows that it doesn't need their votes. Other times, they all vote as part of a block on a bill that is GOP sponsored even though everyone recognizes the bill will pass anyway since Dems are in the minority.

Look to see where they get their money. That is the surest sign. And I'll bet a lot of them got money from PACs or lobbyists that also gave to Clinton and/or GOP candidates.

Yes, they can, and that is why it's incumbent on us to be a truly informed voter.

We can comment on the various websites and be 'keyboard warriors' 'til the cows come home, but until we absolutely KNOW what a candidate stands for, doesn't stand for, and whether or not that aligns with our individual beliefs is key.

I, personally, am against term limits; we (supposedly) have the ballot box. In my opinion, those who say we must throw everyone out are (mostly) wrong; Ed Perlmutter in CO-7 is just one example of a Congressman who listens to the people.

HOWEVER, I think that fighting the DNC over issues serves to educate a lot of folks, especially if it can be done in a way the the MSM isn't likely to ignore. Demonstrate clearly what we want and why.

Lord, I wish Bernie would go Green. But even if he doesn't, the Greens already espouse pretty much the same things that we do and we can fight on for the same things, just under a different banner.

The Greens are making progress in their struggle to get onto state ballots and I think it is entirely possible for them to make the grade in 40+ states. Of the higher population states that still remain to be conquered are PA, VA, NJ, and CT. Since the judiciary ruling that brought PA's required sigs down to 5,000 from 21,000+, those remaining high electoral college vote states are quite possible. It can be done.

Trump would absolutely shred Clinton. Any other Republican would do about the same. In a 4-way race [Green, Dem, Rep, and Lib], Jill Stein and the Berniecrats could actually win. And if we supported progressive candidates for the House, we could get some shit done.

I'm in a peaceful place where nothing the Dem establishment can do will hurt me. If Bernie doesn't want to continue, I'll understand. FSM knows, the man has moved mountains. The Greens are probably stubborn and irritating, but then so am I.

Current fights with the DNC will probably work to the benefit of a 3rd party, with free advertising.

Abandoning Bernie is out of the question. But other than that, I'm Green.

The left always seems to think in terms of yet another new party. We just got another new one, the United Progressive Party. I don't know enough about it to trust it yet.

A few years back, we got the Working Families Party, which, so far, seems to put the Democratic nominee or the Republican nominee on its ticket, but mostly the Democrat. At about the same time, we got the Justice Party, etc.

IMO, it would be good to unite first, then become a force in one of the existing parties.

In any case, no new Party will be on the ballot in many states by November. So, in November, the strongest statement can be made by voting Green. If the Green Party does much better in November 2016 than it did in November 2012 or November 2008, the reason will be obvious.

After November 2016, Sanders supporters can decide whether to take over an existing party from within or form yet another new one. But, the key is unified action, if we want to make so much as a ripple.

I thought from the start that the point of the F.B.I. investigation was to "clear" her, so that she had an impressive answer to charges about her emails that are likely to be made during the general election campaign. The timing of the announcement works very well in that regard.

The F.B.I. had said there was no rush to conclude the investigation, and the timing of the investigation had nothing to do with the political process. Yet, the timing of the announcement eliminates the possibility of any criticism of the Democratic Party for nominating a candidate for President who was under F.B.I. investigation. Something like that may have been be used against the party for a long time, and perhaps will be used against Democratic primary voters.

At the same time, Democratic primary voters who favored Sanders cannot complain that the timing of the announcement helped Hillary win primary votes. Heck, "poor Hills" had to fight the primary battle against Sanders with the added burden of being under this cloud the entire time (except that Sanders himself helped her get out from under the cloud during the first debate, dang it).

I don't think Trump is correct that Hillary may be the most corrupt Presidential candidate ever. I do, however, think that the corruption abounds throughout government and the election process (including primaries) and has for a long time.

This country as far as I'm concerned deserves Trump and everything that he brings after seeing that vote stealing Criminal left free and Obama having the sheer gall to campaign with her.

He's the embodiment of the willful ignorance, the fact free sound byte society, the people who swallow the media swill, who think fact checkers can be trusted instead of fact finding themselves, who let others do the thinking for them instead of thinking for themselves, and who never ask the hard questions, much less look in the mirror to ask them of themselves.

And I find myself anymore having a really hard time caring, when it's been made quite clear not enough people give a damn, no one who matters is willing to fight, so why should we keep trying to herd a society of sheep? why shine a light for those who won't see, why educate those who won't hear, why fight for those who won't speak?

"The “jumpers” reminded us that one day we will all face only one choice and that is how we will die, not how we will live." Chris Hedges on 9/11

FBI Director Comey Preempts Justice Department By Advising No Charges for Hillary Clinton

FBI DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY took the unprecedented step of publicly preempting a Justice Department prosecution when he declared at a press conference Tuesday that “no reasonable prosecutor” would bring a case against Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server.

The FBI’s job is to investigate crimes; it is Justice Department prosecutors who are supposed to decide whether or not to move forward. But in a case that had enormous political implications, Comey decided the FBI would act on its own.

“Although the Department of Justice makes final decisions on matters like this, we are expressing to Justice our view that no charges are appropriate in this case,” he said. Prosecutors could technically still file criminal charges, but it would require them to publicly disagree with their own investigators.

One of Comey’s likely motivations was avoiding the appearance that Department of Justice lawyers had biased the investigation due to their desire to avoid prosecuting a major party’s presidential nominee. He repeatedly assured the audience that “no outside influence of any kind was brought to bear.” Comey’s announcement also satisfied the public’s desire for a resolution sooner rather than later.

But Matthew Miller, who was a spokesman for the Department of Justice under Attorney General Eric Holder, called Comey’s press conference an “absolutely unprecedented, appalling, and a flagrant violation of Justice Department regulations.” He told The Intercept: “The thing that’s so damaging about this is that the Department of Justice is supposed to reach conclusions and put them in court filings. There’s a certain amount of due process there.”

I wonder if we are as stupid as they think. It would be hard to create a more corrupt scenario.

Let's start with the Phoenix meeting between a prosecutor and the husband of a criminal. Pretty bad optics that just happened to be discovered and reported.

Then a Saturday interrogation in the middle of a holiday weekend.

And finally a post holiday non-indictment.

Come on. I may have been born at night, but not last night. This is blatant corruption that we simply accept?

Time to raise hell. The great problem we face is a complicit media machine that will not report our protests, and a joke of a voting system that insures they win every time. I guess I'm puzzled how to break this system that seems to have us all on lock down.

fallout from this. If Comey gets some kind of reprimand, then maybe he was acting on his own to disseminate information that he thought might get buried if he just presented the facts to the AG. If he does not receive a reprimand for going around the protocols, then who knows.

Miller calls Comey's press conference "unprecedented." This is how precedent is set...by someone doing it the first time. I was kind of surprised that Comey used the lack of precedent for not pursuing criminal charges.

Yup. People want resolution. I prefer revolution, but, then, I was never very good at sticking to the approved path.
So the "damn emails" story has been focused on, and sucked up all the energy in the room - and Obama's out there, doing his preacher routine, and we're expected to now, finally, STFU. However, it has not escaped my attention that the email show has obfuscated the point that all the illegalities in the Clinton Foundation would take down, not only both Clintons, but a vast array of VIO(ligarchs), and not just a few - always disposable - Clinton aides and functionaries. So I do not give my blessing to people who send me articles giving them excuses to vote for Hillary - most not even knowing they are asking for permission to just stop being uncomfortable.
After all these years, I guess I'm finding out that my purpose in life is to be a pea under the mattress. So much for becoming a ballerina.....

They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
(So come on)

Interchanging mind control
Come let the revolution take its toll if you could
Flick a switch and open your third eye, you'd see that
We should never be afraid to die
(So come on)

Rise up and take the power back, it's time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend
(So come on)

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
(So come on)

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
(So come on)

Hey, hey, hey, hey

So, we said we were "Bernie or Bust"--so what's Bust?

…and hand a colossal defeat to the corrupt Democratic Party. Kick out the foundations.
